At the mention of Rosalind, Ulric fell silent as if automatically muted.
Johnny sneered, “You don’t believe me, do you? To prevent your disbelief, I took photos of them! I’ll send them to you now!”
“No need,” Ulric finally spoke. “They were together from the start; entering and leaving the hotel is normal.”
“…”
“Anything else?”
His sudden calmness and the serene tone in his voice made Johnny uncomfortable.
He thought Ulric would…
Would rush to find her!
But that wasn’t the scene he wanted to see either.
“No, nothing else.”
“We have a morning meeting soon. Don’t be late,” Ulric said before hanging up.
Johnny clicked his tongue and tossed his phone aside.
Arriving at the company, he saw Sirena talking with their department members as soon as he walked in.
Johnny intended to pretend not to see her, but Sirena didn’t let him get away.
“Wait a moment!”
Failing to escape, Johnny had to stop.
“What’s up?”
“Of course, there’s something! I’m asking about that child.” Sirena brought it up first, surprising Johnny.
He crossed his arms and looked at her. “I haven’t found him yet. Why, do you have any news?”
Sirena slightly frowned. “Where would I get news from? Just concerned. Ulric’s parents are very interested in this matter. We can’t just drop it without finding the child.”
“You told Ulric’s parents about this, right?” Johnny wasn’t stupid; only Sirena would inform the elders about such things.
“Yes,” Sirena admitted openly. “Since that child is Ulric’s, sooner or later, the Walters family will take him back. I had to prepare his parents mentally! Think about it, Auntie’s illness hasn’t improved; she can’t handle another shock!”
“We haven’t done a DNA test yet; no one can say for sure if he’s Ulric’s. Why bring this up?”
Sirena smiled.
Of course she would bring it up; she needed to keep mentioning it.
The less she avoided it, the less suspicion others would have about her!
Previously, framing Rosalind hadn’t been well thought out, resulting in a deteriorated relationship with Ulric. She couldn’t afford any more mistakes this time.
“I checked the surveillance footage of that child; there’s almost no doubt he’s Ulric’s.”
“Hold on,” Johnny interrupted suddenly. “Why are you so willing to accept this child’s existence overnight? Weren’t you causing a fuss before?”
Sirena was taken aback, then sighed deeply.
“It’s understandable that I couldn’t accept it at first. But after thinking it over, since it already happened and the child exists, I have no choice but to accept it! We can’t just make him disappear.”
Johnny listened to her explanation; it made sense but felt off somehow.
“Alright, don’t overthink it. If you find any information about that child, let me know! It’s not me asking; it’s Ulric’s parents.”
With that, Sirena waved and left.
Johnny stood there watching her back and smirked.
Something was off…
Just as he was about to head to his office, his phone rang!
Looking down, he saw an unfamiliar number-a virtual number.
Answering it, he heard a young voice.
“Uncle, I am Jake.”
