The sound of someone knocking on doors made me wake up immediately and assess my surroundings. It took me about a minute or so before I could realize that I was inside my room and that someone was at the door.
Shit! How do I still get distracted these days?
My mate, my pack, my mom, how do I get to make them understand me. Was I really tge one not understanding them?
Knock! Knock!!
I got up from the bed and grudgingly walked to meet the person, opening the door wide to see that it was Hawk.
He looked calm, like his day would forever better.
He smelt so much like his mate.
“Good morning, Rex,” He greeted, looking as though he had been knocking for quite sometime and was frowning at me.
I looked away. I wasn’t going to apologies and make him feel more better. He is my best friend, he will understand.
“Hawk. What’s the news? What brings you here?” I asked, deciding to ignore the fact that he was pissed.
“There is a visitor waiting for you,” He said with all seriousness that the little sleep left in my eyes all wiped off and I stood straight.
That look on his face. That’s seem suspicious and intriguing.
A visitor? Who was it? He should have asked for the name or something.
I was so worried because I couldn’t help but think about the fact that Kia had told me that people were going to come for Rain and I. He had sent messages.
How come I didn’t remember to do something about it on time?! I should have gone after them! Oh shit!!!!
‘Please not again?’ I thought.
I couldn’t bear the thought that someone was here to attack my family. I didn’t even want to imagine it. I didn’t want to imagine them been special and different. Powerful or not, not all of them would be able to protect themselves at all time.
“Who is it?” I asked with an edge to my voice.
No matter how hard I tried to hide it, I couldn’t hide the fact that I was panicking.
“I don’t know. I was just told that a visitor had come to see you, maybe if you get there you’ll know who it is?” Hawk said , watching me closely.
I narrowed my gaze as I’d I want to see pass his hidden story but I didn’t get anything. He just had his professional look, the one he had been keeping since I almost killed his made.
It’s been weeks! I was in my beast form, fustrated, Haven’t seen my mate and he was acting out!
That shouldn’t be an excuse.
I forced a smile on my face and nodded my head as I didn’t want him to know that I was actually nervous.
“Okay. You can go, I’m on my way, ” I said, watching as he left.
I turned and walked into the room with fear obviously written on my face and panic because my mother sighed and walked close to me.
I was surprised though… I didn’t realize that I had slept off with her singing to me and she had to sleep over in my room. Was that why I could sleep so peaceful?

“What is the problem, Rex?” She asked as she walked close to me.
I Didn’t want to tell her. I didn’t want to tell her that I was scared for her and my family but I needed to be strong for us. For the pack. For all of us!
“I’m worried about the visitor. What if the visitor is after my family? What am I going to do about it?”
Shit! My lips betrayed myself.
My mom smiled, she had this assuring look on her face, the same she had when she asked me to go to Kia and he would give me my family.
I felt like she had done something to negotiate with herself but I didn’t want to tell her.
” It’s alright. Don’t be worried. Nothing will happen. Maybe you’re just thinking about it because of Kia, isn’t it?” She said in a very assuring voice.
I nodded my head in response. I trust she would help me too. I trust my mother.
” Kia is dead and the words he said, he only said then because he wanted to make you scared as you are right now. You know what? I’ll go with you, how about that?”
I looked at her surprised at the offer but didn’t say anything and just nodded my head as I grabbed a shirt and we both walked out of the room.
My body was twice her size, I was sure that I was stronger than her, faster, but I still felt safe with her. I felt like she has this invisible shield, protecting my peace.
As we were drawing close to the office where the said visitor was waiting for me, I decided to ask her about her offer.
“Why did you decide to come with me? I thought you hated all these sort of things and you also hate being seen, why?” I asked.
“I know right? I used to hide a lot before, no one knows about me or even the fact that I exist but not anymore. I don’t want to hide anymore. I want to protect my family and if coming out of my shell will help me do that, then I’ll willingly do it. I will do anything to make sure that my family is safe, ” She said, looking so serious.
Awwwww.
I wanted to cry.
I wanted to hug her, to tell her that I love her and ask her why she didn’t come out all these while but I didn’t.
It touched me to hear her say that she was willing to do anything to save her family and I smiled at her.
“Your eyes.. ”
“What happened to it?” I asked, stopping suddenly, ” is it still like the way it was yesterday?”
” Yes.. here, take this. Use it to cover your eyes, thank goodness I thought ahead to bring it,” She said, passing me a pair of glasses.
“Thank you so much,” I said grabbing the glasses.
“You’re not welcome. I actually was doing others a favor. I don’t think anyone would want to see those eyes of yours,” She teased.
Indeed.
Blood red eyes, no one would look at it. It looked like I was possessed, or having a virus, or a demon.
