“Yes, yes, I definitely won’t let her do this again!” Malcolm nodded vigorously. “When will she wake up?”
“Hard to say. Her constitution has never been strong, and with her injuries and this high fever, you need to stay close to her and keep a close eye on her condition,” the doctor instructed before leaving.
Malcolm returned to the ward and looked at Rosalind, her face devoid of color. He felt both angry and heartbroken. But then he thought about himself… Wasn’t he the same?
People around him had advised him countless times to stop waiting, to stop wasting time. Even Rosalind herself had urged him to find a girlfriend!
But once he gave his heart away, he couldn’t just take it back.
As evening approached, Tilda finally managed to leave the hospital. She had asked her parents to take care of the children.
“Rosalind still hasn’t woken up?” she asked as she approached the bedside, sighing. “Alas, why did Rosalind have to go through such an ordeal?”
“The doctor said she’s not in danger, just unconscious. Let her sleep! When she wakes up, she’ll definitely want to go find Ulric,” Malcolm replied.
He carefully wiped Rosalind’s hand with a towel, avoiding the wounds with great care and attention.
Tilda let out a long sigh. “They’re completely impossible now. So what are you going to do?”
“I’m not pushing it. I just hope she can find happiness.” Malcolm lifted his eyes and smiled at her. “When I saw Rosalind covered in bruises, desperately searching for Ulric, I really wanted them to be happy together. In this lifetime, how many chances do we have to love someone with all our heart?”
“But their social standings are too different! After everything that happened, I realized that while we only see how much Rosalind has sacrificed for this relationship, we don’t consider that Ulric has made many sacrifices for her as well-perhaps even as much as Rosalind.”
“Umm… Let’s not talk about them! Let’s leave it up to fate.” Malcolm didn’t want to dwell on it. He placed Rosalind’s hand back in its place and raised an eyebrow at Tilda. “And what about you? How are you doing?”
Tilda also had some injuries on her face, but nothing serious. A little antiseptic and a piece of gauze would do.
“I’m fine! Sirena wasn’t really after me anyway! It’s just that Dad and Mom were overreacting and insisted that I stay home with them.” Tilda pulled up a chair and sat down, crossing her legs. “The only thing I regret now is that I didn’t curse Sirena enough! I’m usually sharp-tongued, so why did I lose my words when it mattered?”
Malcolm chuckled at her teasing. “If it weren’t for that sharp tongue of yours, you wouldn’t have those injuries on your face!”
Tilda rolled her eyes. “I should have cursed Sirena more… She… Malcolm! Rosalind was moving!”
Tilda didn’t finish her sentence before she saw the person lying on the bed move!
Malcolm quickly approached. “Rosalind?”
Rosalind slowly opened her eyes and saw both of them staring at her.
She instinctively tried to sit up but fell back onto the bed heavily.
“Ugh…” The pain distorted her features.
“Don’t move!” Malcolm quickly held her down. “Your leg is seriously injured. Do you really want to become crippled?”
Tilda also anxiously added, “Yes! Rosalind, please don’t move!”
But it seemed like Rosalind couldn’t hear anything else. She spoke up, “Take me… to find Cedric…”
Even if she were about to be crippled, she still wanted to be by Ulric’s side!
