Camille had a mysterious look on her face and said, “You can guess.”
“One month along? Or two months along? It can’t be three months, right?”
As Sienna said, her expression grew increasingly solemn, and her eyes filled with worry. If Camille’s baby was further along than hers, she felt she would be left behind!
Already unable to catch up with Camille’s first pregnancy, Sienna hoped to compete with her for the second one. But now…
Sienna felt a sense of unease and quickly changed the subject, saying, “Forget it. Don’t tell me. Let’s talk about work instead. Oh, by the way, is Crystal really not coming?”
She shifted the topic abruptly, avoiding discussing Camille’s pregnancy.
Camille smiled, a clear arc forming at the corner of her mouth. Her smile carried a hint of cunning.
She casually replied, “Why are you changing the subject? Are you unhappy about my pregnancy?”
“Do I look happy to you?”
“What if I give birth to a daughter-in-law for you?”
“Can’t you wait? I got pregnant a few years later than you did. Now that I finally have a chance to catch up, you hit me with this news.” Sienna rolled her eyes, not knowing what to say.
Camille continued to smile happily and said, “Oh, come on. Are you seriously making such a fuss over such a small matter?”
Sienna remained silent, pouting in annoyance.
Camille reached out and pinched Sienna’s cheek before saying, “Alright, enough teasing. I’m not actually pregnant. I was just joking with you.”
Only then did Sienna beam and ask, “Really?”
“Really. But if I really were pregnant, wouldn’t you be tormented every day?”
“It’s not like that. I just wanted to keep up with your pace.”
“Alright, stop pretending. I know you too well,” Camille replied indifferently with a light hum.
After ending that topic of conversation, Camille mentioned Crystal and also talked about Ayan and the conversations she overheard outside his office the other day.
Now thinking back on it, she felt an indescribable unease. It was a discomfort that lingered.
She didn’t know if she was overthinking or not, so she wanted to hear Sienna’s thoughts.
Sienna fell silent for a moment after listening and had a slightly startled expression. Then she calmly said, “So, what you mean is that Ayan has some issues with the Bill family now and there are conflicts happening between them. As a result, Crystal is implicated.”
“I’m not sure if she’s implicated, but Ayan assured me that he wasn’t targeting Crystal specifically. He was simply discussing matters related to the Bill family. Since Crystal is part of the Bill family, it’s normal for her to be indirectly involved. However, Ayan promised me that he won’t intentionally target Crystal.”
Camille was someone who could easily be influenced by things happening around her. She wanted to understand everything so that she wouldn’t harbor any unpleasant feelings.
Sienna nodded slightly and said, “Ayan won’t create trouble for no reason. I do trust him in this regard, but I’m curious about what exactly is going on.”
“It’s probably work-related.”
“Is Ayan collaborating with the Bill family?”
“Is that the main point?” Camille asked lightly.
Sienna replied, “It’s not really important. So what do you think? Do you still hope Crystal will come back?”
Camille shook her head gently and said, “It’s not about hoping she’ll come back. If she wants to leave for personal reasons, I respect her decision, because it was her choice. But if it’s not because of her personal reasons and only because Ayan is putting pressure on the Bill family, then I feel somewhat guilty.”
She only wanted to act with a clear conscience.
If one felt guilty, regardless of whether the outcome was good or bad, they wouldn’t find peace.
Sienna understood Camille’s thoughts and said with a nod, “Since you’ve already asked Ayan about it, give him basic trust! As for Crystal’s situation, if you’re still uneasy about it, make a few more phone calls and ask if she has truly made up her mind. If there’s any hesitation on her part, then she should come back!”
Sienna nodded but didn’t immediately call Crystal. She decided to hear Ayan’s ideas in the evening before making the call.
Afternoon work became busy due to Jennie’s arrival. Their workload increased.
Jennie was mainly responsible for coordinating their work and reporting to Mario. She acted as a messenger of sorts. However, things were already convenient without this messenger before, so no one knew why Mario made this change.
But dealing with Jennie was annoying. She had no skills whatsoever but acted in an unbelievably pretentious manner.
Jennie walked around their office several times throughout the day without saying anything. She just glanced briefly before leaving.
Naturally, no one paid any attention to her and treated her like an invisible person.
In the afternoon, Sienna started craving something sweet. She ordered some afternoon tea-coffee and a piece of cake for everyone.
When the delivery arrived and the assistant started distributing them to everyone, Jennie arrived.
She looked around and asked coldly, “What do you all think you’re doing?”
Sienna glanced at her indifferently and replied, “Can’t you see?”
Jennie’s face darkened. Her voice became icy as she said, “Do you know what time it is now?”
Sienna raised her wrist to check her watch and said casually, “It’s three o’clock in the afternoon!”
“Yeah, Sienna, it’s working hours now. Do you know what working hours are for? They’re for working, not for eating and slacking off!” Jennie was furious and accused them arrogantly.
She pointed at everyone. It seemed like she finally caught them doing something wrong. Of course, she needed to make full use of this opportunity.
Sienna couldn’t be bothered with her because she was craving something sweet and just wanted to have a few sips of coffee and eat some cake. She had been in a good mood until Jennie interrupted them. Now she was unhappy.
Sienna looked at Camille and said, “You’re our leader. Handle this!”
Jennie sneered, “You all aren’t taking work seriously at all! The work that could have been completed in less time is taking longer because of your lax attitude.”
Camille also smiled, her eyes lacked warmth as she said, “So what?”
