Book:Mated to the Devil Alpha Published:2025-2-8

I felt my hands shaking as I held my mother on my back but I didn’t want her to notice. I was afraid, and nervous.
The thought of going back to my pack was scary because I had no idea what to expect or how the pack was going to be like when I get back because of the things that have happened.
I kept on running though because I knew that if I stopped my mother was going to find out that I wasn’t breathing hard or shaking because of the fact that I was running but because of the fact that I was afraid.
I didn’t want her to know that I was afraid because if she finds out she was definitely going to get scared also which I didn’t want.
I can’t afford to deal with her panic mode now not when I was in a mood like this.
We finally got to Kia’s pack and I let her down from my body, trying to act as if I was shaking from the journey
“Are you okay? Rex, your hands are… ” She started to ask.
“I’m fine. Try running down a hill with someone twice your size and see if you can handle it. I might be an alpha but I get weak sometimes. It’s nothing, ” I answered dismissively.
” Okay. If you say so,” She said, shrugging.
We got inside the hall where I was before Alaric told me where to find my mother and I notice someone standing in the center of the hall, looking around so confused as if the person had no idea where they were.
I moved closer a bit, wondering if the person was Rain as I could see long black hair but I was wrong. It wasn’t Rain. It looked like the same woman who Brook had slit her throat off but that wasn’t possible.
“Hello, what are you doing here? Who are you?” I asked cautiously, as I took another step towards her.
She turned to face me with a look of relief on her face and that was when I realized how young she looked and how strange.
It felt weird around her.
“Thank goodness! I was so worried. I thought everyone around here was dead! I’m so glad to see you. ”
I nodded my head softly still eyeing her cautiously, there was no way I was going to let that innocent and sweet looking face of hers fool me when I had no idea who she was.
“Yeah, that’s good. Who are you? What are you doing here?” I asked again, making it clear that I was insistent on her introducing herself.
“Oh.. sorry, excuse my back manners. My name’s Hannah. I’m sorry for looking so disoriented like this. It’s just funny, I guess. The truth is that I thought I was dead. I mean I could swear that I died and I was unconscious for sometime but I look so healthy that no one is going to believe me if I said I died.”
I nodded my head quietly as I slowly observed her. She didn’t look like she was lying besides she looked a bit familiar like I thought she was.
I was just about to ask her if she could remember what happened before she died when my mother walked in front of me and pulled the girl into a hug.
I was confused at first because we haven’t confirmed is the girl was safe enough to be close to but we’ve she leaned closer to hug her back, I decided to leave them be.
“Don’t worry. You’re alive now. It’s going to be okay. Nothing will happen to you as long as you are with us,” my mother said, still hugging her.
” Thank you so much, “The girl said, pulling out of the hug.
As she pulled out of the hug, a familiar scent waffled around my nose, the scent of Rain.
The girl had Rain’s scent on her body which was strange. It could only mean one thing though… Rain was somewhere around here.
” Where is Rain? Is she somewhere inside? ” I asked her, looking around.
” Rain? No .. she’s not. I’ve been looking for her. I’m surrounded by dead bodies, there’s no one that’s alive in here.”
Only dead people? Then where was the scent of Rain coming from? Why could I smell it so strong on her?
“I can’t even find my mate.. ”
“Your mate?” I asked her confused, ” who’s your mate?”
“My boyfriend… Alaric. I can’t find him and I’m scared. I really hope he’s not among the dead bodies that’s around me here,” She said, her eyes tearing up a bit as she looked around.
Alaric was her boyfriend?! Them that means she is the dead mate he wanted to go and bury. I wonder if he has any idea if she was alive or if he is actually burying someone else right now.
Hold on! She was slit in the throat by Brook, so how is she still alive? I wanted to ask her but from the was she looked, it was obvious that she also had no idea how she was still alive.
It crossed my mind just then that Rain has not herself and gave her the blood to suck. I was in my Lycan form so I couldn’t ask anything back then but it had seemed strange.
Something definitely happened and I was so curious to find out what exactly it was.
The only way we can find out what exactly happened was if she goes to the pack with us and I show her to Rain. Maybe we’ll have some explanation then.
“You’re coming with us,” I ordered as I turned to leave the room.
She followed suit, holding hands with my mother as they got to the car and I drove off with so many questions in my head.
By the time we got to the pack, it was already nightfall and the pack was well lit and ready.
Hawk was standing at the entrance of the pack, pacing about slowly until he saw the car approaching.
I got out of the car and walked to meet him noticing the look on his face.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s Rain. She’s gone crazy. She keeps on threatening that she was going to kill herself if we don’t let her leave the pack. I’ve tried to hold her enough but I can’t. She’s too strong.”
His statement worried me so I hurried inside the pack and started to look for her.
Immediately I saw her, I walked fast to meet her only to be greeted with a slap on my face again.
She was really in a bad mood and she had been crying, at least from the look on her face.
“How dare you? How dare you leave me alone? How could you? Do you have any idea how long I waited for you? Do you have any idea how scared I was? How I couldn’t cope because everyone here hates me?” She asked, glaring at me.
” It’s okay.. I’m so.. ”
“Why are your eyes red?” She asked suddenly.
” It’s the curse. I have..”
I didn’t even finish my sentence when she sighed and pulled me into a hug, holding me there for sometime.
She pulled out of the hug and looked behind me with a smile on her face before going to hug my mother.
“Hello mother,” She said softly as she hugged her.
My mom smiled at her and squeezed her hands that was when I remembered what I wanted to ask her.
“Is Alaric here with you? Did he follow you guys back here?” I asked, trying to lead the conversation to where I want it to be.
“Yes, he came with me but he’s locked with the wounded. He’s locked with them so that he would be able to treat them.”
I sighed as I realized there was no bringing up the topic to her.
“Raven brought news that I’m supposed to help” she said, looking behind me.
” Oh, you tomorrow have to worry about that. Just go and have some rest. Sleep, you looked exhausted.”
” Okay. Thank you, ” She said and I watched as she walked away.
As soon as she left the tears that I had been holding in just poured out as I sat down.
“What’s wrong?” My mom asked.
“I’m really worried about her. I know Rain will be alright but I can’t have her looking all behind her back all the time in fear. I can’t even let the kids also. I’m okay with it being me but the kids! I can’t bear it happening to them.”
She sighed and hugged me, patting my head lightly.
“I’m scared about the curse. What if it gets out of hand again and I kill the people I love the same way I killed my father?”
” Killing your father was a mistake. Everyone believes that he died in the battle and it’s best that way. You were cursed from birth bit that didn’t make me kill you.”
I sighed and continued crying but she patted my back.
“Come, let’s go to your room, I’ll watch you sleep,” She said and we both left the house.
Thanks mom.
