CHAPTER 39

EVOLET
“She’s back?” I dragged myself to the edge of the bed, grabbing a blanket and covering myself immediately.
“I thought she was on her way to see her tailor? Why’s she back?”
“Evolet, where are you?!” Mom yelled out once more. Her voice drawing closer to my room.
Her sudden return made my heart skip, causing me to panic.
“What if she comes here and find me in bed with Cadell? Oh goodness!” I panicked, jumping out of bed.
Before I could turn around and warn Cadell, my door came wide open. Mom stepped in and met me wrapped in my blanket, looking directly at my bed in shock.
My whole body froze as I tried to explain myself. “Mom, I… let me explain.”
“Explain what, Eve? That you are punishing this poor wolf to carry your clothes, all because he’s more hardworking than you?” she questioned, pointing at the Cadell.
What she said surprised me.
I turned around and found Cadell in his wolf form, holding the shopping bag in his mouth, with my stinky singlet on his head.
How did he grab all that in just seconds?!
“You are mean, Eve,” Mom scolded.
“Me? But… I didn’t do anything!”
“Just look at this poor baby. You’re torturing him!” She drew closer to Cadell, who began to whine like a pup, dumping my clothes on the ground and walking up to Mom innocently.
She wrapped her arms around his furry body, scrubbing his hair and still scolding innocent me! “No wonder the poor thing is crying. Look at yourself. You’re half naked! Do you want to blind him!” She pointed at my body, covering Cadell’s eyes.
To speak became a problem. My mother just roasted me with her words.
All I could do was glare at Cadell, who was enjoying the show, and slowly covering my body properly.
“I’m not blinding anybody,” I groaned, frowning. But it’s better than getting caught with a man in bed. She would have killed me for sure.
“But I thought you left for your tailor’s place?” I asked, picking up my clothes from the ground.
Mom sighed and explained what had happened. “I forgot my purse, dear. It clicked my mind and I had to rush back. I called you to open up, but you didn’t answer. Only for me to step in and see you torturing this poor animal with your body,” She said, resuming with the insults.
I rolled my eyes and kept picking my clothes. Taking a sneak peak at that lying big head in Mom’s arms.
But I own it all to him. He just saved my ass.
Mom soon left the house with her purse, hurrying out with speed. I carefully shut the door, catching my breathe from the shock she just gave me.
“That was a close call,” I breathed out, placing my head on the door, with my mind flashing back to the moment Cadell and I were having in the room before Mom arrived.
It still sent shivers down my spine. My cheeks are still flushing red.
I could feel my lips spreading into a smile, wondering what would have happened if Mom hadn’t interrupted.
“Eve, you’re crazy,” I laughed at myself, stepping away from the door just to find Cadell leaning against the wall, staring at me.
I felt the wave around me when I saw him there. Can’t help but notice how hot he looks.
Has he been working out?
“Smart move, right?” he said, crossing his arms.
His eyes locked with mine, delivering a killer smile that almost swept me off my feet. It felt like my heart was going to explode just by looking at him.
Oh Goddess! Why is this happening?!
“Now…” Cadell said, approaching me. “Where did we stop?” he asked, about pulling me close from the waist.
Snapping myself back to my senses… “I need to clean up!” I yelled, running pass Cadell and straight into my room.
I locked the door shut to keep him out, so he won’t step in and start his nonsense with me.
My head fell on the door, hearing Cadell from the other side saying to me, “You do know I can find my way in with or without this door, right?” He chuckled.
What he said made me blush. I know he can get in if he wants to, but I don’t want that.
“You Perv. Let me bath in peace. You can trouble me later, but not now,” I pleaded, placing my palms against the door, reminiscing on his touch.
There was silent for a few second, until he responded, “Okay, my Queen. As you wish.”
“Silly,” I giggled, listening to his footsteps distancing from my room.
The sound of his feet drawing further away, caused a sudden well of emotions within me. I curiously opened the door slightly and saw Cadell leaving.
He didn’t act all crazy like he does, but listened.
It felt… nice.
“Perfect for me alone,” the words echoed in my head, reminding me of the blurry image I saw.
“That was strange. The forest, those lovers… Who are they?” I asked confusingly, heading for the bathroom.
.
Three days after that incident, Cadell decided to start training me as promised.
I was excited that I did all the chores at home without giving Mom any reason to complain. She was even amazed at my sudden energy, wondering if I woke up at the wrong side of the bed.
