EVOLET
“Well, look who decided to join the party. Her Royal majesty herself,” Gamma Dave announced, setting everyone’s attention on me.
Since the Queen had ordered me to join the training, I just came down to the arena and met the others practicing.
The sorceress wasn’t present, but that grumpy Gamma was. And from the way he made my presence known to the others, it was clear that he was going to make this training harder for me.
“What made you leave your chamber, your majesty? Could it be that you finally met the true Queen’s wrath and shamelessly came to join the training?” he asked with mockery, smirking at me.
What he said got the other damsels laughing, most especially Fiona, who stood at the center with the others standing behind her.
She was acting like the boss lady of the group, with her shoulders lifted high. I bet in my absence she did so many amazing things to get the others to worship her. After all, that’s her special power, to act like the leader.
But when flashes of her nakedness before Allen came to my mind, I immediately took my eyes away from her, settling it back on the Gamma.
I don’t want to recall that horrible night.
Lowering my head a bit, I responded to what Gamma Dave had said, “With due respect, Gamma, I wasn’t relaxing but taking care of my wolf.”
“That is not an excuse, Omega!” he voiced out strongly, drawing closer to me. “Just because you’re among the hunt, doesn’t make you a part of the Royal family, that you can do as you like!” he roared, making me uncomfortable.
I kept my head down, enduring the harsh words from the Gamma, who didn’t care about what I said to him.
“If not for the fact that you are wolfless and the Queen took pity on you to bring that bush animal into her home, by now your pet would have been a dead meat, tossed into the wild!”
Hearing what he said, I felt annoyed. There was a sudden vibration that took over me at once, causing my head to rise at the Gamma, glaring into his eyes.
He saw the flame in my gaze and glowered back, asking, “What? You want to fight me for speaking the truth, huh weakling?” He grinned devilishly, poking my left shoulder roughly.
I staggered back, feeling my anger rising by the minute, as I tightened my hand into a fist.
There was this hunger welling inside of me. The desire to punch the face of this asshole that calls himself the Alpha’s Gamma.
Recalling Allen’s true nature and how both his Gamma and Beta supports his deeds, I felt this strong hatred swelling in my heart for them. In my eyes, they are disgusting and deserve to be dealt with!
But with which hands?
I am a weakling who isn’t sure if my wolf will ever come out to save me from the shame of being called wolfless in my pack. Without my wolf, I can’t do anything.
I am just a weakling.
“That’s what I thought,” Gamma Dave scoffed, poking me again on the right shoulder this time.
The force he used made me stagger back, almost making me lose my steps. But Derby rushed in to help me. She stood behind, using her body as a support to save me from falling.
When I looked at her, she gave me a smile of assurance that she was here for me.
Goodness! She’s the best.
“The next game will be in a few days. Pray you can learn one or two things before that day comes,” the Gamma said, turning his back to resume with the training.
Sighing out, I faced Derby and thanked her for her help.
“It’s okay, Eve. We’re in this together,” she said, smiling at me while extending her hand out. “Even if he doesn’t give you all the necessary tips in this training, I will.” She winked, giggling.
Her giggles almost affected me, but I was able to compose myself, so that Mr. Rage won’t think we’re laughing at him. But honestly speaking, Derby is indeed a true friend.
We don’t know much about ourselves, but she already treats me like her bestie.
“Come on, let’s join the others.”
“Sure,” I agreed, following her.
When the training resumed, the Gamma placed all his attentions and aggression on me, just as I predicted.
He was keen on breaking my spirit and proving I was wrong, by going rough with me during the sword practice.
Had it been that the sword was made of real silver and not wood, the Gamma would have killed me.
His training with me was reckless. It made me wish I could run away from this place and call it a quit, but I couldn’t do that.
“WOW!” I exclaimed, falling to the ground on missing my steps.
That’s when a roar of laughter came from the girls, who were enjoying the mistreatment being given to me by the Gamma.
“End of practice,” he said, tossing the wooden sword at me without any care.
He faced the others and began to share an announcement, while Derby took that opportunity to help me to my feet. “Tomorrow will mark your last training for the next round. Make sure you get yourselves ready for that day, because on the battleground you won’t be going against your friend but your rival. So, be prepared,” he shared.
The ladies had a brief pause, looking at one another, before facing the Gamma and bowing at him with respect.
“Thank you, Gamma Dave,” they appreciated.
Gamma Dave gave a hum before taking a look at me.
I know what that stare means.
He can mock me for all I care. Besides, I don’t plan to emerge to the next round. I plan to lose and get evicted from this hunt.
The Gamma soon left the arena, leaving us behind. That’s when Fiona walked up to Derby and I, chuckling.
“What?” I questioned, glowering at her.
“Oh Eve, what happened to you? You don’t look like yourself any more.” She covered her mouth with her hands, showing her fake sympathy.
“What happened to the Evolet who was determined to beat me? Don’t tell me you allowed that animal to drain you?’ she laughed, crossing her arms.
“Get lost, Fiona,” Derby groaned, standing for me.
“Shut it, rat! Is your name, Evolet?” Fiona sparked at Derby, drawing closer to her.
When I saw this, I immediately pulled Derby back and stood in front of Fiona, eyeball to eyeball. “Don’t talk to my friend like that. You are not the Alpha’s Luna, so quit this act, Miss Wannabe.”
Fiona came out laughing, clapping her hands at me. “How sweet. Your friend huh? That used to be my title, Eve.”
“And I’m glad it no longer belongs to you, because you don’t deserve to be called a friend, not even a sister. You don’t deserve it!”
