EVOLET
Cadell came back as promised, but not empty handed.
In his mouth held a long golden chain, which he took from the arena. Seems he knew things won’t work out well with me and the Alpha.
“Someone came prepared,” I smirked at him, watching him growl at the Werecat, who was struggling to get back on his feet.
Looks like Cadell’s attack struck him hard. He managed to rise, glaring directly at Cadell and I, with his eyes flashing intensely at us.
On seeing his gaze, I knew he wasn’t going to go easy on us, but I’m ready for him.
“Get set, Cadell. This Tiger is as stubborn as hell,” I said, taking my position.
Cadell stood next to me, still growling at the Alpha Cat. And somehow, it seems that increased the Alpha’s annoyance.
“You think you can chain me down?” he rose to his feet, cracking his neck bone. “If I was able to break out from that rusty chain in the first place, what makes you think you can bound me?” He growled, taking his stance.
His right leg positioned behind the other, showed he was about to make his move. With a quick plan on how to handle this stubborn creature, I flashed a glance at Cadell, nodding at him lightly. He was quick to understand the sign without any word.
“It may be one of my people’s weakness, but as the Alpha, I can withstand any threat!” He dared, roaring at us.
When I saw this… “Cadell!” I yelled his name immediately, stretching my hand out quickly.
And with speed, Cadell tossed the golden chain at me, before the Alpha Cat came speeding towards us.
As soon as I grabbed the chain, Cadell and I separated instantly, avoiding the Alpha Cat’s attack.
With the chain in my hold, the Werecat came after me, launching his attacks furiously. The sight of the chain had increased his anger, and I was trying my best to make sure he didn’t get a hold of me.
In rage, he sent his left leg kicking at my point in a flash, but I had seen it coming. I forced myself to backflip three times, before swinging an end of the chain in a loop directly at the Werecat.
He immediately dodged the curl, coming at me with steam. I just tried to keep my distance from him, moving around while tossing the chain at him.
This I carried on until the Alpha Cat nearly gave me a surprise attack with his claws coming for my face.
But before his hand could touch the bridge of my nose, the Alpha was forced to the ground unexpectedly. When he looked back to see what had happened, he was stunned to meet Cadell at the other side with the other edge of the golden chain in his mouth.
Just as I planned. Cadell got the chain when the Alpha avoided it, and went around the Tiger the same time as me.
The Alpha didn’t see it coming. He was just focused on me.
“What… What is…”
“You dared us, didn’t you?” I uttered, getting his attention. “And you got your answer. I am nothing like the others. I am different,” I said, glaring at the Werecat with my hand wrapping the chain tightly.
In his eyes, I could tell what was written within. “Ashamed of yourself? You should be. After all, you’re being beaten by an Omega and a mere wolf. What will your people say?”
“SHUT IT!” He roared, rising to attack me.
“SIT!” I commanded loudly, stumping on the chain which forced the Alpha down on his knees, with his head bowing to the ground.
The Gold was taking it’s effect on the Alpha Cat. He was getting weak, unable to move any more.
Once I had him down with Cadell still holding the other end, I heard that same voice from earlier whispering to me. “You know what to do. It’s the right thing,” It said.
With the way the Alpha had behaved, I felt nothing but anger towards him. He didn’t give me the chance to explain myself. But now, I’ll do what is right.
Just when I was about to take my steps towards him… “She defeated the Werecat!” Voices echoed out loudly from the corners, stunning me.
I lifted my eyes to see that the once silent and lonely area was now filled with the people of Wolf Fall.
Not all.
They had seen how Cadell and I brought down the Alpha Cat, and I didn’t even know!
“It’s the Damsel with a pet wolf!”
“Goddess, she’s strong! She took down the Werecat on her own!”
“She has saved Wolf Fall. All hail the Goddess!” They all began to cheer out loudly, singing my praise.
I felt pleased when they all applauded me. It’s more than the cheers they gave to me during the hunt. This felt so heartwarming. It made my lips spread a bit.
But the smile faded when I heard some of the pack members talking about my fight with Fiona. To them, after witnessing this battle with the Alpha Cat, the fight was suspicious.
I had to act like I didn’t hear them, only to turn away and spot Alpha Allen, Gamma Dave, and his guards staring at me in shock.
They had seen the fight and didn’t intervene. And now, both Alpha and Gamma had their eyes locked with mine, as they directed it to the fallen Tiger, then back at me.
It was uncomfortable looking at Allen. The Pervert was gawking at me like he has was just seeing me for the first time.
Irritated, I dropped my eyes at the Alpha Cat to break the lock with Allen. The more I look at him, the more I feel disgusted with the fact that he was the one who took my first kiss.
“Omega!” Sorceress Thelma’s voice came in, getting me to look at her point.
She was leaping towards me and the Alpha Cat, shimmering her gaze at me. She was stunned to see the Alpha before my feet.
