Rosalind looked into his eyes, the curve of her lips betraying her guilt.
“I trust you.”
“Glad you trust me.”
“Mhmm.”
Rosalind averted her gaze, her vision becoming increasingly blurry as she stared at the computer screen.
When she couldn’t hold back the tears any longer, she hurriedly got up and turned her back to Ulric. “Um, I forgot that I haven’t washed my face since I woke up. I’ll go wash it first!”
Just as Rosalind entered the bathroom, someone arrived outside.
Rebecca was concerned about Ulric’s wound, but even more so about him running around again, so she would occasionally come by to check on him.
Pushing the door open, she found Ulric lying alone on the bed and paused for a moment. “Where’s Miss Ruell?”
“She’s in the bathroom.”
“Oh.” Rebecca walked in and put on medical gloves before lowering her head to examine his wound.
She always treated her patients with great care, whether they were from the Walters family or others. Rebecca maintained her compassionate nature as a doctor.
Due to living abroad for a long time and having an older brother who inherited the family estate, Rebecca had learned to adapt to any situation. She had never longed for love before and thought being single for life was fine. But after seeing Ulric and Rosalind together, her view on matters of love began to change.
She thought… if there was a guy like Ulric who liked her, she would probably say yes.
Rosalind finished washing her face and walked out to see this scene.
Ulric was lying there, while Rebecca was diligently tending to his wounds while occasionally giving him advice.
Suddenly, she wondered if Ulric’s true love was Rebecca instead. Would the Walters family readily accept Rebecca and let Ulric marry her? Maybe Audrey wouldn’t be so biased towards Sirena anymore.
“Miss Ruell.” While she was lost in thought, Rebecca called out to her.
“Yes?” Rosalind quickly snapped back to reality. “What’s wrong?”
Rebecca pointed to her pocket. “Your phone is ringing. Didn’t you hear it?”
Rosalind awkwardly smiled and took out her phone.
It was Kennard calling.
She immediately hung up without any hesitation, because she had nothing to say to him.
However, Kennard kept calling again and again after being hung up on.
Rosalind furrowed her brows tightly and finally answered the call out of frustration.
“What do you want?”
“What’s with your tone? I’m your father!” Kennard started with his accusatory tone right away.
Rosalind didn’t have time to waste on him. “I don’t have time for you. I’m going to hang up.”
“Wait!” Kennard got anxious. “Have you seen your sister recently? I can’t reach her, and her mother is worried sick.”
So he was looking for Sirena.
“I have.”
“Where is she?”
“Your beloved daughter kidnapped my friend and my child.”
Kennard was taken aback, his voice filled with disbelief. “Don’t joke with me!”
“I’m not joking with you,” Rosalind coldly sneered. “I only regret not having the ability to tear her apart into pieces. And yet you come looking for her here?!”
Sirena hurt Ulric, nearly killing him. If it weren’t for Audrey’s people taking Sirena away and unable to be found, Rosalind would definitely return the favor with a knife, even if it meant going to prison herself!
“How did you become so heartless, wanting to kill your own sister? Is this how Eva raised you?” Kennard’s tone dripped with disdain.
