Callie took a deep breath. “You guys stall them, I’ll be there soon.”
After hanging up the phone, she turned to Kieran. “Let’s go to the construction site.”
The scene was already tense. Two groups of people stood in opposition, holding tools, looking ready for a confrontation.
“You young folks, who don’t know your place, get out of the way!” the lead worker shouted angrily.
Jade stood at the forefront. “We won’t let you start construction unless we get the test results for these materials.”
“You brat!”
“Are you feeling guilty? These materials are substandard. How can they be used for construction? Who will be responsible if something goes wrong?”
The workers probably didn’t expect such a young person to understand these things.
“What’s all this talk about standards? I told you, the materials are fine.” The contractor, Elisha, arrived at this moment. He approached Jade. “Young man, this project needs to be completed before the end of the year. Don’t delay the progress.”
Jade remained unmoved, staring at Elisha. “Are you involved too?”
“What are you implying about me?” Elisha jumped in frustration. “Who would dare start work on a Scott Group project if there were issues? Even if we send it for testing as you said, it would take at least three to five days. Who will be responsible for the delayed schedule?”
That was a good question. Jade pressed his lips together, not answering immediately.
Elisha pressed on, “When the higher-ups hold us accountable, will you take the blame?”
“I will.” A distant female voice came closer.
Everyone looked over and saw Callie.
Callie strode over and stood with Jade and the others. She calmly said, “If the higher-ups hold us accountable, I’ll take the blame.”
Elisha became even more agitated. “Miss Marsh, why are you arguing with these kids?”
He even addressed her with respect.
“Elisha, it’s not about arguing. My people found an issue, and you should stop the loss in time instead of obstructing us.” Callie smiled faintly. “Or is there really a problem?”
When she took on this project, she was worried about potential issues and preferred to supervise personally to prevent problems.
Elisha frowned tightly. “Miss Marsh, we’ve used these materials on other projects without any problems. They may not meet official standards, but they’re very durable.”
So there was a problem.
Callie glanced at the materials. “Cheap?”
Elisha showed an indescribable expression. “Affordable and practical.”
Callie smiled. “If something goes wrong with the project, we will be held accountable too. So Elisha, I can’t let you use these materials.”
“You!”
As the two sides reached a stalemate, Callie remained unafraid. She turned to Eliza and Jade. “You did well today. Scott Group should thank you.”
Eliza and Jade exchanged glances. “Callie, but if we don’t let them start work, won’t it cause conflict?”
Elisha was already looking for relevant personnel to handle the situation.
“Just stick to your principles. We have nothing to fear if our conscience is clear.”
Though she said that, the tools in everyone’s hands looked quite intimidating.
Callie’s slender figure and her position at the forefront gave her an air of heroism.
“The person in charge of Scott Group will be here soon, Miss Marsh. You can explain to them yourself.” Elisha was exasperated by her lack of understanding of the situation.
Callie wasn’t afraid of much, but hearing about Scott Group’s person in charge made her think of Jaquan first.
