That evening, just as Agnes was preparing to leave work, her phone rang. She saw it was Summer calling and quickly answered while organizing the files on her desk. “Hello, Summer.”
“Bubu, if you’re not working late today, come over for dinner,” Summer invited her. “Spencer is near the office and can pick you up.”
“Sure, but I need to go home first.”
“Alright, see you later.”
Not long after the call ended, as Agnes was heading downstairs, Spencer called her. “Bubu, I’m downstairs at your office.”
“Okay, I’m in the elevator.”
In the company lobby, as the elevator doors opened, Agnes happily hummed a tune and walked out. From a distance, she saw Spencer’s car.
She didn’t sit in the front passenger seat but opened the back door and got in. “I need to go home first to get my little cat.”
“No problem,” Spencer replied.
As they drove, Spencer asked about her work, and Agnes gave an honest report. They also talked about her future plans. Spencer thought that although she was young, she had clear ideas.
Then Spencer asked, “Do you have a boyfriend?”
Agnes looked up at him from the back seat, unsure how to answer. Did she have one? It seemed like she didn’t.
“Not yet?” Spencer saw her expression in the rearview mirror and smiled. “Do you want me to introduce you to someone? There are many single guys in our club who are good-looking and capable.”
“No, no, no,” Agnes quickly refused. “I don’t want to date so soon. I want to focus on my career and improve myself first.”
Spencer agreed with her perspective. “Yes, only by becoming excellent yourself can you attract more excellent people.”
Soon, the car stopped at her apartment building.
“Wait for me a moment; I’ll be right down.” She got out of the car and quickly ran towards the entrance.
“Take it easy! Don’t rush!”
“Okay!”
Her figure soon disappeared from his sight. Spencer smiled to himself, wondering which lucky guy would get to be with Bubu in the future.
Before long, she came back down holding her little cat and walked towards him.
“Spencer, I brought my cat into your car; you don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not! Come on in!”
Agnes opened the car door and happily sat inside with Bubu on her lap. “Stay still,” she gently petted the little cat’s head.
“Meow,” the kitten looked up at her with a soft and cute sound.
Spencer laughed and asked, “Do you like it?”
“I love it so much!” Agnes’s face lit up with happiness. “Thank you, Spencer!” She sometimes thought fate was truly amazing.
If it weren’t for the cat Spencer gave her, she might never have had any interaction with Mr. Cat in real life.
“As long as you like it,” Spencer said with a smile. “Actually, this cat was left at the lifestyle center by a friend of mine for temporary care; I kind of took it by mistake.”
Agnes listened with an amused smile on her face.
At the villa, the kitchen was already bustling with activity. Fresh and delicious dishes were being prepared one after another, filling the dining room with delightful aromas.
In the evening light of sunset, a Maybach drove into the yard.
Spencer had brought Agnes back.
