Chapter 661: A Strange Woman Answers the Phone

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2025-2-7

Nelson suddenly remembered something. When he first met Charlotte, he thought she looked like Callie. Was it possible that she wasn’t just similar to Callie, but was actually Maevelyn?
At this realization, Nelson’s heart pounded with anxiety. He couldn’t imagine how he would face her if she was indeed Maevelyn. All the things he had done to her from the beginning would become unbearable sins.
“But with all due respect, Mr. Oconnor, the Ellison family is complicated. It won’t be easy to uncover the truth,” someone said.
Nelson rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. “Find a way to create a coincidence so that Sienna meets Charlotte. The rest will be easy.”
He paused and added, “It has to be Sienna.”
In the entire Ellison family, only she had no ulterior motives. The results of her assessment would be the most genuine.
“I understand,” Anthony replied, turning to leave. Halfway out, he remembered something. “The collaboration with Sammy has been finalized. I heard Jamir was furious.”
Nelson smiled. “Losing the initiative would naturally make him angry.”
This year, the Ellison Group was in turmoil. Isaac’s return made Marilyn even more overwhelmed. Unable to target the Oconnor Group, they also dragged the Scott Group into their chaos.
That night, Nelson had a negotiation at the Kenker Hotel regarding the Oconnor Group’s overseas warehouse arrangements for next year.
He left his personal phone in the car and asked Kieran to retrieve it during the meeting. However, there was an unusually large crowd that day. When Kieran went upstairs, he collided with a woman, and both of their phones fell to the ground. Coincidentally, they had the same model of phone.
They both picked up the wrong phones.
After freshening up, Callie called Nelson’s phone and heard a coquettish female voice answer.
“Who is it?”
Callie held the phone in silence for a moment. Hearing the noise in the background, she guessed where it might be and calmly said, “Hello, I’m looking for Nelson. Could you please pass the phone to him?”
The woman on the other end laughed derisively upon hearing his name. Women working in such places knew too much.
“Looking for Nelson? Are you his mistress or Mrs. Oconnor?”
Callie could tell she was drunk. She sighed and replied politely, “I am Mrs. Oconnor.”
The other end fell silent. The tone and response indeed carried the demeanor of a legitimate wife. The woman slowly asked, “What’s your surname?”
“Marsh.”
She finally believed her. “So you are Mrs. Oconnor. Why not come here yourself? Have you had dinner? It’s quite late.”
Everyone knew that although Nelson treated Mrs. Oconnor very well, she had no status, background, or support. Such a person could easily be replaced in a few years.
Women who worked in such places understood this well.
So she spoke rudely.
But Callie didn’t get angry and continued to respond politely, “I’m looking for Nelson. Please pass the phone to him; it’s important and won’t take long.”
The more polite Callie was, the more arrogant the woman became. “Don’t you know Mr. Oconnor is busy at this hour? If I were you, I wouldn’t disturb him now. Men are fickle in affection. To be Mrs. Oconnor, you need to be docile and obedient.”
She spoke in a lecturing tone.
Callie chuckled and changed her position on the bed. “Understood. So, who are you to him?”
