CHAPTER 38

EVOLET
“It’d be best if you back off, Tiger. She’s with me,” Cadell said to Trent, shielding me from his view.
“Cadell, what are you doing?” I asked, about to lower his arm from blocking my way, but I was stunned with the way Cadell pushed me back, not roughly just gently, telling Trent to walk away. “There are other stores to shop from, buddy. How about picking from the others and not this one?”
What has gotten into him?
“I’m sorry, but who are you?” Trent asked, looking confused.
His question made Cadell chuckle out, pointing at him. “How ironic,” Cadell chuckled. “I should be asking you that question, not the other way around, Stranger.”
“Stranger? Sorry, but my name isn’t stranger.”
“Oh, my apology. Isn’t Stranger, is your real name, right? I should take note of that then.”
“Cadell, stop!” I intervened, forcing his arm out of my way.
I stood in-between them, facing a furious Cadell. He was mad, puffing out steam, while Trent just gazed at him in confusion.
Why is he acting like this?
“Trent, I am so sorry.”
“No, I should be the one apologizing, Evolet.” Trent smiled, directing his eyes on Cadell. “I didn’t know you had a bull head for a boyfriend.”
“What did you call me, pretty boy?” I saw Cadell’s eye’s widen in rage, drawing closer to grab Trent by the throat.
Quickly, I held him against the chest, pushing him away from Trent. Still, Cadell wouldn’t budge. He wanted to strangle Trent, and Trent was making it worst by adding more salt to the matter.
“I can’t help it, Evolet. But you deserve better than this bull. You deserve a calm man like myself. That’s if you don’t mind me taking his place.” Trent winked at me, annoying Cadell even more.
“You call that flirting?!”
“Cadell!” I struggled with him.
“Try that outside with another lady. I bet she’ll end up dead on the road side!”
“CADELL!” I dragged his head down to face me, looking straight into his eyeballs.
He was breathing heavily like an engine, finding it hard to control his temper.
“Swallow it, now,” I ordered, narrowing my brow down.
And within a minute, he was calm. Well, not fully calm.
“I’ll be around, my pretty Evolet,” Trent said, gaining mine and Cadell’s attention. “And I hope to see you again… without him. Just the two of us, okay?” he said with a smile, dropping some money down next to the mirror I wanted, before walking away.
As soon as he left, Cadell stormed pass me and into the store to grab the clothes he had selected. His mood made me scared, because he almost ran the old man down with his huge body, before grabbing the mirror and saying to the elderly man, “That Pork left is giving out free money and left this for you. The money for this mirror is here.”
He slammed some notes down and grabbed my hand, dragging me out of the market.
Even though Trent’s sudden attitude against Cadell surprised me, it didn’t scare me like that of Cadell’s.
Dude was acting like a beast!
Not just a beast, but a… “Hold on,” I said, pulling my hand out of Cadell’s hold.
He turned around to face me, still in his mood. “What now? Can’t you see that we’re wasting time? Do you want your mother to get mad at you for returning home late?” He questioned, glaring at me.
That only added to my suspicion.
“What was all that drama back there?”
“What drama?” He lifted his brow, acting like he doesn’t know a thing.
“You know what I’m talking about, you grumpy ass. The fight with Trent! What was all that about?”
“Trent? So, you know him?” Cadell asked, widening his eyes at me. I saw his brow narrowing down in anger, with his hand tightening the handle of the shopping bags into a fist.
“I don’t know him, he just told me.”
“And now his name sounds sweet in your mouth, huh? Trent Boy, Oh Trent, Stop Trent, Trenty Trent,” he sang in mockery, rolling his eyes.
And when I saw this, my mouth dropped.
“Hell no.”
“What?” Cadell uttered, turning around to resume with our walk.
That’s when I blew the bomb, stopping him in his track. “You’re jealous, aren’t you?”
“What?!” Cadell speedily turned over to face me, looking shocked.
“Oh my goodness! You’re jealous of Trent!” I laughed out loudly, pointing at Cadell.
His face came swollen in rage, as he pointed back in his defense, saying, “I am not jealous of that donkey! Cadell doesn’t get jealous! It’s the ladies job to be jealous when they see me with another lady! And you better start practicing because you’ll be seeing me with a lot of hot sexy goddesses soon!”
