In Easthaven Bay, Ulric canceled several meetings to spend time with his newly discovered son, Jake. Feeling awkward and slightly embarrassed, he tried to connect with the boy.
“What do you want to eat?” he asked.
Jake looked at him and sat on the sofa. “Didn’t we just eat?”
“Then how about something to drink or some snacks? I’ll have someone get them,” Ulric offered, trying his best to figure out what kids liked.
But Jake was not an ordinary child. “What about the computer you promised me? I want to play on the computer.”
Ulric immediately instructed Cedric to bring the computer. Before that, however, he had a question. “Was it you who caused the issue with W Group’s software?”
Jake nodded without hesitation. “You deserved it.”
“Did your mother tell you that I’m a scumbag?” Ulric probed, hoping to learn more about Jake’s mother.
Jake wasn’t fooled. He looked up at Ulric and smiled. “Don’t treat me like a kid! I know what you’re thinking, but you don’t know what I’m thinking!”
In the spacious living room, father and son, who looked 99% alike, stared at each other. After a long silence, a faint smile appeared on Ulric’s handsome face.
“How could I not know? You’re here for revenge.”
“…”
“You moved in here to gather evidence against me, right?” Ulric knew exactly what was going on.
This clever kid was still just a child. Especially since he insisted on having Johnny’s computer and didn’t resist being brought home, his intentions were clear.
What puzzled Ulric was why Jake’s mother harbored such deep resentment against him. He had only ever been with Rosalind and was always careful to avoid any suspicion when dealing with women at work. How could there be someone who hated him so much?
“Yes!” Jake admitted openly. “I’m here to find your weakness. If you’re scared, kick me out!”
If that happened, he could tell everyone that his father, Ulric, refused to acknowledge him and kicked him out! That would be a scandal for W Group!
“This is your home; there’s no question of kicking you out,” Ulric said calmly. Instead of getting angry, he thought it might be beneficial for W Group if Jake did find any weaknesses.
“Fine! Don’t regret it,” Jake said, prepared for anything. He had made up his mind not to return until he had avenged his mother and sister.
Ulric couldn’t help but smile slightly. Just as he was about to reach out and touch his son’s hair, his phone rang unexpectedly.
At this hour, he assumed it was Cedric calling with a work update. But when he checked the caller ID, it was Johnny!
What could Johnny want? Probably worried about how he was getting along with Jake.
In an unusually good mood, Ulric answered the call. But Johnny’s urgent tone surprised him.
“Ulric, are you still in Easthaven Bay? I need to talk to you!”
“Yes, are you on your way?”
“Yes, wait for me! I need to tell you about Si-”
Before Johnny could finish his sentence, there was a sudden loud noise on the other end of the line!
