Ylosea, the city center, a sleepless city.
On the twentieth floor of the river view apartment, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, one could overlook an endless scenery or catch a glimpse of their own weary face through the glass.
Callie stared blankly at the glass for a long time. The last time she came here, she saw Jamir, whom she hadn’t seen in a long time.
The sound of the door opening came from outside, followed by the sound of high heels. “Callie, you made it hard for me to find you. I thought you were dead! Where have you been?”
As soon as the voice fell, an LV limited edition bag smashed into Callie’s body. Looking up, she saw Regan, looking sharp and scolding with her hands on her hips.
“Speak up! I was so worried!” Regan gasped for breath.
Callie looked at her and suddenly smiled. It had only been a few days, but it felt like she hadn’t seen such a lively person in a century.
“It’s only been a few days, but you’ve changed a lot. You’re a strong woman now.”
Regan heard her speak and finally breathed a sigh of relief. She sat down on the sofa, exhausted. “Ahmad transferred his shares today. It’s been a busy day.”
Callie was surprised.
Seeing her expression, Regan knew what she wanted to ask. “Isaac has 20%, Marilyn has 15%, and Charlotte has 10%.”
Callie was even more surprised. “Why does Isaac have 20%?”
It seemed that Ylosea had undergone significant changes while she was away.
“And you know what? A police officer named Malachi came to the Ellison family a while ago and questioned everyone. The old man almost went crazy. Was it you who did it?”
Callie laughed again. “It seems that the police officer did his duty. I should give him a commendation.”
Regan tugged at the corner of her mouth.
“Tell me, why did you come to find me after returning to Ylosea?”
“I missed you.” Callie played with her hair nonchalantly. “But looking at you, full of energy, you must be doing well.”
Regan’s mouth twitched, but she quickly smiled. “Isaac doesn’t hit me anymore.”
“Why?”
“I helped him complete a project. The old man relies on him, and he realized that I can help him, so naturally he wouldn’t dare to hit me.”
No wonder he got 20%. It was a turnaround against all odds.
This was a good thing, and Callie was genuinely happy for her. But soon, she realized something. “You’re taking advantage of Marilyn, aren’t you? Can she let you get away with it?”
“Heh… She’s always chasing after me and causing trouble for me.” Regan slyly winked. “But I’ve also made her suffer.”
Callie curved her lips and asked slowly, “And… what about Charlotte?”
When asked about this, Regan’s eyes suddenly became playful. “She willingly became an assistant at Oconnor Group, but she’s living better than all of us. What do you think?”
Indeed, Callie thought, her husband did treat her well.
Callie forced a smile. “I might have to stay at your place for a few days.”
“Are we still talking about this between us?” Regan changed the subject. “I’m serious, Callie. You have nothing now and still need to rely on Nelson. When necessary, you can soften up.”
But it was really embarrassing to talk about such clear-cut interests between husband and wife.
Callie felt tired. She closed her eyes. “Then you watch over me. I’ll figure out how to soften up to him.”
