He was so earnest that Callie couldn’t refuse, “Alright.”
Kieran first took Regan to the hotel, and Nelson personally escorted Callie to the stylist to change clothes.
Her black hair was all pinned up, her makeup was sophisticated, with dark lipstick from Louboutin. She wore a golden strapless gown that revealed her delicate shoulders and calves, and she walked steadily in ten-centimeter silver high heels.
Even the stylist was amazed, “I must say, with makeup and the dress, you look like a natural-born lady.”
Nelson leaned against the G-wagon, watching Callie walk towards him with a leisurely air.
Callie stood before him, her long lashes fluttering nervously under his scrutiny, “What’s wrong? Do I not look good?”
She looked too good, like a noble princess from Europe.
Nelson extended his hand, his lips parting slightly, “You look beautiful.”
Callie placed her small hand in his large palm, feeling the rough warmth as they walked into the hotel together.
This was a grand occasion; past conflicts and frictions were not to be mentioned. Today, Callie knew her task was not to embarrass the Oconnor family or Nelson.
The elite circles were never short of handsome men and beautiful women, especially tonight with the presence of various distinguished guests.
But as Nelson and Callie walked in together, everyone else seemed to fade into the background; stars could not compete with the bright moon.
Jaquan stood at the entrance welcoming guests, dressed in a black suit, nodding to those passing by.
“Jaquan.” Nelson approached with Callie in tow.
Jaquan’s gaze fell on the woman behind him, momentarily dazed. He remembered the last time he was at such an event was Isaac’s wedding, where he had brought Callie along.
Now their roles were reversed.
“Please come in.” Jaquan had no desire for small talk.
Callie hadn’t seen him in a long time and didn’t expect him to soon become a husband.
This choice must be beneficial for his future.
“Nelson is here too. Oh, this must be Mrs. Oconnor.” A guest called out to Nelson.
It was an elder; Nelson did not evade but greeted politely.
Callie and Jaquan stood face to face. After a moment of eye contact, Callie asked, “Do you regret it?”
Though they were on opposing sides, she could understand his helplessness.
Jaquan chuckled lightly, glancing at Nelson from the corner of his eye, “No regrets.”
“That’s good.” Callie nodded, taking a cash gift from her purse and placing it in the basket before him. It was a thick gift of money.
Inside the banquet hall, Ahmad and Sienna were greeting guests with Regan solemnly by their side.
Many people now knew that the rumors of Regan being abused were unfounded.
Someone asked, “Where’s Isaac? It’s such an important occasion; why isn’t he here?”
Sienna opened her mouth but before she could speak, Regan answered first, “He’s on business in the north and couldn’t make it back today. Please forgive him; I’ll drink this toast on his behalf.”
This effectively quashed any rumors of discord.
Many exchanged glances.
Sienna gave Regan a grateful look.
Soon after, the wedding officially began.
A ten-meter red carpet was strewn with rose petals. Flower girls held the bride’s train as romantic wedding music played. Marilyn wore a white rose bracelet and held a bouquet as she slowly walked down the red carpet with Ahmad’s support towards the man standing straight at the end.
Countless camera flashes went off.