Who wouldn’t be excited?!
I’m finally going to learn how to summon my wolf and move out from the wolfless stage to Full Wolf!
It’s a breaking point for this Omega.
“This is so awesome!” I shrieked, dancing around Cadell while heading towards the forest with him.
He felt the woods would be the best place to train than in the open. I agreed with him on that. It’s indeed the perfect hiding spot for us, especially for Cadell.
“What are we doing first?” I asked, grabbing Cadell’s hand and swinging it back and forth. But he kept tossing my hand out of his, walking faster with a grumpy face.
What’s with the face?
Nah! It’s one of his madness.
“Wait, how will I know when my wolf is about to show itself?! I hope it won’t rip me open! Oh, so many questions to ask!” I panicked, jumping around Cadell crazily.
“Will you be quiet?!” Cadell suddenly sparked out, lifting me off the ground and on his shoulder without any hesitation.
This surprised me. “What are you doing?”
“You have been talking since! One more question and I’ll dump you in a hole!” he threatened, walking faster.
Fascinating! Someone is mad. ” Why are you so grumpy this morning, my Pervy friend? Don’t tell me one of your hotties broke up with you before you even asked her out?” I joking, poking his back.
Only to feel a hard slap on my buttocks that shut me in an instant!
“Ouch! Are you mad?!”
“Quiet!” Cadell slapped my behind again, making me cry and struggle on his shoulder. “STOP!” I screamed, trying to shield my butt. But he kept tapping me there until I gave up, begging him for mercy. “I was only expressing my excitement! Is it a crime?!” I cried, lowering my head on his back.
“Troublesome! All you know how to do is stress my life!” Cadell grumbled, walking faster, and making my head bounce on his back.
Troublesome? Who’s he calling troublesome?! Between the two of us, he’s the king of trouble.
“How dare you call… AH!” I screamed, falling hard to the ground with my butt.
Turns out we have arrived at our destination and I didn’t know because someone is too mad to tell me.
“Seriously?” I pointed at the ground where he placed me, so he’d understand the message I was passing. “Aren’t you going to do anything?” I dimmed my eyes, waiting for an apology.
Instead of feeling remorseful towards his action, Cadell scoffed and turned his back on me!
“What?! Cadell!”
“Don’t call my name. Since you’ve decided to hurt my feelings, I’m going to hurt you too. No training for you,” he threatened, walking away.
I thought he was playing, not until I saw how far he had gone, leaving me behind.
“Hey! Don’t leave!” Quickly, I got to my feet and ran after him, stopping him on his track.
“Come on, what did I do? Why are you treating me like this?!” I questioned, pulling Cadell back to the training floor . “You have been squeezing your face since we left home. Why won’t you tell me what’s bothering you?”
“So, you don’t know?”
“Know? How am I supposed to know if you won’t tell me?”
He narrowed his brow at me, like I know what my crime is but don’t want to speak.
Gosh, he’s a pain in the neck.
Accepting my crime, which I still don’t know, I apologized to Cadell with a smile. “I’m sorry if I’ve hurt you, Cadell. Please can we bury the hatchet and be buddies again? Please?” I begged, taking his hands into mine, and displaying my googly eyes.
I thought he would fall for the eyes and forget whatever I did, but he wasn’t ready to let go, without a condition.
“What’s that?” I asked, suspecting him.
Then he said, gently grabbing my hands into his. “Fulfill your promise and I’ll forgive you.”
“My promise? Which one?” I asked confusingly.
But seeing how Cadell bit his lower lip, staring at my lips… “Oh shit!” I remembered the promise.
“Do you recall every words you said that day? You promised to run away with me and be my Queen.”
“I did?!” my eyes grew large, watching Cadell caress my hands with his cheeks lovingly.
“Yes, you did. You made a lot of promises to me, but you don’t remember all except for one.” He slowly pecked my hands, causing my body to shiver.
Of course I remember. The kiss.
Ah Geez.
“So? Am I getting it now or do I take it by force as promised?” he asked, ready to pull me close. But on recalling how I felt that day in my bedroom, I panicked, dodging Cadell.
“Maybe… Maybe after the training. Yeah, after that I’ll give it to you,” I said, smiling at Cadell while drawing away from him.
But looking at his face, I felt he doubted my words.
“Okay. I’m going to give you the chance to play as you like because once the training is over…” He smirked, rubbing his chin like a Creep!
I got the message alright. It sounds scary.