“Ah, keep living the dream, Jealous Cadell,” I teased, walking pass him.
He glared at me with his red face, as I cat walked ahead, composing a song with the word ‘Jealousy’ to piss him off.
He didn’t like it at all.
Ha! I’m going to enjoy this.
.
Arriving at my place, Cadell, who was now a wolf, stood next to me with a long face. He hasn’t gotten over my taunts and he kept giving me this creepy look, which I fear has a bad motive behind that gaze.
“I will not stop singing that song. It will be your new lullaby,” I giggled, hearing Cadell growl at me.
All of a sudden, he pushed me towards the door with his head without any notice. I wanted to place my hands on the door for support but panicked when it came open. “AHH!” I screamed, falling right before my mother’s feet.
She was standing at the door, looking at me like I was some kind of weirdo. “What are you doing?” She asked, tilting her head to the side.
“Hi Mom,” I grinned, about to rise from the floor when Cadell walked into the house like a saint, dropping the bags next to me.
He smiled deviously at me before switching into character, acting like a good wolf before my mother.
“How sweet. You’re indeed hardworking. I made you something nice, Wolfy. It’s in the kitchen,” Mom said, petting Cadell on the head.
He happily caressed Mom with his head, but grinned at me like a creep! Then he ran off to get his treat, leaving me with Mom.
“You went shopping?” Mom asked, looking at the bags.
“Um… Yeah, I did,” I responded, getting on my feet.
“What happened to your shirt?” Mom asked, sniffing it. “It smells awful!”
I forgot to change because of that jealous jack ass!
“It’s a long story, but…” Carefully, I picked the bag with the mirror and said, facing Mom, “I also got you something. I hope you like it.”
“Oh,” Mom uttered, looking amused.
She carefully reached for the bag and held it. When she brought out the mirror, I saw a glow on her face. It was the same sparkle she had on back in the days. The shimmers she always had on when our family was a whole.
“You like it?”
“Yeah,” she responded, looking at her reflection.
“It’s just like the one Dad got for you then. He always held it up so you’d look at yourself and admire your beauty,” I said, reminding her of the past. And it made her smile. She’s recalling the good times.
But Mom didn’t want to dwell in that happy moment. She immediately switched into her grumpy nature and questioned me about the Queen’s call. “Did she call you to return to the hunt because of yesterday?” she shut the door, walking into the living room.
I know Mom is mad about what I did yesterday, but I had to listen to my heart and solve that problem. And also, I don’t want her to know what the Queen and Sorceress Thelma did. It will freak her out.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
“Huh?” I lifted my eyes and saw Mom looking at me with her arms crossed. Her right brow lifted as she asked, jumping to conclusion, “So, you agreed to return to the game? Is that why you bought me this mirror to ease my temper?”
“No Mom. She just wanted to thank me. She didn’t ask me to return to the game. Even if she did make an offer to get me to join again, my answer is No,” I said, clearing the air between us.
Mom couldn’t say anything. She just glanced at me then at the mirror, like a young girl hiding her emotions from the world. “Oh, I… I thought she called you for that. I didn’t know.” She managed to loo at me with her head lowered.
Oh Mom.
“But I bought that mirror to apologize for yesterday,” I confessed, drawing closer to her with a smile.
Taking her hands into my hold, I apologized to my Mom properly, seeking for her forgiveness. “I did what my heart wanted me to do.”
She hummed, staring into my eyes. Then she said with a light curve at the side of her lips, “Of course you did… Luna Violet.”
My body shivered when she called me that. Has she joined the trend now?
Goddess! Now Mom is calling me that name? Damn.
“But I like and don’t like the attention you’re getting. It’s making me uncomfortable,” Mom groaned, grabbing her handbag from the couch.
This showed that she was heading out before I my arrival. Good thing I met her before she left.
“Wait, Like and don’t like?” I pointed that out, waiting for an explanation.
Then she answered, “I don’t like how everyone is gathering and calling you the late Queen’s name. It can be dangerous for you. But I like how it’s eating up Fiona’s mother from within. She can’t bear to hear your praise.” Mom laughed, walking towards the door.
“I’ll be back in the evening. I just need to see my tailor. I bet she’ll give me a nice discount when she sees whose mother is at her shop,” she chuckled, stepping out of the house.
