Jake hadn’t expected Ulric to guess so quickly, internally cursing himself for possibly causing trouble.
So he hurriedly denied it, “No, it’s not!”
“Really?” Ulric’s dark eyes fixed on him.
Jake immediately put on an innocent and naive expression, “Of course.”
He still didn’t understand the implications of his words.
R could be Ruell, or maybe not.
Ulric’s handsome face visibly stiffened, his thin lips trembling uncontrollably.
But to Jake, this all seemed like disbelief.
He quickly thought of a surname to make up and deceive Ulric, but then he heard Ulric’s voice.
“Is it Russell?”
Seeing that Ulric had given him an out, Jake hastily waved his hand vaguely, “Oh, you just asked for a letter, why are you cheating now? Is it really okay to trick a kid like this?”
“Alright, I won’t ask anymore.”
Ulric felt he needed to have a serious “conversation” with his parents about this matter.
Regardless of whether it was true or not, he couldn’t ignore his mother’s side any longer! He used to find it annoying and incomprehensible, so he kept his distance to avoid getting angry and causing her health issues, as well as sparing himself from the noise.
But after Sirena’s recent actions, he knew he couldn’t turn a blind eye anymore.
She dared to act so recklessly because she had his mother’s backing.
Sirena didn’t know how to restrain herself; if she did, things wouldn’t have escalated to this point! Ulric now even suspected that Johnny’s situation was related to her.

Rosalind knew Jake was in Northville City, so she couldn’t leave.
Although she couldn’t directly go to Ulric and ask for the child, she was worried that the Walters family might harm the child. She had to stay here and look for an opportunity to take Jake away.
Both Malcolm and Tilda advised her to leave first.
Especially Malcolm, “There are Ulric’s people everywhere here. It’s easy for you to be exposed! Rosalind, I can handle Northville City. I’ll find a chance to get close to Ulric and bring Jake out.”

Actually, Rosalind’s primary concern wasn’t Ulric’s parents; after all, there was blood relation involved, so they wouldn’t act as ruthlessly as they did with Eva! But Sirena wouldn’t show any mercy.
Weren’t all these troubles caused by her?
“I’m trying to contact Jake, Rosalind. I believe Jake has good judgment! He said he wanted revenge; after making a scene, he’ll probably contact me! Then we can leave the country as planned!” Malcolm felt that Northville City was indeed unsafe.
Now that Ulric knew about the child’s existence, Rosalind would be his prime suspect.
If he noticed anything unusual about Rosalind, it would be tantamount to admitting everything.
