“At this point, what else can I do?” Rosalind had already prepared for the worst. “If there’s no other way, I’ll have to take the final step! I’ll go to Sirena.”
Sirena wasn’t entirely without fear of her own situation.
She should know that if she told Ulric her suspicions about her mother’s death, Ulric would investigate her immediately!
Maybe… she could use this as leverage to threaten Sirena, to make sure she didn’t harm Jake!
“Rosalind, you’re usually so smart. Why are you losing your head now? All you’ll do is force Sirena into a desperate move, it won’t change anything!”
“But I can’t just sit here and wait for Jake to come back on his own!”
Rosalind looked at Malcolm, her face full of exhaustion.
She was on the verge of breaking down!
Everything had disrupted her original plans, leaving her helpless.
“I told you, trust me. I’ll handle these things for you! I promise Jake won’t be harmed in any way. You go back to work as usual, don’t let Ulric suspect anything! Once I find Jake, I’ll bring him to you immediately, and we’ll leave right away.”
“But…”
“Rosalind! You should realize by now that if Jake hasn’t achieved his goal, he’ll still try to leave you to find Ulric! It’s better to let him finish what he wants to do. I think he’ll come looking for me.”
Rosalind had a thousand worries stuck in her throat.
But she knew there was little she could do now.
“You go first, leave the rest to me.” Malcolm walked over and patted her shoulder. “Floyd is still waiting for you.”
Rosalind didn’t say anything more, neither agreeing nor refusing.
She was confused and needed time to think.

In the hospital, Johnny was still in the intensive care unit, not allowing visitors.
Everyone who came could only wait at the door, including Johnny’s parents.
Ulric had sent someone to the airport to pick them up and brought them directly to the hospital.
“What exactly happened? Ulric, what did the doctor say about my son?” Mrs. Chow’s eyes were swollen from crying as she held Ulric’s trembling hand.
This was the only child of the Chow family!
“I’ve already arranged for renowned doctors from abroad to come for a consultation. He will be treated.” Ulric didn’t know how else to comfort them, so he chose to act rather than speak.
Mr. Chow appeared more composed but stood silently at the ICU door with a grim expression.
After a while, Sirena arrived.
Seeing Mrs. Chow there, she cried even louder than Mrs. Chow.
“Uncle, Auntie, I’m sorry!”
Sirena walked up in high heels and knelt before them without saying another word.
This action stunned Mr. and Mrs. Chow.
“What are you doing?” Mrs. Chow stepped forward to help her up, but Sirena insisted on staying on her knees.
“Auntie, Johnny’s car accident is partly my fault! Because… because of something between Ulric and me. He came to persuade me, and we had an argument. Johnny drove off to find Ulric in a fit of emotion and didn’t notice the oncoming traffic…”
Mrs. Chow listened in confusion but understood most of it.
She glanced at Ulric with a frown. “You two were arguing, and my Johnny was just too kind-hearted, treating you both as real friends!”
