Ulric’s ears were ringing painfully, followed by the sound of car alarms…
“Johnny, Johnny!”
He called out several times, but there was no response.
Realizing something was wrong, Ulric immediately called Cedric to check where an accident had occurred on the main road to Easthaven Bay.
Sitting next to him, Jake was quicker. He pointed at his phone screen.
“It should be on Sixth Avenue. There’s a lot of traffic congestion there.”
Ulric glanced at him and nodded without any doubt. “Stay home. I’ll give you access to the W Group backend. Don’t leave until I get back.”
Jake nodded, choosing not to complicate matters. “Okay.”

By the time Ulric arrived, Johnny had already been taken to the hospital.
He turned his car around and headed to the hospital. At the entrance of the emergency room, Sirena was already standing there.
When she saw Ulric, she looked as if she could barely stand, leaning against the wall with her makeup smeared from crying.
“Ulric… you’re finally here! How could this happen to Johnny?”
Ulric first glanced at the glaring red light of the emergency room, then looked at Sirena.
“Who called to inform you?”
Johnny was on the phone with him when the accident happened; he couldn’t have had a chance to notify Sirena!
The question made Sirena forget to continue crying.
Fortunately, she was used to lying and quickly adapted.
“The hospital called me. He had my number saved as a priority contact. They might have thought I was someone important to him.”
Ulric narrowed his eyes. He didn’t believe a word Sirena said now.
Seeing his silence made Sirena nervous.
She quickly changed the topic. “Ulric, do you think Johnny will be okay? He was working at the company just fine; why did he suddenly leave? I was shocked when I got the call!”
“Contact his parents.” Ulric didn’t watch her act or listen to her words.
“Oh right… I was so anxious I forgot! I’ll contact them now!”
Sirena turned and walked towards a corner.
Ulric stood still and swiped across his phone screen a few times.
After a while, Sirena returned, looking worried. “Johnny’s parents’ phones are off! What should we do?”
She looked up and saw that Ulric’s phone displayed Johnny’s father’s number in an active call.
Calmly, Ulric informed Johnny’s father about the situation and hung up before looking at Sirena again.
“Johnny’s accident is related to you.”
“How could it be! Johnny treats me so well; I have no reason to harm him! We are friends!”
“Then why didn’t you want to notify the Chow family? You didn’t even call his parents.”
Otherwise, his call should have been met with a busy signal, not an active connection.
Sirena hadn’t expected him to set traps for her everywhere. “I… I just dialed wrong in my panic!”
“I also reported this to the police. Explain it to them.”
He didn’t want to say another word to this woman.
Sirena stepped forward, trying to touch his arm, but Ulric took long strides and avoided her directly.
She clenched her fists and then suddenly relaxed them with a low laugh. “Do you hate me that much? Fine, then I’ll tell you something! Haven’t you been looking for that little boy’s father? I’ll tell you now, that child is yours!”
