“I’ve been trying to contact him for you, but this person is elusive. No one knows where he is or what he looks like! I can only reach out to those who have dealt with him before and see if there’s a way to get a response.”
Rosalind nodded, knowing that Malcolm was doing his best, and she didn’t need to push him.
“I can only pin my hopes on this person now.”
Malcolm hesitated before speaking, “After this incident, I suddenly realized Jake has a talent for computers and the internet. Do you want… to let him try?”
Rosalind looked at him and shook her head. “No, it’s not about whether Jake has the ability or not. Even if he does, I don’t want him to see that scene.”
Jake was already a thoughtful child, unlike the innocent Floyd. If he restored the video, he would be the first to see it, which would be detrimental to his growth.
It was a murder scene!
He would harbor even deeper hatred towards the Walters family.
Malcolm understood Rosalind’s concern as a mother and nodded in agreement. “I was thinking too simply!”
“Malcolm, I know you’re doing this for my sake. Thank you so much.”
“Stop thanking me all the time! I’ve heard enough!” Malcolm smiled and then glanced at his watch. “Let’s grab something to eat and then set off? The kids are still waiting for you.”
“Okay.”
Rosalind quickly packed up and checked out with Malcolm.
They found a breakfast place and sat down. She wasn’t really hungry but felt that since Malcolm had been helping her all along, she couldn’t let him skip meals too.
When breakfast arrived, Malcolm kept putting food into her bowl.
“I can’t eat much.”
“Eat more; you’ve gotten so thin.” Malcolm’s tone was like coaxing a child, but then it turned more serious. “By the way, Rosalind, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you…”
Rosalind put down her chopsticks. “Go ahead.”
“With Jake showing up this time, Ulric must know he has a child now. He just doesn’t know it’s yours. Jake also knows he has a father. There’s no guarantee that when he grows up, he won’t go looking for Ulric.”
Some things are hard to prevent.
If father and son are destined to meet, no one can stop it.
Just like Malcolm had never told Jake about Ulric before, but Jake still found out!
So he thought Rosalind should plan ahead and decide what to do or just let things develop naturally.
Rosalind lowered her eyelashes. “Malcolm, I’ve been thinking these past few days if I’m being too selfish! I’m the one who deprived the children of their father’s love.”
Because if Ulric knew he had two children in this world, his love wouldn’t be any less than hers.
If it weren’t for fearing that Ulric’s parents wouldn’t treat the children well, she wouldn’t have hidden it from Ulric!
“Don’t say that. The Walters family is so complicated that even Ulric can’t protect your family well. You can’t expect two little kids to face that!”
“But Floyd and Jake still want a father.” Although they didn’t say it, Rosalind knew.
Because it’s in a child’s nature!
“When they grow up, they’ll understand your good intentions! And situations change all the time; maybe by then Ulric’s parents will be gone! Then Floyd and Jake can reunite with Ulric.”
