The woman looked at him, smiling without speaking, thinking she was clever. “If Grandma knew you faked your education to deceive her, what do you think she would think of you?” Tom asked calmly.
Lisa’s face turned pale upon hearing this. How did he know? Their gazes met, but Tom Fritz had no intention of arguing with someone irrelevant.
“Tom, why would I threaten you?” Lisa was intimidated by him and didn’t want to strain their relationship. She quickly smiled and explained, “I came here today just to tell you that I know about your little secret. There are no walls without leaks in this world; who knows, maybe one day Grandma will find out too.”
Tom Fritz stared at her, his deep eyes like an ancient galaxy.
Lisa added, “After all, those two are actors. They may not be famous, but who can guarantee that Grandma won’t see them on TV?”
What she said made sense, and Tom Fritz knew it. His mother had found out in a similar way. However, he didn’t want to say another word to the girl in front of him and started walking inside.
“Tom!” Lisa called out anxiously and hurriedly stepped in front of him to stop him. “I didn’t mean to cause trouble, really. You misunderstood me!”
The man looked at her again, his eyes full of impatience.
Lisa quickly explained, “I really like you and thought that since you’re far from home, I’d come to see you and maybe cheer you up.” She was afraid he would leave before hearing her out.
At this moment, Jeffery walked over. He looked at the two of them and politely said, “Lisa, Tom has a new project starting today and will be very busy. Also, he’s not alone; he has a team. Once he’s in the research institute, he won’t have time for anything else and won’t feel lonely.”
Just as Lisa felt a bit awkward, Tom walked away without looking back.
His figure soon disappeared from her sight, but when she looked at his back, her eyes still shone with admiration for his tall and slender build and his calm and knowledgeable demeanor.
Jeffery glanced at her before turning to leave.
After Jeffery left, Lisa stood there for a long time, reluctant to go. It had taken her three days to finally find this address.
After entering the research institute, Tom didn’t forget to send Agnes a message, informing her that he would be very busy this month and wouldn’t be able to check his phone often.
At that moment, Agnes was in her office at Marsh Group, organizing some drawings. Her phone beeped with a message notification. She picked it up and smiled when she saw it was from Mr. Cat.
She opened the message:
“Bubu, I will be very busy for the next week and won’t have my phone with me. Just letting you know.”
The word “letting” warmed the girl’s heart.
Was this what it meant for everything to fall into place? Was he worried she wouldn’t be able to reach him?
Receiving a message from him voluntarily made her very happy. His proactive attitude today reassured her immensely and reminded her of his promise on the phone that this time he would take the initiative.
Her heart was filled with love and warmth.
She quickly replied: “Got it. Take care of yourself amidst your busy schedule.”
She waited for a while holding her phone but got no reply. He must have gone back to work. She put down her phone and returned to her tasks with an even better mood.
For the next week, Ansel kept his promise and did not disturb her.
Agnes’s days went well; work was orderly and her mood was great. Although she often thought of Tom, there were no more internal struggles because her love had been reciprocated.
