Chapter 581: Gone

Book:Married The Day We Met Published:2024-12-16

She returned to her world, continuing to bury herself in books and studies, working part-time during her free time, still not fitting in. After that, she never mentioned Jamir again, as if she had never met him.
For all these years, Callie never thought he would come back. She wandered aimlessly on the empty street, reminiscing about the past, feeling as if it had all been a dream.
Regan drove up behind her, honking loudly. “Where are you going!”
Callie snapped back to reality and looked up blankly. “Regan…”
“Although I don’t know what happened, I hope you can be happy,” Regan said as Callie got into the car.
Callie gave him a grateful look and then said, “It’s nothing really, just some small matters.” As she spoke, she lowered her head and sent a message to the unknown number: What do you want?
There was no reply.
Seeing that she didn’t want to talk, Regan suggested, “How about I take you somewhere fun?”
“Huh?”
Regan took Callie to a bar. With each step, she felt her ears were about to burst from the noise. She forced herself to shout, “Nelson doesn’t let me come to places like this. Maybe we should go somewhere else!”
Callie’s voice was drowned out by the explosive atmosphere around them. Regan held her hand tightly and led her to a VIP booth.
“Hey, Regan! You finally made it!”
“Who’s this… she’s beautiful!”
Proudly, Regan introduced Callie to the group of young men and women. “This is Callie, my best friend. Don’t even think about hitting on her!”
“Callie, these are my friends.”
Feeling uneasy under their scrutiny, Callie found it hard to adjust from a high-end wedding to a bar. “Hello!”
“Hello… hello…”
Someone made a joke, and Regan pulled Callie to sit down. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. She’s married, and if I told you who her husband is, you’d be scared to death.”
Then she reassured Callie, “Don’t worry, I’ll send you back later. Nothing will happen. I’ve been stuck for so many days; I need to have some fun.”
With that, Regan joined the DJ on stage, dancing and drinking.
Surrounded by scantily clad men and women, Callie felt her heart ache from the loud music. She couldn’t help but admire Regan’s endurance.
She watched the time uncomfortably, but eventually got used to it. Not wanting to disturb Regan’s fun, she curled up in a corner and fell asleep.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the lively scene, Nelson was searching the hotel for her with a dark expression.
“Where is she?”
“Maybe Mrs. Oconnor felt bored… and left on her own.”
Sensing something was wrong, Nelson drove quickly back to Paucaster Villa.
“Callie!”
A servant came out upon hearing the commotion. “What’s wrong, sir? Wasn’t madam with you? She hasn’t returned.”
Nelson’s face changed completely.
“Get me the surveillance footage from the hotel and around Paucaster Villa immediately! I want to know her whereabouts within half an hour!”
Nelson issued orders decisively. This matter couldn’t be blown out of proportion; otherwise, everyone would know Mrs. Oconnor was missing by tomorrow!
At the same time, Nelson felt a vast emptiness inside him. He was extremely anxious that Callie might disappear without a trace again like two months ago and leave him…
Overwhelmed by excruciating pain, Nelson buried his head, hiding his disheveled appearance.
The phone on the table displayed numerous missed calls.
