Kayden looked Audrey up and down and asked, “Are you a teacher at this school?”
Audrey nodded and replied, “Yes, I’m a teacher here!”
“Perfect. Then take me inside,” Kayden said casually.
Audrey sneered and said with disdain, “Take you in? Keep dreaming-”
Before she could finish her sentence, the screech of tires broke the silence. A Ferrari, worth at least seven or eight million dollars, came to a screeching stop at the school gate.
Out stepped a man holding a bouquet of fresh flowers, dressed in extravagant clothing. He was overweight, with a tuft of hair on his chin.
As soon as he saw Audrey, he shouted loudly, “Audrey! Are you off work? I’ve already reserved a table at the Skyview Restaurant. Let’s have dinner together!”
The moment Audrey saw him, her face filled with disgust.
This man, Bruce Peters, was the son of the CEO of Peters Enterprise, a major conglomerate in Inassea with a presence in every city. Using his family’s influence, Bruce had become the epitome of a spoiled rich kid.
Audrey blinked, and a sudden idea struck her.
She quickly hooked her arm around Kayden’s and said, “Yes, I was just about to head home! Mr. Peters, don’t bother with me anymore. I already have a boyfriend-this is my boyfriend!”
Bruce froze in place, his confident stride faltering. His face twisted into a scowl as he said, “Audrey, you must be joking. Him? This guy? How could someone like him possibly deserve you?”
Kayden’s outfit was as plain as ever, the total cost barely two hundred dollars. He looked like a broke college student pulled straight from campus. How could this man possibly be Audrey’s boyfriend?
If this guy were really her boyfriend, it would be the ultimate insult to Bruce.
Audrey declared firmly, “He is my boyfriend. Believe it or not, he’s my boyfriend!”
To emphasize her point, she leaned closer to Kayden and said in a sweet, coquettish tone, “Darling, this is the Bruce Peters I told you about. He’s so annoying, always pestering me. Can you deal with him for me?”
Kayden immediately understood Audrey’s intentions-it was an obvious attempt to provoke Bruce.
Without hesitation, Kayden pulled Audrey closer, her soft chest pressing against him. He responded confidently, “Of course, sweetheart. Anything for you.”
Then, leaning closer, he added, “Come on, darling, give me a kiss!”
Audrey’s eyes widened in shock as she glared at Kayden. But he ignored her protests and moved in closer.
Without hesitation, he kissed her right on the lips. Audrey’s eyes grew even wider as she tightly clenched her fists, her lips firmly shut. This guy was shamelessly taking advantage of her!
She had intended for him to take the bait and embarrass himself. Who would have thought he’d turn the tables and kiss her in front of everyone?
At this point, there was no way she could back out. She had to go along with it, no matter how furious she felt.
This was her sworn enemy-someone she hated with every fiber of her being. Last night, he had taken advantage of her, and now, here he was kissing her again. And at her workplace, no less!
A crowd of students had gathered to watch, stunned by the spectacle.
Audrey felt utterly humiliated but had no choice but to endure. She had dug this hole for herself, and now, she had to fill it, even if it meant swallowing her pride.
Bruce Peters, meanwhile, was fuming. His face turned beet red as he shouted, “How dare you! How dare you!”
Kayden released Audrey and wrapped his arm around her, staring Bruce down. “Now do you believe me?” he said.
“By the way,” Kayden added, smirking, “we even spent the night together last night. You’d better give up while you still can. And if I were you, I’d leave quietly before this gets any worse.”
Bruce was so furious he could barely breathe. Pointing a trembling finger at Kayden, he roared, “You little punk! You’re dead! You hear me? Dead! How dare you touch the woman I want! You’re finished!”
With that, Bruce charged at Kayden, his anger boiling over. This was the most humiliating moment of his life, and he was determined to regain his dignity.
But as soon as Bruce got close, Kayden lifted his foot and kicked him square in the chest. The force of the blow sent Bruce flying backward. He only stopped when he slammed into his Ferrari. If the car hadn’t been there, he might have flown twenty or thirty feet.
Audrey was stunned by Kayden’s strength. No wonder her brother had been killed by him-he was terrifyingly powerful.
For the first time, Audrey felt a chill in her heart. Revenge suddenly seemed like an impossible dream.
Bruce lay on the ground, clutching his chest and groaning in pain. Glaring at Kayden, he spat out, “You’re finished! Completely finished! Just you wait!”
He scrambled back into his car and sped off, leaving a trail of dust behind.
Audrey turned to Kayden, shoving him away and biting her lip. “You pervert! How could you do this to me? I’ll never forgive you!”
Kayden spread his hands and said helplessly, “Weren’t you the one who started this?”
“Pervert! You’re a total pervert!” Audrey shouted, her voice trembling with anger and humiliation.
Kayden ignored her outburst. His attention was drawn to a familiar figure on the school field-a girl with short hair.
It was Leah.
Without another word, Kayden walked away, leaving Audrey standing there, feeling utterly used and discarded.
Overwhelmed, she stood frozen in place. “Unbelievable! What does he take me for?”
Kayden approached Leah from behind and called out, “Leah!”
She turned around, and Kayden immediately recognized her. Her short, stylish haircut, her overalls, and the fitted T-shirt she wore-it was unmistakably her.
Next to Leah was a girl Kayden didn’t recognize.
When Leah turned to face him, Kayden noticed the tears in her eyes.
He froze for a moment and asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
Kayden knew Leah well. She wasn’t the type to cry easily. She was a strong, loyal woman who could handle almost anything. For her to cry like this, something serious must have happened.
“You’re finally here! You’re finally here!” Leah sobbed as she ran to Kayden and threw her arms around him, crying loudly.
Kayden was still confused. He gently patted her back and asked, “What happened? Who hurt you?”
