Luther’s face twitched a few times before he let out a cold chuckle. “You? Do you think you’re worth anything? Just a foolish live-in son-in-law, and you dare to talk about death?”
The words had barely left his mouth when two bodyguards stepped out from behind him. These were no ordinary men-they were handpicked from his family’s best.
One was burly with a goatee and a hat, the other sported a full beard and sunglasses. Even though it was nighttime, he still wore those sunglasses.
“Take him down,” Luther ordered with a dramatic wave of his hand. “Break this idiot and drag him out!”
The two bodyguards immediately marched toward Kayden, their fists clenched, brimming with confidence.
Many onlookers knew of their brutal reputation. These were elite fighters, capable of taking on hundreds at once. Luther’s dominance had long been cemented by these two, who had subdued even the most defiant challengers before.
But tonight, as the bodyguards approached Kayden, the room held its breath.
“They’re really going to do it,” someone muttered. “This guy’s walking straight into hell. Why provoke Mr. Falcon when there’s an easier way out?”
“Still, I get it. If someone made such a bold move on your wife, you’d lose your mind, too.”
“Sure, but against Mr. Falcon? It’s suicide. No woman’s worth that.”
The murmurs ceased as the two men reached Kayden. Each grabbed one of his shoulders, ready to strike.
But before they could make their move, Kayden raised his fists. In a flash, he delivered a punch to each of their faces.
Just like that, they collapsed.
Yes, the two robust warriors, who could supposedly fight hundreds, were now on the ground, motionless. Their bodies lay as if lifeless, showing no signs of recovery.
The room fell silent. Gasps echoed as disbelief rippled through the crowd.
Even Luther froze, staring at his bodyguards. His voice trembled as he muttered, “How… how is this possible?!”
These were the strongest protectors of the Falcon family, men he believed to be invincible. The sight before him was unfathomable. Was Kayden also some kind of martial artist?
Kayden’s calm expression sent shivers down Luther’s spine. Those eyes, filled with murderous intent, seemed to pierce right through him.
“What… what are you planning to do?” Luther stammered, his voice shaking.
Kayden took a step forward. “Now, it’s your turn.”
With those words, an overwhelming aura of menace enveloped Luther, making him tremble uncontrollably.
To Kayden, anyone who dared to set their sights on Georgia-his wife-deserved only one fate: death. Forgiveness was not an option.
But just as Kayden’s killing intent surged, Georgia stepped forward, placing herself between him and Luther.
“What are you doing, Kayden?” she asked calmly, her gaze steady.
Kayden’s heart skipped a beat. “Georgia, I won’t let anyone hurt you. You’ve been crying. I know he must have bullied you.”
Georgia’s expression softened for a moment before she swallowed hard and replied, “This has nothing to do with you. I cried because Mr. Falcon moved me. He played a piece of music for me, and I was touched.”
The words hit Kayden like a hammer. He froze, questioning what he had just heard.
For the first time, doubt crept into his mind. Was he hearing her correctly?
“Georgia, what are you saying?” His voice was filled with disbelief.
Georgia clenched her jaw and grabbed Luther’s hand, raising it in front of Kayden. “I’m saying I’ve agreed to be with Mr. Falcon. I’ve accepted his confession.”
Thunder roared in Kayden’s mind. He stood there, stunned, as if struck by lightning. The sensation was foreign to him-he was the one who always inflicted such blows, never the one to endure them.
How could this be? How could Georgia do this?
“Georgia! Did I mishear you?” Kayden’s composure cracked.
But Georgia’s expression turned colder. Her heart was heavy. She stared at him, her lips trembling.
Why was he back? Why now? She had barely begun to pick up the pieces of her life, and here he was, pretending to care. Did he think she didn’t know his real reason for returning?
He wanted her to be his concubine.
Yes, she had heard it all. People whispered that men like Kayden, with his status, always had multiple women. He may have feelings for her, but to him, she was just one of many.
To her, though, Kayden had been everything.
But now, he was destroying her again. Why couldn’t he just let her go?
Georgia’s chest ached as she stared at him. For three years, she had supported him, saved him from death. And yet, those years seemed to mean nothing to him.
Her despair reached its peak. For the first time, her face showed hopelessness.
Kayden, she thought, do you think I’m someone you can discard and reclaim at will?
Her voice trembled as she grabbed Luther’s hand tighter. “You heard me. I’ve agreed to be with Mr. Falcon. From this day forward, I’m officially in a relationship with him.”
Her words struck like another bolt of lightning. Kayden stood rooted to the spot, his mind blank.
The man who had fought countless battles, who had conquered without fear, was now utterly defeated.
He stared at her, his heart shattered. How could Georgia hurt him like this?
In his mind, Georgia had always been his everything.
Why? What had gone wrong? What had changed her?
A thousand questions swirled in his head, but none brought answers.
The onlookers watched the scene unfold, stunned by the sheer drama of it all.