I laughed at Mom’s attitude, finding it hilarious. Most importantly, I was happy that she forgave me without getting into a fight like before.
“Thank you Goddess,” I appreciated, grabbing the bag containing my clothes and heading to my room.
“I need to take my bath and get this smell off me. Looks like it’s good bye to this top,” I sighed, taking off the shirt and dumping it in the trash bin.
Still putting on my singlet which was having that stench, I carefully lifted it over my head while stepping into my room, just to hear… “Wow! What a show!”
“What?” Quickly, I took the singlet out of my view and found Cadell on my bed, eating the treat Mom made for him!
“First, your Mom made this juicy treat, and now you want to give me free entertainment. This is heaven indeed.” He grinned while chewing.
“Cadell! I thought you where in the kitchen?!” I shouted.
He didn’t care about the question but said, pointing at my chest, “Forget about that. How about taking your bra off, huh? And dance while at it.”
Hearing what he said, I dropped my eyes on my chest and screamed, covering my chest with my singlet.
“You pervert! Get out of my room!” I yelled, pointing at the door.
Cadell laughed and laid fully on my bed, occupying the whole space like he owns it. “Make me, Stinky.”
I groaned at what he called me and decided to teach him a lesson. With a threat of course.
“Cadell, if you don’t leave I’m going to sing my latest song until you give up.”
“I dare you, Eve.” He sat up, glaring at me. “If you sing that song, I am going to make you regret it.”
“Wanna bet, Jealous Cadell?” I smirked, grabbing the broomstick in my room, as my mic.
That made Cadell drag himself out of bed to the edge, with his eyes fixed at me.
But who gives a damn? I’m singing this song!
Positioning my broom, I began, “If you are visiting Wolf Fall for the first time.”
“Evolet!” Cadell charged at me.
Quickly, I ran to the corner, still singing. “Don’t forget to visit the king of JEALOUSY! His name is CADELL!”
“Evolet!” He shouted, chasing me around the room.
“He will teach you all the phases of jealousy because he’s the KING! The King of JEALOUSY! We call him Jealous CADELL!” I laughed while singing.
“Come here!”
“AH!” I screamed, falling into bed with Cadell.
He successfully caught me and began using my hands to smack my own mouth.
“JEALOUS!”
“I am neither jealous nor the King of Jealousy! Correct yourself!”
“I rather kiss the floor than change my statement. Or even better…” I laughed while he kept smacking my face. “I rather kiss Trent than…”
Before I could complete my statement, Cadell covered my mouth, stopping me.
He no longer smacked my face but stared at me, shunning me with his hand.
“Don’t say that,” he said, slowly sliding his hand off my mouth. “You will kiss no one else, not even that clown… but me alone.”
My body shivered while listening to his words. I felt paralyzed under his body, but I didn’t mind. Cadell’s words felt more important to me at the moment.
“Fine… I admit it. I am jealous. And that’s because another asshole was holding your hands when it should be me.”
“Oh. Then… who’s the first asshole?”
“Allen of course.”
We both laughed, recalling how Alpha Allen tried to flirt with me today. Then we went silent, staring into each other’s eyes.
Slowly, I felt Cadell’s right hand cupping my cheek, caressing it slowly. He drew closer to me, saying, “I’ve been around different ladies of shapes and sizes. But none of them possess the peace and happiness I get when I’m around you. That’s why you’re perfect… for Cadell.”
I gasped, watching him close the gap between us with his lips stroking my cheek smoothly on the surface. It made my whole body vibrate. I felt his hand play with my body passionately, causing heat to arise from within.
I wasn’t expecting this kind of scenario to take place between us. And… I don’t have any plans of stopping him. My body… it doesn’t want him to stop. It wants Cadell.
I felt his lips playing with my face, before feeling a peck on my forehead from Cadell, who muttered to me, “Perfect for me, alone.”
And the moment he said that, I saw a blurry image flash before my eyes in an instant. It looked like the forest at night with two lovers making out in the beautiful night.
I couldn’t see them. That’s when the statement Cadell made, echoed in my ears like a song, causing my body to shake.
What was that?
Just then… “Evolet!”
“Mom?” I gasped, looking at Cadell, who was also surprised to hear her voice.
I thought she left to see her tailor?
