EVOLET
Without any question, I followed Cadell until we where deep in the forest. Not too deep, just away from the pack and the guards.
I have never been this far from the pack before. It’s not as if I can’t go to this length in the woods, but I don’t really have the mind.
With the pack’s horn going on every time, alerting the pack of any kind of danger, I’ve always seen the forest as a no-go area.
But maybe tonight will be different.
“Do you still want to see me in my form or are you scared of the woods?” Cadell teased, leading the way.
“Scared? Please, I’m not a kid,” I boasted, following him from behind while being careful with my steps.
Each path he took had something stumbling on the ground. I had to drop my gaze down a lot, just to make sure I don’t trip and fall.
“Not scared, huh? That sounds like a challenge to me.” Cadell chuckled, sounding like a villain.
“You better not be planning something…” Before I could finish my words, Cadell was gone.
“Cadell! I swear if you scare me, I will make you pay! CADELL!” I roared, looking around. But no sign of him.
I know he’s somewhere here looking for the right opportunity to fright me out of my skin.
“I better get myself ready,” I planned, lowering down to grab my shoe. “This is the best weapon used to correct the sense of a grown ass baby. If he thinks he’s smart, I’ll smack him hard.”
Taking hold of my shoe, I heard something rustling in the bush ahead of me.
The moment I rose to see what it was, something dashed towards me with speed, swooping me off the ground and deep into the forest.
“AHH!” I screamed like crazy, seeing my eyes go double while being rumpled in the hold of this maniac that kidnapped me.
My plan was to call out to Cadell for help, not until my eyes came clear and I spotted my captor’s wear.
“Wait a minute. Cadell?!” I recognized, seeing how he hung me on his shoulder like some sack, running and jumping from tree to tree.
“Why you crazy man! I’m going to kill you!’ I roared, about to hit him with the shoe.
All of a sudden, Cadell vanished into dark clouds before my eyes, with no one holding me.
This unexpected move sent me screaming, as I found myself falling from up. The branches I had gripped for support weren’t strong. They kept breaking, drawing me closer to the ground.
“No! No!! NO!!!” I yelled.
Like the wind, darkness covered me in an instant, making it hard to see the ground. What I felt next was my body falling into the strong arms of… Cadell!
His hair and eyes were no longer brown. His white hair waved in the wind while his silver eyes sparkled, smirking at me deviously.
“You… You creep!” I yelled, puffing out in anger.
“Creep huh? Do you want to see how a creep acts?” he dimmed his eyes cunningly, taking off his arms from my body.
I shouted on feeling my body almost dropping off his hold. Quickly, I wrapped my arms around his neck, breathing heavily. “Don’t drop me! Don’t even puff off or else!” I threatened, staring into his eyes.
If not for the state I was in, we wouldn’t be looking into each others eyes or brushing faces this close.
I could tell Cadell was enjoying every moment of my suffering. He had a curve across his lips, as he slowly closed the little gap between us, caressing my cheek with his. I felt a chill run across my skin, feeling both arms go around my body, squeezing me closer to his.
“Don’t be scared. Even if you fall, I won’t let you touch the ground,” he whispered.
The sound of his tone echoed in my head, enticing me like some kind of spell. I don’t know how to put it, but all I can say is that… I’m charmed by his voice.
In the midst of the darkness, I felt Cadell’s cheek slid against mine smoothly, with his hands touching me sensitively. It made my body shiver with delight, causing me to lose my senses.
I didn’t want to let go. I felt like staying like this with Cadell.
“Trust me,” he whispered again, holding my waist.
There was no need to ask why he made that statement. I already understood him.
And as I suspected, Cadell released me from his grip, leaving me to fall off from his point.
I stared at him while falling, swallowing my fear, and believing his words.
That’s when I saw him vanish into dark clouds, which came surrounding me in a swift.
It felt beautiful when the darkness hovered around my body, making me safe. Laughter filled my mouth, with excitement all around.
When I turned over to see how close I was getting to the ground, the darkness engulfed my view, until I felt myself landing on something furry.
“It must be his wolf,” I assumed, recalling his first form.
But when the darkness cleared up, I was astonished to see the form he transformed to at the pack square.
“Wow,” I uttered, feeling my whole body tingling at the sight of the wolf I once got scared of because of the darkness.
This form wasn’t terrifying but… beautiful.
The more I kept looking at this form of Cadell, the more I felt… connected to it.
“Is it just me or have I seen this wolf before?” I wondered within, trying to recollect where.
But there was no time to think because of Cadell. He suddenly dashed into the forest, showing me his skills.
From his speed to agility, It felt like I was the one moving through the woods in my wolf.
I held on to Cadell, cheering out loudly as he ran so fast, jumping from one tree to another.
The excitement increased when he began to switch in the three wolf forms I had seen him in already, showing off his strength in many ways.
It felt like magic to me. I was captivated.
In the midst of my exhilaration, I felt something flash in my mind while Cadell switched in his form, giving me the most amazing moment ever.
