Nelson showed a look of disgust and stopped walking further. “Jaquan, keep yourself clean. The future of the Ellison family wasn’t easy to earn.”
Jaquan leaned against the wall with a fearless expression, playing with his words. “It’s too early to determine if it was easy or not.”
He left, his back straight and decisive.
“This woman has a nice figure. Want to give it a try?” Jaquan’s voice followed him out.
Nelson didn’t even turn his head.
Inside, Callie was curled up in a corner, letting out a heavy sigh of relief. Her face bore slight red marks from having her mouth covered.
Jaquan appeared, still wearing a vulgar smile. He squatted in front of her. “How does it feel? Isn’t an affair thrilling?”
Callie was furious, wishing she could slap him. She lowered her voice and cursed angrily, “You took advantage of me, you shameless bastard!”
“Watch your language. Without me, you would have been discovered long ago.”
Callie was at a loss for words.
She furiously wiped her mouth and glared at him. “What are you doing here?”
“Discussing business.”
“You couldn’t discuss it at Sky Pavilion? You had to come to the rival’s territory? Do you think I’m stupid?”
“You don’t understand. The most dangerous place is the safest place.” Jaquan smiled and patted her head. “Indeed, you are stupid.”
Callie didn’t want to argue with him. She tried to stand up but her legs were numb. She wobbled and sat back down.
Jaquan laughed genuinely, showing his teeth like a bright young boy.
Callie felt humiliated under his gaze, her face turning red. She wished she could find a hole to hide in.
She tried to get up again, but Jaquan grabbed her wrist and she sat back down. He leaned in close, their breaths mingling. “Are you here to follow your husband?”
Callie puffed up with anger, remaining silent.
“He came to see Maevelyn today.”
He added fuel to the fire, and Callie was almost beside herself with rage. “I saw it with my own eyes! Both of them! I don’t need you to tell me.”
Jaquan lifted her chin. “You’re upset.”
Callie shook him off forcefully. He continued, “If Nelson sees you here, what do you think he will do?”
At his words, she shivered involuntarily. Nelson would-no, he definitely would-kill her.
“Don’t push your luck!”
“Nelson doesn’t know about the project yet. It seems you haven’t told him,” Jaquan said with a satisfied smile. “The time you’ve bought me is enough to handle things cleanly.”
His words made her seem like his accomplice. Callie was even more anxious. “I didn’t keep quiet to help you!”
“Indirectly helping me.”
She didn’t want to talk to him anymore. Jaquan leaned closer, almost whispering in her ear, and suddenly asked, “Is he good?”
Callie was puzzled for a moment before realizing what he meant.
“He’s definitely better than you!” She felt hot all over and tried to push him away.
“You haven’t tried me, how do you know he’s better?” His smile was mischievous but not lewd as he said this.
Jaquan seemed to have a natural charm that made it no surprise women fell for him.
“Want to try?” He wrapped his arms around her waist, whispering like a lover.
“Jaquan, control yourself. If you’re in heat, find someone else.” Her cold words sobered him almost instantly.
He opened his confused eyes.
At that moment, Callie broke free and quickly walked out, only to run into Nelson and his grandfather coming out. She had no choice but to press against the wall, not daring to move.
