“Jake?! Where are you now?!”
Receiving this call, Johnny was stunned, almost thinking he was hallucinating.
Because for the past few days, he had been thinking day and night about finding this child’s whereabouts!
“I was kidnapped, but I managed to escape! Uncle, can you send someone to pick me up?”
Hearing this, Johnny immediately frowned. “Kidnapped?”
“Yes! I was sleeping, and when I woke up, I was in a dark place.”
Honestly, at the first moment he heard this, Sirena’s name flashed in Johnny’s mind.
But that wasn’t the focus right now.
“Where are you? I’ll come get you!”
“Okay, Uncle.”
After hanging up the phone, Johnny immediately sent someone to the address Jake provided.
“You guys go here and pick up a little boy. Don’t make any mistakes!”
He called two male assistants together, thinking there shouldn’t be any issues.
Just as the male assistants were about to leave, Johnny caught up with them. “Wait! I’ll go myself.”
Last time it was his carelessness that led to the child being kidnapped. Although he didn’t know how Jake escaped, he couldn’t afford another mistake.
To be safe, Johnny took the two assistants with him. After getting in the car, he called Ulric.
It seemed Ulric didn’t want to answer; it rang for a long time before his voice came through.
“If you’re still talking about non-work-related things, I don’t have time.”
“… Although it’s still not work-related-your son just contacted me! I’m on my way to pick him up!”
Hearing the word “son,” Ulric was obviously stunned.
But he quickly reacted and said immediately, “Give me the location. I’m coming too.”
“Okay!”
After sending it over, Johnny hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. “The kid said he was kidnapped. Look into… Sirena.”
“Alright.”
After putting down the phone, Johnny looked out of the car window and sighed softly.
If Sirena really did this, she was beyond help. He couldn’t keep covering for her; that would make him an accomplice.
He could only hope she hadn’t lied and that she really had nothing to do with it.
…
Later Malcolm bought more wine until Rosalind was satisfied.
She was so drunk that Malcolm had to carry her back to her room. She couldn’t even stand; she was completely out of it.
In the morning Malcolm went out to buy some hangover soup. By the time it cooled down, she woke up.
“Headache?”
Seeing Rosalind frowning, Malcolm quickly brought over the freshly heated soup.
“Thank you.” Rosalind took it and rubbed her temples. “It’s been a long time since I got this drunk.”
Malcolm smiled. “Do you feel better?”
Rosalind’s face froze for a moment and she smiled reluctantly. “Yes, I’ve come to terms with it.”
“That’s good.” Though he knew she was lying.
Rosalind took a sip of the hangover soup and then suddenly remembered something. She quickly put it down. “Malcolm, did you contact B7 for me? I want to know how much it would cost to recover the previous video. I have some savings now; I’m not sure if it’s enough.”
