“Shut up! You have no right to mention my mother!”
“Don’t you dare talk that way to me!” Kennard lost his patience. “If it weren’t for me not being able to find Sirena, do you think I would call you? Every time you talk to me, you either complain about me or blame your sister. She’s always been on your side, trying to mend our father-daughter relationship, yet you always treat her as an enemy!”
Rosalind took a deep breath to prevent herself from being infuriated by him.
“She’s always on my side? Well, did our relationship improve because of that?”
Rosalind could easily predict Sirena’s tactics!
She excelled at praising others while subtly belittling them.
“Our relationship is so strained right now because of your bad temper! What does that have to do with your sister? You’ve really been spoiled by your mother!”
“Why don’t you take care of me then? Why didn’t you come and take me away when I was young? Why didn’t you provide for my clothing, food, and shelter?”
“How could I not take care of you? It was your mother who asked me to stay away from you!”
Rosalind laughed. “Sirena is truly your daughter. Both of you have a knack for twisting words! If you’re looking for Sirena, you’ve come to the wrong person. And you’d better pray that I don’t find her!”
“What do you mean?”
“I will personally send your daughter to jail. I definitely will!”
After saying this, she hung up and blocked Kennard’s number.
People like him shouldn’t exist in her world. They made her feel sick!
Rosalind may have spoken harshly, but when she put her phone back in her pocket, she couldn’t help but self-mockingly curl her lips.
Both were his daughters, yet he treated them so differently! Even though Sirena was illegitimate, so what? As long as Kennard liked Sirena, Sirena could take away all the fatherly love from her.
But fortunately, Rosalind didn’t need it anymore.
If this had happened before, after shouting at Kennard, she would have cried. She couldn’t explain why she cried. After all, she had long been disappointed in her father! But now, she didn’t feel like crying.
She just hated herself for not being able to kill Sirena with her own hands.
When Rosalind returned to the hospital room, Rebecca was still busy with medication while talking to Ulric.
Or more accurately, she was talking to herself while Ulric’s eyes remained fixed on the door, waiting for Rosalind to return. He only occasionally responded with a “hmm” or “yeah”.
“Uncle Caesar went hiking with my dad before. But when my dad came home, my mom said he reeked of alcohol. It’s obvious he wasn’t out hiking.”
“Whenever those two meet, they always end up drinking… Oh? Miss Ruell, you’re back.” Rebecca looked up and naturally waved at Rosalind.
“Yeah.” Rosalind nodded and suddenly didn’t know what expression to use when facing Rebecca. She could only awkwardly curl her lips. “Dr. Stewart, how is he doing?”
“He’s fine. Nothing serious! But you really need to keep a close eye on him. I don’t understand why Mr. Walters is so restless. If he’s out of my sight for a while, his wounds are bound to bleed!”
Of course, Rosalind knew why that was, but she merely coughed twice, saying, “I’ll take good care of him.”
“Okay then, I’ll go back to my office first. Don’t forget to come later for the ointment.” Rebecca patted Rosalind’s shoulder with a warm smile on her face and walked away.
Once she closed the door, Ulric spoke in a deep voice, “What were you thinking when you were standing still at the door just now?”
“Oh, nothing! Have you finished handling your company matters? I can continue helping you with the contract.”
“Are you jealous of Rebecca?” Ulric raised an eyebrow. “Then I’ll find a male doctor instead.”