“This is impressive. You… You caught the werecat by yourself?” she asked, letting out a smile.
But I didn’t give her an answer. I just stared at Cadell’s direction and noticed the discomfort on his face.
He’s not the only one who doesn’t like this. I hate it.
“Good! You have done great, Evolet! For this, you shall be given a second chance at the hunt. A woman with such bravery deserves a reward,” she said, flashing her teeth at me.
When she made that statement, I noticed Allen drawing closer slowly, tucking his sword to the side. He was still in amazement, looking straight at me.
“Yes, Evolet. You deserve it. The Queen must hear about your courage in taking out the pack’s enemy. Isn’t that right, Alpha Allen?” she asked, looking at Allen.
He couldn’t give a response but gaze, with his hand falling at the back of his neck.
“What’s wrong with this one now?” I narrowed my eyes at Allen.
With what the Sorceress had said, the people gladly agreed, supporting her decision.
But it’s not what I want. I don’t want to be in the hunt anymore. Goddess, what can I do?
Again, I looked at the Werecat and noticed he was looking at me. He just gazed back weakly, before placing his head on the ground, face flat.
Seeing this, I felt… strange.
“Now, hand the Werecat over. We will take it from here,” Sorceress Thelma said, drawing closer to me. She stretched out her hand to take hold of the chain when my body suddenly vibrated, pushing me to do something unexpected.
Right before my people… “No,” I refused the sorceress, avoiding her grip.
My action stunned everyone, mostly the elderly sorceress, who took this as an insult.
“What did you say?”
“It’s a No. I… I won’t allow you to take him away. I refuse it,” I said, standing my ground.
This got everyone mumbling over my behavior, taking it as a disrespect to the Sorceress.
She was mad. I could see it all over her face.
She had her hand tightened into a fist as she smirked and said, “Evolet, don’t forget who you are in this pack. Only the Queen and the Alpha have the final say to any situation. You are just an Omega.”
“I haven’t forgotten, that’s why I said No.”
“GIRL!” The Sorceress sparked, flashing her wolf eyes at me. But I wasn’t moved, neither was afraid.
“Quit your nonsense and do as you have been told! Do you want me to spell it out?!”
“Calm down,” Allen stepped in, trying to subdue the sorceress rage. “Let me talk to her. I’m sure she’ll…”
“It’s also a No for you, Alpha Allen,” I interrupted, giving him his answer before he could talk. I don’t want to know what he wants to say.
“I am not handing him over to you. It’s a No.”
Allen’s eye’s came wide at my response. He didn’t know what to say next but rub his jaw instead.
That’s how I used that opportunity to speak further, following my heart.
“Don’t think I don’t have the pack’s best interest at heart. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have stopped the Werecat in the first place,” I said to everyone, including Allen and the sorceress.
Sighing out, I looked at the Alpha Cat who now had his head lifted, staring at me. Before all, I said, dropping the chain from my hold, “I don’t think he came here to attack us. He mean us no harm.”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Sorceress Thelma roared, getting ready to unleash her power at the Werecat. That’s when Cadell stepped in, growling at her.
She stopped at once, groaning at us.
With the chains off mine and Cadell’s hold, the Alpha Cat was free. His freedom frightened the people to the point that Gamma Dave had to order the guards to take position, just in case he strikes. But I had a feeling he wouldn’t.
The Alpha rose to his feet feeling strong. He faced my direction with a heavy sigh, tightening his hand.
Knowing what I did had made him mad, I said, “You won’t blame me for stopping you, Alpha. I did what anyone with a heart would do. It was for my people… and for you. That’s why I released you. I know you didn’t come here to attack us. You… you came for something else. Is that right?”
He kept glaring at me, but mellowed his anger towards me.
“Look, I don’t want to hurt you. I want to help you with whatever it is you’re looking for. Trust me.”
Carefully, I stretched out my hand to the Werecat, showing my support.
“Are you crazy?! He’s our enemy!” Sorceress Thelma yelled. But no one else said a thing, not even Allen.
The Alpha gazed at me for some minute before doing something shocking. He went on one knee to reach my level and placed his forehead on my hand.
And the moment he did that, I saw something flash before my eyes. Two… cubs!
Two little Lion cubs were playing around and suddenly vanished into the woods. I could hear their cry for help in my head, and the direction came from… “Wolf Fall?” I gasped, feeling my whole body shivering.
“How did I do that?” I muttered, still in shock while looking at my hand. When I lifted my eyes to look at the Alpha Cat, he stared at me in surprise, almost as if he felt the vibration that went around me.
“You are wasting our precious time, Omega! Move aside or else…” Sorceress Thelma threatened.
Allen, who has been quiet, finally voiced out, saying, “Evolet, standing against the orders of the Royal family will…”
“Did two cubs step into Wolf Fall?” I interrupted again, turning to face Sorceress Thelma and Allen.
They both looked confused, lifting their brows at me.
