“You’re the winner now. You can say whatever you want,” the person still felt dissatisfied. “The only reason you got Nelson is because of those tricks. Everyone has looks and a good figure, they just lack an opportunity.”
Such childish words made Callie want to laugh, and she did.
“What are you laughing at?”
She laughed because Nelson never cared about those things.
“Your evaluation of me is not the real me, but a reflection of yourself,” Callie smiled and didn’t want to explain further.
She left the break room with her hot water. Strangely, she no longer felt upset by malicious comments from others.
Instead, she felt that these comments were irrelevant.
“Why are you all gossiping like that, nosy women!” Anthony had been worried for a long time. Seeing Callie leave, he finally dared to enter the break room and scolded them.
“Anthony…”
The afternoon meeting continued for four hours. Callie’s meeting minutes were impeccable.
Dale didn’t come in the afternoon. Callie quietly asked Nelson on her phone, and he replied: “Do you still read after exams?”
Dale got his bonus, so naturally, he wouldn’t come back to suffer.
Callie was speechless: “Actually, I do…”
Nelson replied slowly: “Doesn’t seem like it.”
By evening, the meeting ended, but the structure of Oconnor Group was too complex, and they needed to continue for the next two days.
For the first time following through the entire process, Callie saw how exhausting Nelson’s daily work was.
In the office, Anthony reviewed her meeting minutes. “Madam, you truly have a talent. Even the secretarial staff can’t do it as well as you.”
“You flatter me.”
Nelson gestured for Anthony to show him. The latter handed it over while saying, “Really, Madam should come back to work at Oconnor Group. You’re a talent, after all.”
The more he spoke, the more exaggerated it became. Callie couldn’t help but laugh. “I still prefer doing design.”
Speaking of which, the project with Scott Group was nearing submission. The next phase would be construction, and she needed to be on-site personally, leaving her with less time for Oconnor Group.
“Indeed, it’s good,” Nelson commented lightly. Then he added, “I wonder why you made such a basic mistake in the last negotiation. Maybe it was because you saw your ex-boyfriend.”
“Pfft…” Anthony couldn’t help but laugh at Nelson’s jealous yet casual tone.
Nelson looked up and warned him.
Anthony immediately covered his mouth and wisely exited.
Callie was furious. “Nelson, you’re still talking about that!”
He sat in the main seat, dressed in business attire but with a casual expression, looking at her with a playful smile.
“No man can be more jealous than you.”
Nelson didn’t deny it. “I heard the Quinn family’s illegitimate son returned to fight your ex-boyfriend for inheritance.”
Callie ignored his jealous remark. “The Quinn family has an illegitimate son?”
Nelson’s smile widened. “You really don’t know much about your ex-boyfriend. What did you talk about during your relationship? Romance? He didn’t teach you anything; he’s an incompetent ex-boyfriend.”
He was determined to talk about this forever. Callie grabbed her bag from the sofa and turned to leave. “Keep talking, I’m leaving.”
“Why are you angry?” Nelson continued to tease her while following her. “Can’t even tell the truth.”
“Nelson!” Callie stopped, turned around with a red face, and pointed a finger at him.
“Alright, I won’t say it,” he laughed, holding her hand. “Let’s go home.”
