After a long silence, Tilda sighed and hung her head. “Alas, Ulric is a good man. How did he end up with parents like that? You two love each other so much, yet you can’t be together…”
“That’s normal the Walters family looks down on me,” Rosalind stated.
She was well aware of why Ulric’s parents despised her-it was simply because she didn’t measure up to the prestigious status of the Walters family.
And that was the truth.
But they shouldn’t harm her mother, treating the lives of ordinary people as insignificant!
Rosalind had no desire to climb the social ladder, but she would never allow the Walters family to manipulate her either.
“So they can accept Sirena, the illegitimate daughter? If her identity were exposed, she would be the one who embarrassed the Walters family! You work diligently and earn money honestly without stealing or robbing from anyone, yet you can’t compare to the daughter of a mistress, Sirena?” Tilda couldn’t understand why the Walters family valued their social standing so much when Sirena herself didn’t come from a noble background!
Kennard may have some money, but compared to the Walters family, it was just a drop in the bucket.
“Because Ulric’s mother has always treated Sirena as her daughter-in-law. Her background and identity were arranged long ago, so naturally, from an outsider’s perspective, she seems to be a perfect match for the Walters family,” Rosalind explained.
“You should have exposed Sirena’s true identity back then. Let everyone know she is the daughter of a mistress! The Walters family wouldn’t be able to cover it up then.” If Tilda had been in charge of this matter, it would have been public knowledge by now.
She wouldn’t let anyone trample over her.
“Tilda, you still don’t understand this society,” Rosalind smiled. “Money and power can change everything. In the end, that illegitimate daughter’s identity might even fall on me.”
“There is no justice anymore!”
“Yes,” Rosalind sighed.
She knew how difficult it would be to accuse Ulric’s mother of premeditated murder and go against the Walters family. The road ahead was filled with obstacles and uncertainties.
The only thing Rosalind knew for sure was that she would risk everything to uncover the truth. The person who harmed her mother must not escape punishment.
…
Rosalind and Tilda took a stroll outside. It was only when Johnny came down looking for them that Tilda finally escorted Rosalind upstairs.
“Ulric asked me to take care of her. Don’t worry,” Johnny reassured Rosalind.
Tilda frowned upon hearing this. “I don’t need you to take care of me. I can find a hotel myself.”
“Are you familiar with this place? Be careful not to get kidnapped!”
Seeing them bicker as soon as they met, Rosalind could only intervene helplessly.
“Alright, Tilda. Since you’re not familiar with this place, just follow Johnny. If Ulric trusts him, I’m sure he won’t do anything to you.”
“I’m not afraid of what he’ll do to me! I just dislike him!” Tilda kept her distance from Johnny. She remembered very well how he used to bully her best friend. A few insults wouldn’t make up for that.
“Rosalind is going back to Ulric’s room now. If you don’t come with me, then I’ll leave on my own.” Johnny wasn’t one to tolerate being treated poorly. He turned to leave as he spoke.
Only then did Tilda realize that she was causing trouble for Rosalind and making her worry. She quickly changed her tune. “Fine, I’ll go with you!”
Watching them argue, Rosalind couldn’t help but smile.
As she watched them leave the hospital, Rosalind finally felt relieved. She wheeled herself around and headed towards Ulric’s room.
At the entrance, she happened to see Rebecca in a white coat.
“Miss Ruell, I’ve been looking for you. Mr. Walters asked me to check your leg injury!”
