“He promised me that he would go on blind dates.”
When Rosalind mentioned this, Tilda rolled her eyes, saying, “Yes, he promised and he went. After arriving, he told the woman that he was already in love with someone else and wouldn’t love her even after they were married.”
“With him saying things like that, what woman will ever want to marry him?”
Rosalind lowered her gaze, feeling very uneasy.
“I don’t deserve him.”
“He thinks you do, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it!” Tilda patted her friend’s shoulder. “Rosalind, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Malcolm is an adult, and whatever choices he makes are his own decisions. Nobody is forcing him! You shouldn’t burden yourself with anything, and I don’t think this matter has anything to do with you either.”
She had always been clear about her likes and dislikes. Just because Malcolm was her cousin didn’t mean she would blame Rosalind for not accepting her cousin’s love.
“Do you think it would be better if I stayed away from him?”
“No! He was abroad before and didn’t have a girlfriend either.”
Rosalind looked up. “That’s because he was taking care of the children for me, but now he doesn’t need to take care of them, so any trace of me will gradually fade out of his world.”
“Even in that case, he might not even agree to go abroad! He was willing to leave the country before because he wanted to take care of the children for you,” Tilda said, sensing something was wrong. “Wait! You said he doesn’t need to take care of the children anymore? Does the Walters family already know…”
“Yes.” Rosalind nodded lightly. “They want the children.”
“What?! Have they lost their minds?” Tilda exploded when she heard this. “Those two kids are the ones you brought into this world at the risk of your own life. What did the Walters family contribute? They’re dreaming if they think they can just pick up a child for free!”
“I agreed.”
Tilda was stunned. “Huh?”
Rosalind sighed heavily, her long eyelashes covering the emotions in her eyes.
“Ulric’s father told me that the two children would receive better care in the Walters family, ensuring their future development. If they stayed with me, they would only be ordinary people. I think he’s right.”
She agreed to Caesar’s request partly because she wanted to see Ulric, and partly because Rosalind found Caesar’s words to be quite reasonable.
She had endured too much hardship in life.
Since childhood, she had been busy hustling for money. While other children enjoyed good food and warm clothes, she only needed enough to fill her stomach. Other children could choose prestigious universities or study abroad, while she could only settle for a second-tier school because of a bit of scholarship.
Rosalind knew that although her two kids would not have to endure the hardships she had faced in the past, the life they had with her paled in comparison to what the Walters family could offer them.
She couldn’t be so selfish.
“Have you told Ulric? He would never agree!”
Rosalind immediately grabbed Tilda’s clothes and spoke seriously, “You must not tell Ulric about this!”
“Why?”
“B7 said he could recover the surveillance hard drive in a month. I’ve made up my mind that as soon as I get hold of the video evidence, I’ll immediately expose it to the media both domestically and internationally. I’ll use public opinion to pressure W Group while also filing a criminal lawsuit against his parents. The Walters family has significant power and deep connections, so I have to make a big fuss in order to obtain a just verdict! But…”
Tilda pursed her lips, showing a troubled expression. “If you do this, you won’t be able to be with Ulric anymore! Are you sure you wanna do that?”
After all, no daughter-in-law would want to see her future mother-in-law sentenced to death, right?
Rosalind tugged at the corner of her lips but remained silent. She couldn’t say anything.
