Chapter 793: Deceiving Her

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-2-7

It felt like just yesterday they were an inseparable couple, but today they had become strangers.
Callie noticed that the back seat of the car was piled with many work documents, more than usual, with some scattered on the floor.
She hesitated for a moment, then bent down to pick them up and carefully organized them. “You’ve been very busy lately. I’m sorry, it’s because of me.”
The man’s large hands, clasped in front of him, paused slightly. His cold eyes lifted slightly. “Don’t overestimate yourself. It has nothing to do with you.”
Callie endured silently. “The Oconnor Group assets you handed over to me, I’ll transfer them back to you another day.”
“I never take back what I’ve given away.” The light from outside the window fell on Nelson’s face, without a trace of warmth.
Callie was stunned.
The car soon arrived back at Paucaster Villa. After a few days of absence, it seemed much less lively. Although it was summer, it felt very cold.
“Where’s Nancy?” Callie glanced around but didn’t see any servants.
“After you left, I dismissed them all.”
Nelson took off his suit jacket and casually threw it on the sofa before sitting down himself. His long legs stretched out leisurely, and he looked utterly exhausted.
Callie frowned, worried about the unguarded emotions he was showing.
“Come here.” He looked at her and suddenly spoke.
Callie didn’t move. She hesitated for a moment but then walked over under his warning gaze. She knelt on the ground, her hands resting on his knees, indicating a submissive posture.
“Have you been drinking?”
Nelson didn’t answer. He reached out and pinched her chin. The softness from before was gone.
She had lost weight and looked even better now. Even in a low posture, she still looked beautiful, different from those seductive women outside.
She had a unique resilience.
Nelson almost couldn’t let go. He reached out and brushed aside the strands of hair on her forehead, his deep voice uttering, “Why so thin?”
“Busy, always tired.” Her voice was suppressed as she forced a smile. “But it’s good for losing weight.”
Nelson raised an eyebrow, looking into her eyes with amusement.
Kneeling in this position for too long was tiring. Callie slowly asked, “Where’s the divorce agreement?”
In an instant, the affection in Nelson’s eyes shattered. He tightened his grip. “Do you really want a divorce that badly?”
With her neck being squeezed, Callie was forced to look up, crying out in pain. “You said…”
“I lied to you. There is no divorce agreement.” Nelson’s expression broke, pain and longing intertwined.
At that moment, the lights in the hall flickered a few times and suddenly went out, plunging them into darkness.
Nelson instinctively wrapped his arm around her neck, pressing his entire body against hers. His cold lips kissed her without warning.
Callie froze, hearing him ask between kisses, “Were you humiliated by Davian today?”
She tried to break free but was held tighter. “He’s your friend. It’s normal for him to stand up for you. I’m not angry.”
He tightened his grip even more and deepened the kiss.
Their lips and teeth intertwined as he touched her delicate skin as he wished. “Callie.”
In his tone, there was unmistakable helpless hatred.
All that remained in their sight was the bright moonlight, falling on the sofa like frosting.
Someone stumbled, and someone else followed suit, pressing down. The woman’s whole body went soft. “No…”
Nelson’s very breath was sexy, his mind filled with only one thought.
“Why not?”
Countless nights before, they had done all sorts of intimate things in bed. She had clung to him, calling him husband countless times.
