Chapter 580: Unwilling to Settle Down

The night was windy, and she shivered in the dress he had given her, hugging herself with a heart full of sorrow, on the verge of tears.
Callie remembered walking back step by step, feeling the helplessness of trampling her pride underfoot and succumbing to her emotions. She thought that he was different from ordinary people and that she shouldn’t be too harsh on him.
But she didn’t expect to see Jamir kissing another girl when she returned.
It was Jamir’s well-known ex-girlfriend, the girl who used to sit in his passenger seat.
Callie trembled violently, standing still as she watched them, suddenly recalling someone once warning her, “Do you believe it? Jamir will never end up with you.”
The prophecy came true.
Someone noticed Callie and secretly pointed her out to Jamir. The man shot back a vicious glare, then paused, his face turning pale, but he didn’t let go of the girl in his arms.
After that, Jamir openly started seeing new lovers, spending nights at clubs until dawn, and stopped caring about Callie. It seemed like he had returned to his days before knowing her, spending money lavishly, with the most valuable thing about him being his wealth.
That night was the last time they saw each other.
When his ex-girlfriend came to visit, Callie was in the hospital getting an IV for a fever.
Seeing her like this, the girl paused, “What’s wrong?”
Receiving no response, she moved her alluring red lips and spoke venomously, “Where’s Jamir?”
Callie’s lips were pale, still not responding.
The other girl put on a knowing expression, “Could it be that Jamir hasn’t told you?”
“What?”
“Never mind, it would only cause trouble.” She smiled, “After all, it’s not something to be proud of.”
Callie remained unexpectedly calm, “Explain yourself.”
That day at the convenience store after Callie had unceremoniously left Jamir behind, the girl had laughed at him, “Turns out not every girl likes Mr. Quinn.”
“She’s just somewhat stubborn.”
“Yeah right, but you’re just staring at her.”
“Jealous?”
“Why would I be jealous?”
“What if she falls for me?”
“I’d give you to her.”
“Girl,” the other girl’s eyes were also almond-shaped, looking slightly upward at Callie’s pale face, “maybe you don’t know yet, but Jamir is a posthumous child. His father died in a car accident before he was born. Jamir’s mother only managed to secure her place in the Quinn family because of him. He’s a favored son. The Quinn family might tolerate his wildness now, but eventually, all the family assets will be handed over to him.”
“Of course, I can’t let you have him.”
Callie finally let out a cold laugh, tears streaming uncontrollably from the pain in her heart.
She finally began to understand that all those so-called true loves were illusions. From beginning to end, it was always her being foolishly sentimental.
Jamir wasn’t just a simple and naive big boy; he was calculating and manipulative, a cat lurking in the dark, hiding everything in his eyes. He could make any girl bow down if he wanted to. But he would never give his heart.
Maybe she should have understood from the start what kind of person he was.
His ex-girlfriend didn’t press further; she patted Callie’s shoulder and left.
From childhood to adulthood, there were countless girls Jamir had let down; Callie was nothing special. That’s just who he was-unwilling to settle down and never willing to live an ordinary life with one girl.
Not long after this incident, Jamir went abroad. The two of them became like parallel lines after a brief intersection.
Later, Callie heard that Jamir went to San Francisco for further studies.