“Well, at least now they can look at it,” I said, smiling and we both laughed until we got closer to the office.
I stood at the door for a while and took a deep breath before pushing the door open to see the visitor.
It was Bruce, the Alpha king!
Shit! Did the news reach him?
We walked in cautiously and he turned to face us, looking at me with curious eyes that I knew he obviously wanted to ask why I was wearing glasses in the office.
I didn’t know if I should feel threatened by the fact that he was here, especially as he kept on looking around as if he was looking for something, something to say or whatever.
He would sniff, sniff like he was trying to get a particular scent.
“Alpha, ” I greeted him cautiously.
He turned to face me again and nodded his head slightly before turning to look at my mother with curious eyes.
“Good day Alpha,” She greeted after sometime.
She didn’t take her eyes away from him despite the fact that he was staring right at her in an intimidating way.
I hope he doesn’t want to hurt her. I won’t mind to kill tge Alpha king if I have to.
“What are you here for, if you don’t mind going down to the business,” My mom said and I had to hide the proud smile on my face.
She didn’t let him intimidate her.
My super mom! Damn I will have lots of years and stories to boast about her with.
“Before you say anything I just want you to know that I will do anything to save my family. I just hope you didn’t come here with any intent on harming them,” I said immediately.
I was scared.
I was shaking and hope he would not but I didn’t let him see it.
“I got some information about your so called family so that’s why I’m here. But before I go straight into what I want or what I came here for, can you please excuse us?” He said, turning to face my mother.
She looked at me and I nodded my head at her before she finally left the office.
“Like I said, I got some information about your family from the second informers but I stopped them because I wanted to see for myself if it was actually true, all the things they were saying.”
I stiffened in fear at the thought that the news about Rain and about my kids and also about my Lycan curse has been spreading all around and I got worried.
What if he isn’t the only one that decided to come here? What if there were other coming behind him who have also heard about the news from the informers.
What if he knows the take. He would, he is an alpha King. He should not want my family! I would gladly give out my pack to save them!!!
“You don’t need to be worried about others coming or finding out about this though,” he said as if he could read my thoughts, “I stopped them and made them promise never to tell anyone about it. I actually didn’t come here for that though.. I came here to discuss something else.”
Pffffff! That was such a relief.
I relaxed in the chair and forced myself not to smile.
” What is it?” I asked apprehensive.
” Well, you know I have no kids. I have been hearing of all the things that have been going on and since I have no children to take over my place when I die, I came to ask you for a favor,” He said, still looking around as though he was in search of something.
I found it hard to trust him.
What the heck does he want? Him looking for something!?
“I heard you’re immortal. Since you’re immortal, why don’t you take over my place as the alpha king? Apply for the contest and be the alpha king after I die.”
Shit!
” I’m sorry, I’m not interested. I don’t want to be the Alpha king, ” I answered him immediately but deep down as I thought about it, I realized that if I become the Alpha king, I would be able to protect my family from any danger as I would be more powerful than I am now.
“I saw Klaus on my way here, while I discussed it with him he said that you would make a good alpha king,” he said, pretending not to hear what I said.
I didn’t know what to say.
I was confused.
If I accept, I would look so desperate. He might feel like I want his position for a long time.
What if he was testing me? To know if I would want him dead!
Just then the door opened and my mom walked in slowly, with a tray of coffee in hands and I watched as the Alpha king watched her.
The heck he had his eyes on her all the time! I don’t like it!!
I didn’t like the way he was staring at her because I felt as though he was mad at her for her behavior or something.
“That alpha king offer that you just made him, he would think about it,” She said as she dropped the tray on the table and stared straight at Bruce.
I was about to say something in her defense and to apologise for her statement when he suddenly knelt in front of her and smiled happily.
“Mate” he said.
I looked at the two of them with surprise, unable to understand what was going on.
My mom was the alpha king mate?
I felt relieved though, glad that someone was going to love and take care of her not treating her like a toy. Sh was would finally have that respect, someone to protect her, to show her the world, and be there till death do them apart.
“Does he still have a say in being the alpha king? He’s going to be my step son, isn’t he? Doesn’t that mean that he’s automatically the next Alpha king?”
What just happened?
” He definitely doesn’t have a choice. He’ll do it, ” my mom answered and I smiled at them.
He stood up and kissed her and carried her out of the room and I felt cringe wondering if that was how I was with Rain.
Rain.
I suddenly thought of how much I missed her and didn’t want to bother there with the mate call , just then someone knocked on the door.
She pushed the door open and walked in with a smile on her face.
“Hey mate” I said in pure excitement. My tail was vigorously wagging for sure.
