The last conversation was still fresh in her mind, and she felt like slapping him again.
If it were him, he definitely wouldn’t stand by her side.
Callie had a headache, and part of her emotions stemmed from not knowing how to face Jaquan.
Fifteen minutes later, the representative from Scott Group arrived. It wasn’t Jaquan who got out of the car, but the manager in charge of the project. It was at this moment that Callie realized Jaquan wasn’t directly responsible for this project.
Then why did he come last time?
The manager entered the crowd, looking around first. “Where is Miss Marsh?”
Everyone looked at Callie.
“Oh, it’s really a misunderstanding. My subordinates were not meticulous enough, causing Miss Marsh trouble.” The manager walked up and shook Callie’s hand. “Thank you for pointing it out, thank you!”
Callie watched their performance coldly, somewhat surprised. “It seems you also know there are issues with these materials.”
“What are you talking about? I just received the news that someone was using substandard materials. It made me furious. Luckily, you discovered it in time. Thank you so much!”
The manager didn’t let go of her hand.
Callie frowned. “It was my employee who discovered it.”
He looked enlightened and quickly went to shake hands with Eliza and Jade behind her, muttering words of gratitude.
“What is your surname?” Callie asked.
“Ellison!”
“Ms. Ellison, I don’t know whether it’s your company’s problem or the construction team’s, but these materials can’t be used now or in the future.”
“Of course, of course, that’s a given.” Ms. Ellison immediately turned and shouted at the construction team, “Who did this? How could they order the wrong materials? Does Scott Group have no money? Stop messing around!”
Elisha’s face turned red, and after hesitating for a long time, he finally gave up and waved his hand helplessly.
“Miss Marsh, I’ll have them replaced immediately. You can send someone to supervise.” Ms. Ellison looked very accommodating.
It was clear she was a very smooth operator.
Callie couldn’t find any fault. “Fine, tell your Mr. Scott that if he doesn’t want to repeat Oconnor Group’s mistakes, he shouldn’t take shortcuts.”
Her words were sarcastic, and Ms. Ellison’s face stiffened before she forced a smile. “Our Mr. Scott ordered me to handle this as soon as he knew about it. Please trust his attitude.”
His attitude, always on the verge of madness. Callie’s face darkened, and she said no more.
It seemed he didn’t want to see her either.
What followed was a chaotic scene of removing the materials and replacing them with compliant ones.
Callie spent the entire day supervising the construction.
There were no further mistakes, but the relationship with the construction team became strained, making future cooperation difficult.
Oconnor Group.
In a private lounge, Nelson sat by the floor-to-ceiling window with a wooden box beside him containing Maeve’s photo.
After meeting Charlotte in Ylosea, he had been restless, feeling something was unfinished.
“Mr. Oconnor, I’ve investigated. Charlotte is an orphan. There’s no concrete evidence proving she has that birthday. It might just be a coincidence.”
“Such a coincidence? They both like wearing white dresses and have the same birthday. If you think about it carefully, even their personalities are similar.” Nelson was reluctant to admit it, but there were indeed too many coincidences.
“Do you mean… she could be Maevelyn?”
Anthony had heard before that Nelson had an obsession with Maevelyn, the eldest daughter of the Ellison family.
“I’m not sure. This kind of thing ultimately needs the Ellison family to verify.”
