After several days apart, the passionate reunion between the couple was almost overwhelming. It took Callie three hours to recover from their intimacy.
She took a shower and donned a white silk robe that accentuated her figure while giving her a relaxed appearance.
There were a few unread messages on the phone on the table, all from Regan. She informed her, “I’m currently handling business in Anbusea. Isaac hasn’t found me yet, so don’t worry.”
The polite reply was uncharacteristic of Regan.
Callie pondered as she held the phone. Had the studio’s business expanded to Anbusea? She wasn’t aware of it.
As long as everything was fine.
She hadn’t received a reply from Jamir, which made Callie regret sending the message in the first place. It made her seem too eager.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she deleted the message.
At that moment, a man, half-asleep, wrapped his arms around her slender waist from behind. “What are you looking at?”
Callie turned off her phone. “Nothing, just a message from Regan.”
She leaned down, cupping the man’s artistically sculpted face, and whispered, “The Creator was truly biased, giving you all the best things, including this face that could cause nations to fall.”
Nelson half-closed his eyes, enjoying her compliment. “This face is of no use to me. Do you want it?”
“Of course. If I had such a stunning face, it would greatly satisfy my vanity.”
“Then in the next life, you can be the one who is breathtakingly beautiful, and I’ll be ordinary.”
“If that were the case, I wouldn’t be interested in you.” Callie laughed.
“How dare you!” The man pulled her down with force, threatening her playfully.
Callie lost control and burst into laughter as he tickled her, unable to stop for a long time.
“Was your trip to Anbusea successful?” Once they calmed down, they embraced each other, enjoying their rare time together.
“Yes, it was.” Nelson suddenly remembered something and asked her, “If Jamir came to see you, would you meet him?”
His sudden question caught Callie off guard. She hesitated to mention that they had already met twice before. “… Why do you ask?”
Nelson studied her expression and guessed part of the truth but also sensed that nothing significant had happened between them.
“Nothing. I just wanted to know if you still have feelings for him.”
His words were vague, and Callie couldn’t grasp the deeper meaning immediately. But she quickly realized that the Quinn family was also in Anbusea.
She asked slowly, “Mr. Oconnor, if word got out that you were using public office for private revenge, people would think you’re henpecked.”
“Aren’t I?” Nelson teased her.
“You wish!” Callie retorted angrily. “Apart from using public office for private revenge, nothing else happened, right? I’ve heard that many officials take their superiors to entertainment venues to curry favor. Did you?”
Nelson laughed at her words and buried his head in her neck, speaking ambiguously. “Didn’t you just experience whether I’ve been to such places?”
Callie understood instantly and blushed deeply. “Rogue!”
Nelson’s smile remained, but suddenly a white figure flashed in his mind, causing him to pause slightly and his smile to fade gradually.
The next day, before heading to work at Oconnor Group, Nelson met with Reuben. “As long as you’re healthy and safe at Paucaster Villa, Callie and I can be at ease.”
Reuben’s prejudice against this man had lessened significantly. “You are considerate.”
“Although I don’t know why you suddenly made this decision, I’m sure you have your reasons. I won’t ask further. However, I came here in a hurry and left many of my belongings at the old place. I need to go back and retrieve them.”
