EVOLET
“What?” I uttered at what Mom just said.
Is that what she thinks?
“Why that question? Do you think I’m dumb and don’t know the rules of that stupid game you tagged yourself in?” she questioned, glaring straight at me.
“Just accept your failure, Eve. You lost the next round and came crawling to your mother, knowing quite well that I was right all along and you were wrong,” she scoffed, resuming with the arrangement.
But she didn’t stop talking, or lets say attacking me emotionally.
Mom chuckled and began to mimic my every words, when I stood up to her about my decision and desire to help our home. “We have a chance to escape this poverty. I believe I can be the Alpha’s Luna. What happened now?” she laughed, swaying her head.
Her words broke my heart deeply. I didn’t know how to respond to this, but just gaze at her.
She looked at me and finally said with a smile on her face, “Oh, don’t feel sad, Evolet. I’m still your mother. You don’t have to be worried about getting yourself a mate, because I have so many lists of men who are ready to take a weakling like yourself, as their wife.”
“I wasn’t evicted.”
“What?” Mom’s smile faded. She just stared back in confusion, as I repeated once again, so she’d hear me clearly. “I’m still in the hunt, Mom. I’m only here because the Queen said we only have today to see our families and return back to the mansion. I was never evicted.”
“Oh… I see,” she sounded disappointed, like she really wants me to lose and return home as a failure.
“Hmm, so you’re still in the hunt? Rubbish,” she mumbled, thinking I didn’t hear her.
That’s when I snapped out, unable to hold it in any longer. “Why Mom?! What did I ever do to deserve this harsh treatment from you?! Why do you keep on making our relationship so bad?!”
She dimmed her eyes at me, putting a stop to her arrangement.
“Other damsels are getting supports from their family while I’m receiving nothing but hate from you! Last night, you just spoke as if I’ve gotten myself into a big mess, just because you weren’t ready to accept that your daughter has made it to the next round without summoning her wolf!”
“That doesn’t change the fact that you’re a weak Omega!”
“Yet I got into the next round!” I raised my voice, feeling whole body shaking.
Holding my head in frustration, I said, “I’ve tried so long to get you to love me like old times, but you always want to hurt me physically, spiritually… Emotionally! Tell me, what is my crime?! What did I ever do to deserve this treatment from you? And please…” I placed both palms together, so she’d see it well. “Don’t give me that ‘You won’t like what I’ll say’ Logic. I want to hear it! Just tell me why!” I panted, breathing out heavily.
But despite the pains in my voice… “I think you’ve stayed too long, your highness.”
“Mom?”
“The door is over there. You can leave,” she said, walking pass me and straight for the kitchen.
I gasped at her action, not knowing the right word to blurt out. And I didn’t want to regret my action, if I end up saying something I’d never forgive myself for.
Instead, I slammed my hand against the wall and left the house, with tears welling in my eyes.
“How can she be so cruel?! I’m trying to give us a better life and all she wants to do is hurt me?! Why, Mom?!” I vented out, kicking a stone off my path while storming away from home.
“I knew coming home would be a big mistake. I should have just stayed somewhere and returned to the mansion afterwards. But no! I just did what my heart wanted, and now I’m hurt,” I sighed, stopping close to a tree to calm my rage.
The thought of returning to the Alpha’s home with tears in my eyes, wasn’t advisable. I don’t want anyone seeing the pains in my eyes, most especially Fiona. She’d use it to shatter me for sure, and I may lose it on her.
“I guess I’ll just roam around the pack-square for some minutes before heading back,” I decided, resuming with my stroll.
After walking for some minutes and arriving at the square, I noticed how crazy the pack people were perambulating about from one store to another.
Sometimes I forget that the market is located at the pack-square, making it one of the busiest place in Wolf Fall.
“I bet it was way more crazier than this in the past, when Queen Violet allowed all creatures to be united. But now, it’s just us and a few neighbouring wolf pack. That’s our life now.”
Still walking about, avoiding moving vehicles and rowdy passersby, my eyes caught sight of two ladies at a corner of a big tree, with their car parked there.
I don’t know why my eyes went to that point in the first place. Maybe it’s because of the way they were acting like sluts near the tree, or maybe because of the muscular shirtless fellow, working underneath their car.
“Poor guy. They must have seduced him to attend to their vehicle under this hot weather. Just look at how the poor man is struggling under that car,” I sighed, watching this.
Everything would have ended there and I would have just made my way to the Alpha’s mansion without any issue, if and IF, I hadn’t stayed too long, watching a man helping two seductive ladies under this heat.
The moment I was about to walk away, I was stunned by who I saw.
The poor man I was sympathizing with, turned out to be that Perv Cadell!
“What the hell?!” I gasped, staring at him as he pulled himself from underneath the car, flaunting his packs at the ladies.
His hair was no longer white but brown. He was back in his stupid disguise.
“Told you angels that my muscles were enough to fix your car,” he flirted, winking at them.
They both giggled like rats, covering their mouth.
This felt so irritating to watch. “No wonder he didn’t return last night or even this morning! I was thinking something bad had happened, but no! He was busy flirting around like the dog he is! That Fool!” I groaned, tightening my fists.
Because of him, I almost got into trouble this morning before leaving the mansion. Beta Dean, who was at the entrance when we were all leaving for our home, asked me about my wolf.
“Won’t you be taking your pet along with you?” he had asked, causing me to tremble.
I had to lie that my wolf was staying in and promised he won’t cause a mess, just to avoid any more questions. And it’s all thanks to this big head!
“You’re so awesome. The car is working perfectly well,” one of the ladies praised him, drawing closer to that subvert.
Cadell’s face came bright, as he gladly welcomed the lady into his hold, running his hands down from her waist to hip.
That’s when an idea popped into my head.
With a devilish smile, I drew closer to them, listening to Cadell sweet talk the ladies into sharing their contacts with him.
“You goddesses might need me one day. Who knows, maybe tonight,” he coquet, making them drool over his words.
Just when he was about to get their details, I dived in with speed, grabbing Cadell’s arm unexpectedly. “Baby! Where have you been?” I asked, clinging to him closely.
Cadell, who directed his eyes on me, gazed out in shock. “Baby?” he widened in disbelief.
I grinned and ended up pushing the lady he was holding, burying myself in his arms.
“Hey!” the lady yelled at me, but I don’t give a DAMN! I was enjoying myself.
“It’s not fair, darling. You left me all alone after a wonderful night together. I can’t stop thinking about your strong, muscular grip on me,” I flirted, running my fingers on his chest.
This stunned Cadell, who asked me right there, “Did you hit your head in my absence or what?”
“So, she’s your girlfriend?” the ladies asked, staring at us in anger.
I don’t know what came over me, but I stupidly felt like showing my right over Cadell.
All of a sudden, I lifted myself on my toe and planted a kiss on Cadell’s cheek, shocking not just the ladies, but him as well. He stared in amusement, letting out a curve to the side.
I looked at the ladies and asked, “Does that answer your question?”
“Unbelievable!”
“And we were going to give you our numbers! Let’s go!”
In fury, they got into their cars to leave.
‘Yeah, Get lost! He doesn’t need two monkeys like yourselves. He’s mine!” I yelled out loudly, still in Cadell’s hold.
When the ladies had driven far away from us, I puffed out and said, “Glad they are gone. And as for you, you Perv…” I paused, noticing how Cadell stared at me, weirdly.
He was smirking while dimming his eyes like a creep.
I was about to ask him if my action had made him dumb, but when his arms went tight around my waist… “Ah, shit!”
I realized my own plan had just backfired against me.