Each wolves… They appeared in my head in a foggy way, like… like it’s some kind of dream. I could see other unclear images in my head, causing my cheers to decrease.
“I know I’ve seen his wolf somewhere before, or am I just imagining it?” I wondered, drifting out of the excitement.
But Cadell brought me back in an instant. He switched into his werewolf and got to the top of a big Foxtail pine tree, grabbing the tip for support.
“Oh my goodness. It’s so beautiful,” I gasped out in admiration, staring at the full moon in the clear sky.
I slowly got off Cadell’s back to stand on the branch on my feet. The view was just amazing.
My interest at first was on the big ball in the heaven, shining down on us. But when Cadell howled… I became lost. His voice sounded heavenly, soothing my soul.
I gazed at him as he yowled to the moon, allowing the wind to flow through his fur.
The sight of this was just heartwarming.
I gawked, feeling a burning desire rising inside of me. This is something I’ve always wished for. I could feel that passion coming to life after setting my eyes on Cadell, howling beautifully to the moon.
It’s part of my dream. I want to howl to the heavens like every other wolf.
Looking at the moon, I gave out a howl, trying to sound like my kind. Even though it wasn’t that close, I still loved it.
I laughed at myself, turning to face Cadell. He was already staring at me, causing me to blush.
“What? It wasn’t that bad,” I shrugged, only to miss my grip by accident.
“WOW!” I shrieked, almost falling off when Cadell’s hand grabbed mine, pulling me up, and straight on his back.
I could feel my body shaking already. But on seeing the mockery in Cadell’s eyes, I shook it off, bragging, “It didn’t scare me one bit. But I don’t want to try it again. I know what you can do.” I dimmed my eyes at him.
He scoffed, before jumping off the pine tree with speed and diving into the woods.
I yelled out loudly, enjoying the moment.
I don’t know when I’m going to experience this again. How I wish the night would never end.
Reaching the ground, I excitedly got off Cadell’s back, requesting for another journey deeper into the forest.
“Maybe we’ll take this path,” I said, pointing at our right and walking towards a tree at that direction.
“I feel like exploring further until…”
“DON’T!” Cadell roared in his deep voice, pulling me back.
I was startled by his action, wondering why he did that. That’s when I saw something red sparkling on the grass.
“There’s a magic barrier around this part. It was set by that old Sorceress at the mansion,” Cadell shared, shifting back into his human form.
“If anyone crosses it, she’ll feel and tell who it is.”
“Even you?” I asked, looking at him.
He nodded, still staring at the red dust. “If I cross it, she’ll know.”
“Oh,” I uttered, having a hunch about something. “I see now. Because of the sorceress’s spell, you can’t leave Wolf Fall to your home. You’re trapped.”
“Trapped?” he chuckled, swaying his head. “I won’t say I’m trapped. I don’t really have a real home. The forest is my place.”
“No home?” I was touched by what he said, wondering how long he has spent his life in the forest with no family or friends. Like how long has he been a rogue? Is he just Wolf Fall’s enemy or is he an enemy to other packs and creatures out there?
This should be another reason why he doesn’t stay at night with me. He’s used to this life.
“I once had a happy home. It was a long time ago,” Cadell said. “It was the best thing I’ve ever had.” he turned over to face me, letting out a smile.
It attracted me, causing me to smile back at him.
That’s when he said, looking back at the red dust, “The day I’ll leave Wolf Fall is the day my goal would be achieved here in this pack. So, I’m not leaving till that day comes.”
“Your goal? What… what are you after, if you don’t mind ?” I asked, getting curious.
He looked at me and smirked, drawing closer. With a poke to my nose, he responded, “You.”
“Huh?!” I was shocked.
“I came here for you, Evolet. And I’m not leaving Wolf Falls without you,” he went on, cupping my face.
This felt unbelievable to me. I wanted Cadell to start laughing or joking about his words, but he didn’t.
“Are you… are you serious?” I asked, shaking before him.
He nodded.
This was beginning to scare me. Why is he here for me? What is go…
“Then I’ll take Pam and every other hotties from Wolf Fall, back to my forest. There we’ll live happily ever after.” He grinned, rubbing my cheek.
“You Perv! And here I thought you were being serious!” I groaned, slapping his hands off my face!
Cadell laughed, running back through the path we came from.
“If I get my hands on you, I’ll make you regret it!” I chased him with my shoe.
Honestly, I thought he meant what he said about me being his goal. I felt… strange and overwhelmed with feelings. I had so many questions to ask him, but it was all a joke.
He’s so crazy.
.
Morning, Cadell and I were heading back to the mansion, feeling a bit sleepy.
We had to spend the night at a shade that was far away from the pack square. I didn’t feel like returning to the mansion, so I chose to stay with Cadell, where it’s safe.
Knowing I had no other choice but to return to Alpha Allen’s home, I said, taking hold of Cadell’s hand, “I don’t want to go on with this hunt. I want to end my stay at the mansion.”
