He couldn’t believe it. In Ulric’s own house, he would surely find some flaw in his company!
Just as Ulric was about to speak, Johnny quickly interrupted, afraid that the father and son would clash upon meeting. “Uh… Ulric, the kid has just met you. He must be a bit wary! Ask him slowly once you take him home. For now, let’s go eat. I’m hungry, and he should be too!”
After speaking, Johnny gave Jake a look.
Jake reluctantly nodded, “Yeah, I’m hungry.”
“Alright.” Ulric felt a bit at a loss facing this sudden son.
Luckily, Johnny was there to ease the awkwardness.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Ulric ordered a table full of dishes because he didn’t know what the child liked to eat.
Watching Jake eat with his head down, Johnny leaned over to Ulric and whispered, “Let me tell you, your son is an internet genius!”
Ulric glanced at him. “I’ve noticed.”
“Huh?”
“The W Group’s software crash was probably his doing.”
Johnny just connected the dots. “I wouldn’t have thought of that if you hadn’t mentioned it! Let’s just say, you’ve got good genes…”
Ulric shot him a look. “If you want one, go have your own.”
“Tsk! My son might not be this smart!” Johnny chuckled. “Your son is adorable, like a little adult. Since you have no experience raising kids, why don’t you let me take care of him?”
Johnny now wanted to take back his words about not liking children!
He liked them very much! Liked them immensely!
“No.” Ulric’s refusal was straightforward.
“Why not? You don’t know how to take care of kids and you’re busy with work. You have no time! I’m different. I spend my days eating, drinking, and having fun with plenty of time.”
Ulric’s gaze softened as he looked at Jake seriously chewing his food, as if their blood connection suddenly became real!
“I will learn.”
“… You don’t even know who his mother is yet you’re willing to spend time on him?”
Ulric’s tone was solemn and serious. “He’s my son; it’s my duty.”
Plan failed, Johnny deflated instantly.
“If I had known, I wouldn’t have told you! I’d have secretly kept him!”
He nudged Jake. “Kiddo! I agree to our deal. Give me that string of numbers.”
Jake made an OK gesture. “Give me your computer and I’ll send it to you.”
Ulric was puzzled. “What deal?”
“It’s our secret! Not telling you!”
Watching them chat happily made Ulric feel indescribable emotions.
Upon closer inspection… was he actually feeling a bit jealous?
“Jake, if you want a computer, I can get you the most advanced one in the world.” Ulric said it as if buying a toy for a child.
Sure enough, Jake’s eyes lit up with stars upon hearing this!
“Really?”
“Of course.”
Johnny immediately protested indignantly. “Ulric, that’s cheating! How can you use money power on a kid!”
“My son just wants a computer.”
“You haven’t done a DNA test yet! What if he’s not yours?” Johnny could only hope for this.
But Ulric simply raised an eyebrow. “Is there any doubt?”
