“So it’s him, huh? But even if it’s him, he shouldn’t be showing up at a time like this. Who does he think he is? Does he really think he can show up now and try to steal a woman from Mr. Falcon? How childish and naive!”
“What kind of woman would choose someone like him over a man as outstanding as Mr. Falcon?”
“Maybe she would. If she truly loves her husband, she wouldn’t agree to Mr. Falcon’s advances.”
“She’s not blind!”
Voices buzzed endlessly around Georgia, pulling her out of her trance. It was as if she’d woken from a deep dream, struggling to climb out of a pit of despair.
She had imagined countless scenarios for the moment she’d see Kayden again. She thought she’d cry, feel helpless, or perhaps pity herself. But when the moment came, she did none of those things. Instead, she felt calm-eerily calm.
Perhaps she’d been hurt too deeply to remember how to feel sadness anymore.
Kayden had changed. Even his appearance was different. Georgia recognized quality, and his outfit alone must’ve cost tens of thousands. The Kayden she used to know had never cared about things like clothing. Even after revealing his true identity, he’d still wear cheap clothes that cost mere dollars, refusing to change them even when she bought him new ones.
But now, he was different. He cared about his appearance, trading simplicity for extravagance.
It must be that woman-she’s the one who changed him.
If he’d already accepted her, then why was he here? Was he trying to flaunt his new life? Or was he here to feign concern for how she was doing?
Whatever his reason, Georgia felt hostility rising within her.
Kayden walked forward, step by step. The crowd parted for him, their whispers falling silent. Two men blocked his way, stepping forward as one of them sneered, “Hey, kid, do you even know whose place this is? This is Mr. Falcon’s territory. I’m warning you-don’t make trouble, or else-”
Smack!
Before the man could finish, Kayden’s hand shot out, slapping him to the ground. He crumpled, motionless.
The other man gasped audibly and stumbled back a few steps, his face pale.
The crowd collectively held its breath, fear silencing them. They opened a path for Kayden, who continued walking forward. His voice was calm but carried a sharp edge as he spoke.
“While I wasn’t around, you thought it was a good idea to confess to my wife? Kid, don’t you think you’re taking me a little too lightly?”
Luther, who had been knocked down earlier, slowly got to his feet. His face twisted into a mocking smile, but before he could respond, Cyan, standing beside Georgia, snapped, “Idiot, what are you even doing here? Don’t you know Georgia was just about to agree to Mr. Falcon’s proposal? Are you here just to make a fool of yourself?”
Cyan had never met Kayden before, but she knew him by reputation as Georgia’s husband-someone widely regarded as a joke.
“If you’ve got any sense, you’d leave now! Otherwise, you’ll just embarrass yourself. I’m telling you, you’re not good enough for Georgia. Do yourself a favor and get lost.” Cyan folded her arms, glaring at Kayden with disdain.
Kayden didn’t even glance at her, let alone respond. To him, her words were nothing but noise.
“Hey, I’m talking to you! Didn’t you hear me? Get lost! Stop ruining Mr. Falcon’s moment!”
Cyan had taken two million from Luther, promising to help him win Georgia’s heart. With the deal almost sealed, she couldn’t let someone like Kayden ruin it.
When Kayden ignored her, she opened her mouth to say more, but Luther quickly cut her off.
Luther chuckled. “So this is the man everyone calls the family joke. Well, you’re not as dumb as I imagined. Let me make myself perfectly clear: I don’t think you’re good enough for Georgia. I plan to take your place. I can take care of her better than you ever could, and I have every right to do so.”
He paused, then added with a smirk, “So now, I’m confessing to her. Why don’t you save yourself the humiliation and get out of here?”
Luther raised a hand, gesturing toward the door, his smile polite but condescending.
Kayden’s eyes flicked to Luther, his expression cold and emotionless. A sharp, chilling aura radiated from him, making it clear that Luther was treading on dangerous ground.
Kayden didn’t need to say a word. The threat in his gaze was enough to make anyone shiver.
Luther, however, mistook Kayden’s silence for weakness. He sneered, “What’s the matter? By the look on your face, you seem pretty upset. Am I wrong?”
“If you want to stay and watch, I’m fine with that. I’ll confess to her right in front of you. You can stay and witness it all if you’d like.” Luther’s smile widened, a mockery etched into his expression.
Was this a challenge to Kayden’s authority? Or was Luther simply offering his neck for the chopping block?
Kayden’s voice dropped to a deadly whisper. “Do you want to die?”
Luther scoffed. Before he could reply, Cyan stepped forward, desperate to insert herself into the moment.
“Die? Who do you think you are? Do you even know who Mr. Falcon is? Let me tell you something-the Falcon family is from Zlando! You’re nothing compared to them. You’re not even as good as a dog!”
Her words hung in the air, her smugness evident. She was determined to secure her two million, no matter what.
Smack!
Kayden didn’t waste time. His hand flew out, striking her hard across the face. Cyan stumbled backward, falling to the ground with a loud thud. Her head buzzed from the blow, her face stinging with pain.
“You… You… How dare you hit a woman?” Cyan screamed, clutching her face in shock and outrage. In her mind, no man would dare lay a hand on a woman.
Women like her always preached about equality-until they found themselves on the receiving end of a slap.
“Georgia, did you see that? Did you see what kind of man your idiot husband is? He even hits women! You’ll never be happy with someone like him. Divorce him already! Say yes to Mr. Falcon-it’s your best option!” Cyan shouted, still sprawled on the ground. Despite the pain, she gritted her teeth and continued to advocate for Luther.
Luther smirked, satisfied with Cyan’s performance. In his mind, the two million he’d spent on her had been well worth it.
Kayden ignored Cyan entirely, his cold, unyielding gaze fixed on Luther. His voice was calm but carried an unmistakable threat as he repeated, “Do you want to die?”