Not that I don’t want to fulfill my promise to Cadell… It’s just that whenever he gets closer to me, I start acting funny and getting this tingly feeling around my heart.
The more he touches me, the more I feel drawn to him. And it makes me uncomfortable. I feel so terrified just thinking about it. I can’t explain.
“Let’s begin,” Cadell said, picking a stick and drawing a line on the ground.
“Be cool, Eve. Just compose yourself and give him the kiss as promised. It won’t harm you. Yeah, it’s just a kiss.”
I make it sound so easy. But when the training started and Cadell tried to support me from the waist or the back, I’d jump out of the way fearfully.
“Sorry,” I would apologize and try to work on my own.
It seemed Cadell was taking note of this because he kept smirking directly at me, like he was passing a reminder to me.
I can’t do this!
“Time out!” I said, heading towards the bush at the right. “I need to take a break, please,” I said, diving into the bush, distancing myself from Cadell.
Really I needed an alone time to think about this. “What if the kiss leads to something unexpected? What if I end up falling for… No! I can’t fall for that Perv. He’s a crazy man! ARGH! What am I going to do? Think Eve!”
I slapped my head, walking further into the woods when I heard voices coming from the left side. That got me turning to see a group of girls surrounding a tree with their arms stretched out.
“What’s going on there?” I wondered, slowly approaching the group. Only to hear my name being called by one of the girls, loudly.
“Evolet!”
“Derby?” I recognized my friend among the group. She dived out of their midst and came hugging me tightly.
“I’m so happy to see you, Eve! Thank you goddess for granting my wish,” Derby rejoiced, embracing me.
Looking closely at the others, I realized it was all the remaining participants of the hunt that where here.
“What are you all doing here?” I asked, noticing their eyes falling on me.
“Great! If it isn’t the fake Luna Violet,” Fiona’s voice came in.
I’ve even forgotten that she was among the contestants. But on hearing her voice, my detest for her began to rise.
“What brings you to the woods, Eve? Don’t tell me you now work as a farmer?” she mocked, laughing with a few girls.
I rolled my eyes and faced Derby, asking why they where out here in the forest. “I thought the Queen made it a rule that no damsel should leave the mansion?”
“Well, the Queen kind of…”
“I spoke to the Queen about her rules, and she granted us the privilege to leave the mansion as we like. All thanks to me,” Fiona bragged, trying to show herself.
I understood her message clearly. She’s trying to brag about her position in the mansion. But it’s none of my business.
“Good for you, Fiona. But that doesn’t explain why you girls are in the forest with no guards protecting you. What if something bad happens to you all?”
“Don’t worry about us, Heroine,” Fiona mocked, stepping forward. “Alpha Allen will come and save us. After all, he’s the Alpha. We don’t need your help.” She smirked, tilting her head.
Her attitude was beginning to annoy me. I felt like walking away and just leaving them when I heard something from the top of the tree they had surrounded. “Meow.”
“Huh?” I looked up and saw an orange cat looking straight at me, innocently.
That’s when it hit me. “You are trying to get the cat? Like your pet?” I asked Fiona, who frowned at me.
“We are saving it! Just go away!” She groaned, returning to the tree and begging the cat to come to her.
“Save my ass. She is the one who sent that poor creature up there. And that’s because she wants to prove to the others that she can also tame an animal like Luna Violet. In short… She’s jealous of you,” Derby whispered, laughing.
I should have known.
Fiona isn’t an animal lover. She’s more of the kick and chase.
“She must be doing this to impress the Queen and Allen. Good luck to that,” I scoffed, ready to leave when suddenly… “KITTY!” Fiona and the others screamed, pointing at the cat that jumped into another branch, looking straight at me again.
“Come on Kitty. Come to me,” Fiona said, opening her arms for the cat.
But to the girls surprise, the cat jumped off the tree and straight at my direction!
I was stunned when I saw this, but felt this warmth in my heart, forcing me to open my arms to this creature. And it safely landed in my hold, looking into my eyes.
I did the same, finding it’s beautiful eyeballs so cute. That’s when it meowed and licked my cheek, burying itself in my arms.
This was out of my list. I never thought I’d be chosen by a cat today of all days. I’m amazed.
“Oh my goodness! He likes you!” Derby screamed, drawing closer to pet the kitty.
I lifted my eyes and found the others staring at me in shock. They all directed their gaze at a furious Fiona, who felt defeated and extremely jealous.
It ain’t my fault. She brought this on herself.
