Chapter 2519: A Surprise

“Actually, I have a suitable candidate in mind to introduce to Agnes,” Spencer said, thinking of Tom Fritz. “He’s reliable and a rare gentleman, but he’s a bit older, maybe about twelve years older.”
“The age difference could cause problems in marriage; it could lead to a generation gap,” Summer replied.
Spencer countered, “Not necessarily. It depends on the people involved. Look at my brother and his wife; they have the same age difference and are happier than ever.”
“Today’s young people often resist family introductions, believing that free love will lead them to their perfect match,” Summer smiled. “I just want Agnes to be happy so that my life feels more complete.”
“She will be,” Spencer reassured her. “With us around, she won’t have to worry about bad men.”
Agnes and Tom were closer to the cafe and arrived early since they were the hosts. They didn’t want to keep the others waiting, as attention to detail reflects character.
Agnes and Tom arrived early, parked the car, and walked into the cafe hand in hand. They found a spot in the courtyard and sat down.
The waiter handed them the coffee menu.
“Please wait; we’re expecting friends and will order together.”
“Sure, call me when you’re ready,” the young waiter said before leaving.
The courtyard had a rustic wooden design, creating a serene environment.
When Spencer walked out of the glass door with his arm around Summer’s shoulder and entered the courtyard, he immediately saw Agnes and Tom Fritz.
Tom Fritz!!
The man sitting next to Agnes was Tom Fritz!
Spencer’s mind buzzed with surprise!
“Spencer!” Agnes called out with a sweet smile, waving them over. “Come here!”
Tom sat beside Agnes, smiling at Spencer. His handsome face showed no surprise as he stood up and extended his hand politely when the couple approached. “Long time no see, Master Spencer.”
Spencer didn’t immediately extend his hand, still staring at him in shock before glancing at the girl beside him.
The two girls noticed something was off. “You… know each other?” they asked almost simultaneously.
Tom’s hand remained extended towards Spencer. Spencer snapped out of it, pulled his hand from his pocket, and shook Tom’s hand. “Long time no see, Professor Fritz. You didn’t come to my wedding; this surprise will take me days to digest.”
Turned out he was going to be his brother-in-law?
Tom smiled warmly and turned to Summer after shaking hands with Spencer. “Hello, Summer. I’m Tom Fritz.”
“Hello,” Summer smiled back, finding her first impression of him quite favorable.
Before Tom Fritz sat down again, Spencer extended his hand proactively. “Professor Fritz, this is quite a surprise… Why did you keep it from me for so long?” His tone was serious yet playful.
Given their close relationship, Tom casually patted Spencer’s hand before sitting down.
Spencer laughed too as he sat down with his wife and introduced them. “This is the friend I mentioned in the car earlier; he’s twelve years older than Agnes.”
Tom Fritz felt slightly embarrassed. “What did you say about me?”
“I said I wanted to introduce you to my sister!” Spencer was surprised. “I didn’t expect you two to already be together!”
Soon after, a waiter came over, and everyone ordered lattes and Blue Mountain coffee.
Agnes suddenly remembered something. Little Bubu was a gift from Spencer, but it was also Tom’s cat, indicating they had a good relationship.
“Spencer,” Agnes got straight to the point. “This is my boyfriend. We are already engaged and plan to get our marriage certificate tomorrow.”
Summer was shocked-engaged? Getting married tomorrow??
Spencer wasn’t very surprised; he smiled and immediately said, “Congratulations.”
“When did you get engaged?” Summer was still shocked. “Why didn’t we know about it?” She tried to control her emotions. “What does your fiance do? How could you not inform your family?”
As an elder sister, her concern was natural.
“It’s my responsibility; I’ll explain everything,” Tom Fritz said responsibly.
