“You can try! I won’t bother Mr. Lion anymore, goodbye.”
After Cedric hung up the phone, he was so angry that he smashed his phone on the spot!
The phone shattered into pieces on the floor.
He stood up and immediately called his secretary, “Go and issue an order to fire Rosalind from Eastsun Corporation!”
“Huh?” The secretary was stunned.
They had just made an effort to retain Miss Ruell’s contract, and now they were going to fire her?
“Do it immediately!”
“But… retrieving the retained contract will take three working days.”
Lion clenched his fist tightly, “Then fire her in violation of the rules. I’ll pay the compensation myself!”
The secretary nodded and hurried away.
But soon after, he stumbled back, looking distressed, “Mr. Lion, the HR department said… you are no longer the largest shareholder of Eastsun Corporation. The decision to fire Miss Ruell has been overruled by the current largest shareholder…”
“Ulric!” Lion slammed his fist on the desk, “Fine, very well!”
The secretary had never seen Lion like this. He was usually cheerful and rarely even put on a stern face, so naturally, he was a bit scared.
“So, what should we do now?”
“Immediately contact the other shareholders of Eastsun Corporation and tell them that no matter how much anyone offers to buy their shares, I will pay double! Have them wait for me.”
“Understood, I’ll contact them right away.”
After the secretary left, Lion logged into the computer system and withdrew all the funds he could currently access.
Indeed, Ulric was wealthy, and his assets were certainly more substantial. But when it came to liquid funds, that was another story!
Lion hadn’t been focused on investments over the years; he just relied on Eastsun Corporation’s profits while keeping most of his wealth in savings-ready cash that could be mobilized immediately.
Now it was a race to see who could acquire more than 50% of the shares first; whoever did would control Eastsun Corporation.
…
In Easthaven Bay, it was already completely dark outside, so Ulric turned on all the lights.
With a child at home now, he couldn’t just consider his own preference for quiet; he needed to keep things bright for the kid.
After two consecutive video conferences, Ulric postponed the next meeting and went to knock on the bedroom door. “Jake, what do you want to eat? It’s time for dinner.”
Jake’s voice quickly came from inside the room, “I’m not hungry!”
“If you’re not hungry, then eat a little. I have an international video conference later and might not be able to look after you.”
After saying this, he heard the sound of slippers dragging across the floor inside the room.
Soon after, the door opened slightly, revealing Jake’s small head. “Then I want KFC.”
“Not nutritious. What meal do you want? I’ll cook for you.”
“You can cook?!” Jake looked skeptical.
“Of course.”
“Then I want sweet and sour ribs and mandarin fish!” Jake didn’t really care if he liked those dishes or not; he just wanted to make things difficult for Ulric.
Unexpectedly, Ulric just glanced at his watch and agreed. “Alright, I’ll go buy groceries now. Wait for me.”
“You’re really going to cook?”
Ulric nodded without any hint of joking.
As he turned to leave, he suddenly paused and looked back at Jake with a slight smile.
“By the way, next time you hack into W Group’s server, don’t waste time erasing your tracks. Others won’t notice them anyway. As for me, even if you erase them, I can restore them with one click.”