“But the word ‘Luna’ fits me perfectly,” she smirked, tilting her head to the side.
My hand curled into a fist, desperate to hit Fiona right in the face.
Luna indeed. To a pervert that calls himself our Alpha.
“You and I know the truth, Eve. I have all the friends I can ask for, but you don’t. Everyone likes me, even the Queen herself. But what about you? No one likes you. Not even your mother,” she grinned, crossing her arms again.
“Keep my mother out of your mouth!” I sparked, pointing at her.
She just scoffed, swaying her head at me.
If she hadn’t stabbed me in the back over Allen, my mother and I wouldn’t have argued that day.
“Sorry, momma’s girl. But it won’t change the truth. No one likes you, even her. Even if all the damsels are struggling to win the Alpha’s heart, they know for a fact that if he doesn’t choose them, he will choose the strongest and loved maiden among us. And that’s me,” she bragged, flipping her hair to the back.
“You know this but don’t want to accept the truth, Eve. You have lost your so-called challenge already. No need to drag with me any more, okay?” she smiled, giggling.
She wanted to touch my cheek but I slapped it off in disgust, stepping away from her.
That action increased Fiona’s laughter, as she turned around and said to the others, “Let’s go, ladies. Tomorrow is the final day of our training.”
They all listened to her like fools, following her from behind.
Only Derby and I were left at the arena, groaning over Fiona’s pride.
“She’s just full of herself. I won’t be surprised if the Alpha chooses another damsel instead of her. Maybe you,” she grinned, patting my shoulder.
But thinking of Allen made me irritated, that I shoved Derby’s hand off my shoulder.
She read my mood and asked, “What happened? Please don’t tell me you’re taking that witch’s words to heart.”
“No, I’m not. Fiona’s words doesn’t affect me.”
“Then why the face?” she asked, guiding me to a bench at the corner.
Sitting down with Derby, I couldn’t open up and tell her the truth about my feelings towards Allen. She might want to know why I’ve changed my decision towards the Alpha.
I don’t want to talk much about that man, but bury that feeling for good.
“Is it because of what the Gamma said?” she asked, placing her hand on mine.
“Well… Somehow,” I just accepted, shrugging.
Derby chuckled and said, “Look Eve, we all know the Gamma as a hot head man. He has forgotten that we are nothing like his men but young ladies on a hunt for the Alpha’s heart. Well, minus me.”
I chuckled at her last statement.
“He thinks you’re a weakling with no wolf. But in my eyes… You’re the strongest Omega I’ve ever seen.”
“Really?” I stared at Derby, who proudly went on to talk about her take on me. “Yeah, I’m not making this up, Evolet. Among all the damsels here, you’re the only one who gives the vibe of bravery. Despite having an issue with your wolf, you still came here to take part in the hunt. You have defeated other past candidates to be at this level. And what’s so cool about you is the fact that you have a wolf as a pet. Like… Waw!” she shrieked out excitedly.
Hearing her words bloomed my heart. It made me happy.
“I wasn’t wrong when I said you portray a rare example of the late Luna Violet. You are giving the Luna’s vibe.”
“I do?” I blushed, feeling… special.
Derby smirked, bumping my arm lightly. “I guess I’ll nickname you Luna Violet from now on,” she laughed.
I ended up laughing along with my friend, feeling so much better.
Luna Violet, the only Queen I admire. It’s so nice to be seen as the late Queen’s copy, but it’s sad knowing that I don’t possess her skills. The Late Luna can make other creatures bow at her feet with just a wave of a hand, but I can’t do that. I just have Cadell who’s pretending to be my wolf.
Gosh! Now I feel like a fake.
.
I went back to my room and met Cadell, still in his wolf form, sitting close to the door. It was obvious that he was waiting for my return, but I took long.
Shutting the door close, I dragged my feet to the bed and sat on it, telling Cadell what had happened. “The Queen suspects me. She’s watching my every move. She ordered me to join the training in preparation for the next game. Trust me, I’m going to use that opportunity to get what I want and leave this place for good,” I said, taking off my shoes.
I lifted my gaze at Cadell and found him staring back. No noise or drams from him. He just sat there, looking at me.
Somehow, I could read what that expression meant. Cadell… He’s concerned about me.
It felt like he was worried about me, but… “Nah! I must be exaggerating. I bet he’s upset with the fact that I didn’t return early.” I assumed.
To lighten the mood, I said jokingly. “Hey, everything will be okay. You will get your kiss as promised. Don’t be scared.” I laughed, pulling myself fully into bed.
That’s when I saw a smile on Cadell’s face. He was happy.
He got to his feet and walked up to me, jumping right into bed with his head falling on my lap. He did this calmly without being pervy.
It felt nice.
I gently ran my fingers on his fur, petting Cadell. It didn’t take long for my Pervy wolf to fall asleep on my laps. And when he did, his body was engulfed with dark smoke which cleared up soon, revealing a human Cadell, sleeping.
The sight of this made my heart glow. I felt touched just watching this grown ass man cuddling himself like a child on my lap.
“You’re giving the late Luna’s vibe,” Derby’s words echoed in my head, reminding me of our conversation.
“I’m giving Queen Violet’s vibe? Oh Derby. Can you believe that, Cadell? She thinks I’m like the late Luna,” I chortled, staring at his face.
But this sleeping fellow’s charm brought a smile to my face. I ran my finger through his hair and said, “I wish I had her gift. That way I can help you in achieving your goal and giving you a home. Then you won’t have to leave Wolf fall, but stay here, where I can see you.”
I smiled, but soon felt weird over my statement.
“Damn, I sound like a freaking stalker!”
