In fact, Sirena was more panicked than Johnny, but she calmed down faster.
“You keep saying you trust me, but you’re still investigating me?” She wasn’t stupid; she understood immediately. “If you really trusted me, you would have called this number with your own phone, not someone else’s! You’re afraid I’d recognize your number if it were really you, aren’t you?”
Johnny was speechless.
Indeed, he had thought it over and used his assistant’s private number just to be safe.
But was that the point?
“Sirena, you’re insane! Do you still want to harm Ulric’s son? He’s just a child, how could you do that?”
“I didn’t want to harm him. It was Ulric’s parents who wanted to see the child, so I had him taken away!” Sirena had already prepared her excuse and threw Audrey under the bus.
But Johnny wasn’t foolish; he just didn’t want to think too deeply about it.
“If his parents really wanted to see the child, you wouldn’t have taken him to a warehouse in the suburbs. You would have given him directly to them!”
“I, I just-”
“Stop making excuses. I won’t be fooled by you anymore! I’m going to find Ulric right now.”
With that, he hung up. Sirena was truly scared this time.
Before Johnny could leave the office, Sirena rushed in from the legal department in a panic.
Her appearance was a far cry from her usual elegance and poise.
“You can’t go to Ulric! He mustn’t know about this!”
“And then what? You want me to keep hiding this for you? Sirena, my only regret is not telling Ulric sooner that you also harmed Rosalind’s mother!”
He had genuinely believed that once Sirena drove Rosalind away, she would stop.
He had also believed that there was another man between Rosalind and Ulric leading to their divorce.

“I didn’t! It was all done by Ulric’s parents! Johnny, what power do I have? I was just following their orders. You have to believe me!” Sirena desperately tried to grab Johnny’s hand.

Johnny brushed Sirena aside and tried to leave.

“Johnny, listen to me! You can ask Ulric’s parents; I was just following their orders!”
“I don’t care. You can explain it all to Ulric! I won’t be an accomplice anymore!”
Johnny coldly threw out these words and pushed past Sirena into the elevator.
Seeing him likely heading to Easthaven Bay since Ulric wasn’t at the office now… this might be her only chance!
She clenched her fists and steeled herself.

“Johnny, if you insist on this, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