“Really?” Cadell’s eyes sparkled at my words. He looked pleased to hear this from me.
“Yeah, really. I’ve thought about it and it’s clear my Mom was right all along about the hunt. Although her reason was different, she was still right. I don’t want to go on with this drama. I rather be a useless Omega than marry a scumbag like Allen and be his Luna.”
“Then allow me to cease this opportunity and ask for your hand in marriage, my sweet Evolet.” Cadell took hold of my hand, about to kiss it.
I quickly pulled it away, slapping him on the chest.
“It’s a No.”
“Come on. I’m a hot cake in the market. I promise to take you all around the world, if you say yes,” he said, smooching the air.
I chuckled at his craziness and gave my response, “Maybe you’ll get that yes, if you teach this weak Omega how to summon her wolf. How about that, my sweet wolf?”
I caressed Cadell’s cheek, but he didn’t like the offer.
Instead, he lowered his eye lid midway and said, “Why do I smell a foul play here?”
“Foul play? No way, Cadell.”
“No! This looks like the first offer you made! You promised me a kiss and didn’t give it to me!” he pointed, reminding me of the deal we made.
“Hey! I pecked you that day in front of your stinky girlfriends!”
“It was on the cheek, not the lips!” he rubbed his lips with his finger, growling at me.
“Since then, I learnt my lesson. I will no longer help you again,” he said, snapping his finger at me.
This was beginning to stress me out. I sighed out and said, making a promise to Cadell, “Fine, I will give you your kiss when I leave this place.”
“And what if you fail to do so?” he lifted his brow, leaning his head to the right.
I can’t believe I’m doing this. But what other choice do I have? I really need Cadell. He’s the perfect teacher for me.
“If I fail to keep my promise, you are free to take your kiss from me as you wish.”
“And?” he lifted his brow, waiting for me to finish up my promise.
“And I won’t attack you with my shoes. I promise”
“Now that’s much better.” He pinched my cheek, causing it to ache.
I wanted to slap his hand, but I held myself back. “Be good, just be good,” I sighed, leading the way.
Cadell soon shifted into my pet wolf in a hidden corner, before we journeyed to the mansion. As we drew closer, I could feel my heart racing, just recalling last night’s incident with the Beta.
“Be cool, Eve. You’ll cross this, don’t worry,” I calmed myself, getting closer.
When Cadell and I got there, we didn’t see any guards standing at the gate. This got me relieved. Quickly, I suggested that we head to the room before anyone would see us.
But as soon as we stepped into the mansion… “Where are you coming from?” Queen Chriselda’s voice echoed from upstairs, causing me to tremble.
I directed my eyes to the top and met her with the sorceress and the Gamma, staring at me with disgust.
“This is bad,” I muttered, awaiting the Queen’s wrath.
“You weren’t present at the dining room for breakfast. When I sent a maid to call you, you were missing. Do you mind telling me exactly where you’re coming?”
“I… I went…” I stammered, trying to look for the right words to use.
That’s when Sorceress Thelma and Gamma Dave began to speak ill of me.
“I bet she went out to see a man. Just look at how messy she is.” The Gamma pointed.
“Look here Omega, if you know you went out to see your lover, then you better start talking before I fish out the truth,” the sorceress said with pride.
Hearing this, something sparked inside my head, getting me angry. Without thinking, I said, “Yeah, that man is my wolf here. The same wolf you couldn’t fish out with your powers.”
“Excuse me?” The sorceress’s eyes came wide at my words.
“How dare you speak to the sorceress like that?” The Gamma roared, glaring at me.
I faced him as well and said, “You’re the Gamma of this pack. Nothing too big or too small crosses your eyes in this mansion. Then how come you didn’t see my wolf leaving this mansion?”
His mouth dropped, but no words came out.
” He was ill, trembling in pains. No one attended to him but watched him leave the mansion. And you say I went out to see a man?”
Both Gamma and Sorceress went silent, directing their attention to the Queen for her response.
Of course she had something to say to me.
“I’ve said this before, and I’ll repeat it. This is why the goddess didn’t bless you with a wolf. She saw your dirty heart and decided to curse you. Such a damsel can never be my son’s Luna. You are unfit!”
“I know I have gone against your orders, My Queen. But it was important for me to look for my wolf and make sure he’s safe. He has no one but me. If you feel I am unfit for this hunt, then I guess it’s best if you pass your judgement on me now,” I said, going down on my knees to caress Cadell.
I don’t know where all these energy was coming from. I just fell in love with it. With this behavior, the Queen will have no choice but to send me away.
As I waited for the Queen to pass her judgement, two guards ran into the mansion and broke the terrible news of the Beta to the three.
“Beta Dean was attacked!
“What?!” The Queen exclaimed in shocked, along with the sorceress and Gamma.
My whole body shivered on hearing this.
Goodness! The news is finally out.
