Callie recounted what had happened, trembling all over. She was scared, but she could let her guard down with Nelson.
Nelson patted her shoulder. “Didn’t you call the police? There should be results soon.”
Callie shook her head. “No, Nelson, I have a bad feeling. Could it be Shamar? We suspected earlier that he might target Reuben.”
Nelson took her hand and led her out of the meeting room. “I’ll go with you to where Reuben used to live. Maybe he just got confused and went back there.”
This reminded Callie that Reuben might have gotten confused again.
“But what about the surveillance? It just happened to break down at this time,” Callie was still worried.
“Callie, you’re too tense,” Nelson said calmly, gazing at her, trying to make her relax.
Nelson held her hand tightly and didn’t return to the office but went straight to the elevator.
Charlotte hurried out of the secretary’s office and asked a colleague, “Has Mr. Oconnor finished the meeting yet? The coffee is cold.”
The colleague’s expression was somewhat secretive. “Mr. Oconnor has left.”
“Left?” Charlotte was surprised.
“Mrs. Oconnor came by.”

Nelson personally drove Callie to the place where Reuben had lived, but since they moved out, no one had rented it. The door was locked from the outside, so Reuben couldn’t get in.
One option was ruled out.
Callie’s initial hope was dashed, making her even more anxious.
“What do we do… he’s not here?”
Nelson remained silent and called Paucaster Villa Complex. The person on the other end sounded even more panicked. “Sir, Reuben hasn’t come back yet.”
It was getting dark, and Callie’s heart sank. “He’s not here either. Where could he have gone?”
If Reuben had really met with harm, she couldn’t imagine what to do.
“Call Joaquin,” Nelson suddenly said.
Callie realized she had forgotten about Joaquin. She took out her phone, her hands trembling violently as she dialed. Joaquin answered with confusion, “… Sis? What’s up?”
Hearing his tone, Callie looked up and exchanged a glance with Nelson.
“Nothing… what are you doing now?”
Joaquin was even more puzzled. “Working, what else?”
Reuben hadn’t gone to him.
“Never mind.” Callie quickly hung up, not wanting him to hear about Reuben’s disappearance.
Nelson understood and continued to hold her cold hand. “Wait for me.”
He walked a short distance away and made a call. After saying something unknown to the person on the other end, he returned and held Callie’s hand again. “We’ll wait for news.”
Callie felt a chill throughout her body and asked in confusion, “… What happened?”
“We’ve mobilized the Oconnor family people. At most, it will take a day to find clues.”
Nelson hadn’t relied on the Oconnor family’s power for a long time. They had built their fortune through primitive means and had since cleaned up their act considerably. Nelson avoided using them unless absolutely necessary.
But tonight’s sudden mobilization signaled that something major had happened.
These people operated in both legal and illegal circles, adhering to strict rules while performing the most secretive tasks.
Each one was a rare talent, living in various roles within society, their identities well hidden. Not all bore the Oconnor name, but they worked for the family with absolute loyalty.
Rumors exaggerated their capabilities, claiming there was nothing they couldn’t find out.
After Nelson’s father passed away, only Nelson could rally these scattered individuals to work together.
