Chapter 1461: Dragon Slayer

The Twins looked at Chris with trepidation in their eyes.
They had never expected Chris to possess such overwhelming strength. Killing him was now wholly impossible.
“Retreat!”
Without wasting a single word, the two turned and fled. Their speed was astonishing. In the blink of an eye, they had vanished from sight.
Watching their retreating figures, Chris narrowed his eyes slightly.
Indeed, the Twins were formidable. Even he could not eliminate them in one stroke.
But this raised a troubling question: Daniel Williams had summoned four Paragons. Only two had appeared-who were the other two? How powerful could they be?
Candace approached, her face filled with worry. “Chris, who were they? Why are they trying to kill you?”
Chris’s expression turned grave. “They are assassins sent by Daniel Williams!”
“What?!”
Candace gasped in shock. She could hardly believe that her Chris had become entangled with none other than a prince of Amerosia.
“Chris, do you want me to ask my grandfather to help you?”
Chris shook his head. “No need. Just a few assassins-they’re not worth my concern.”
Candace’s grandfather was none other than Caspian, the Marshal of Amerosia. Chris had no desire to trouble him unless absolutely necessary.
With a trace of guilt, Chris said, “Candace, I’m sorry for ruining your dinner. Let me take you to another restaurant to make it up to you.”
Candace shook her head. “No, Chris! It’s too dangerous out here. We should leave quickly instead.”
Chris nodded. “Alright. In that case, another time.”
He escorted Candace back to the Nance family estate before returning to his own villa.
“Emberwood Guards, assemble!”
Chris’s voice boomed like thunder.
A blur of red streaked into view, and a man in crimson stood before Chris.
“My lord, I am Red, leader of the Emberwood Guards!”
Chris’s expression was stern. “You’ve heard about the assassination attempt. The assassins are strong, and I may not be able to handle them alone. I’ll need your assistance if necessary.”
Red bowed slightly. “Rest assured, my lord. Our duty is to protect you at all costs. If your life is threatened, we will act without reservation.”
“Good.”
Chris nodded, saying no more. In the next moment, Red disappeared as swiftly as he had come.
After Red’s departure, Chris was reminded of something Seraphina had told him earlier that day.
At the Dragon Order base, Seraphina had mentioned that Chris’s mentor, Archer Wintersong, had left behind something of great importance for him at Emberwood Estate. She had insisted he retrieve it himself.
Compelled by curiosity, Chris decided to make the trip to Emberwood Estate.

The estate was sprawling, covering at least a thousand square meters.
Chris spent a great deal of time searching but found nothing. Frustrated, he muttered to himself, “That old geezer-where did he hide it this time?”
Still, Chris knew his mentor well enough to trust him. Archer Wintersong would never lie about something so important.
Suddenly, Chris’s gaze landed on a statue.
It was a statue of Archer Wintersong himself.
Chris found it odd. Why would his mentor erect a statue of himself here? Was there something hidden within?
An idea struck him.
Without hesitation, Chris balled his fist and struck the statue.
*Boom!*
A thunderous noise echoed through the estate.
The statue cracked open, revealing a hollow space inside.
Chris’s face lit up with excitement. “I knew it!”
He climbed into the hollow and quickly found a long, ancient-looking box.
The box had an air of antiquity, its design both simple and elegant.
Chris opened it and was stunned to find a warblade inside.
“This is…”
Chris froze, inspecting the blade carefully.
The hilt was carved in the shape of a dragon’s head, and the blade itself gleamed with a deadly edge. It was so sharp it seemed capable of slicing through iron as if it were paper.
The weapon was incredibly heavy-Chris estimated it weighed at least several dozen pounds.
Inside the box, he also found a folded piece of paper.
The note read:
**”Chris, if you’re reading this, it means you’ve found what I left for you. This warblade is called Dragon Slayer. It was once the weapon of Lord Dragon, forged from an unbreakable, otherworldly material.
For years, I wielded this blade, but now I am venturing to a perilous place. I’ve decided to leave Dragon Slayer in your hands. Do not disappoint me.”**
Chris was stunned. “Dragon Slayer… the weapon of the legendary Lord Dragon from a thousand years ago?”
He could hardly believe it.
For years, Chris had fought barehanded. It wasn’t that he disliked weapons-he simply hadn’t found one worthy of him.
But now, Dragon Slayer was everything he had been searching for.
To test its power, Chris swung the blade.
*Boom!*
The ground split open, forming a deep fissure. Dragon Slayer remained unscathed.
Chris laughed heartily. “What a blade! Truly a masterpiece!”
He studied the weapon in awe. “Dragon Slayer… could this blade really slay dragons?”
For a moment, Chris’s thoughts wandered to the era of Lord Dragon. He felt a surge of curiosity and longing for that ancient time.

The next morning, Chris rose early and spent his time quietly brewing tea in the courtyard.
Suddenly, four figures appeared atop the courtyard walls.
They stood in the four cardinal directions-east, south, west, and north-blocking all possible escape routes.
Chris sipped his tea calmly and said, “So, you’ve finally come.”
One of them, a man with a deathly pale complexion, sneered. “You knew we’d come for you?”
Chris chuckled. “Of course. That’s why I’ve been waiting here for you.”
The pale man laughed coldly. “Impressive. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Light Sin, ranked third among Amerosia’s cultivators. You killed my brother, Dark Sin. Today, I’m here to avenge him!”
As he spoke, a murderous gleam flashed in Light Sin’s eyes.
Dark Sin’s death had been a heavy blow to the Hall of Valerian. This was why Daniel Williams had summoned four elite cultivators to eliminate Chris once and for all.
Chris smirked. “Enough talk. Weren’t you here to kill me? Then let’s get on with it.”
