Ava’s POV
“I am sure your blood will taste exquisite as well,” he whispered. I was stunned. How could someone say something like that? Isn’t he human?
“How can you be saying something like this? You must be joking, right?” I told him.
“Joking? Did I sound funny to you? I am not joking, and I would like to have a slip of your blood,” he announced.
“You must be insane,” I said. “And you are abnormal for saying nonsense and trash to me,” I fired back. But he didn’t seem to bother as he pulled me closer to his chest. “You smell good,” he mumbled and sniffed as he buried his head in my neckline.
“What the fuck? Hey, what are you doing?” I cried out, nudging him away with all my strength.
“Easy, easy, baby doll,” he smirked. “I won’t bite painfully, I promise. I just want to have a taste, and I’m sure you are going to enjoy it as well.”
I moved towards him. Bang. I whacked him across his face.
“Who do you think you are? For you to be treating me like a doll. Who the hell are you?”
“You should have told me earlier you are interested in knowing who I am,” he stated arrogantly.
He pissed me off already. I didn’t care to know who the hell he was. All I was saying was for him to stay away from me, pointing my fingers at his forehead. “Glue that to your dumb skull.”
“Interesting. You have finally aroused my interest in you, girl,” he said. “Ava, any girl I set my mind on, I will surely get her. You will be mine sooner or later.”
“Crazy. He is a crazy one.” Without uttering a single word, I turned my back and left the crazy dude all alone by himself.
I was searching the crowd for my sister when someone suddenly tapped me on my back. I thought it was the weird, crazy dude, but I was wrong. It was Roy and my sister.
“Hey, Ava, are you OK?” Roy asked. “Feeling worried?”
“Yeah, I am fine,” I answered back.
“Why are you reeking of someone else’s scent?” he muttered as he began to sniff my body, just like the peculiar guy.
“Hey, what do you think you are doing to my sister?” Oliver asked, pushing him away.
“Nothing, baby, nothing,” he said.
What did I miss? Roy called her baby. The last time I checked, those two were not on good terms. Why were they so close all of a sudden?
“Stop calling me baby. I am not yet your girlfriend. I did not accept you yet,” she said, blushing.
“What is happening?” I asked Oliver.
“Nothing, sister,” she shyly mumbled.
“And why are you sniffing me? Just like the person I met earlier,” I asked.
“You met someone who sniffed you?” he asked.
“Yes, Leo. He introduced himself as Leo to me,” I replied and explained everything that happened between us to them.
“You mean he told you he wants to have a taste of your blood?” Roy asked.
“Yes. Don’t you think he is a crazy type?” I retorted.
“No, he is not crazy. Ava, I want you to stay away from him anytime you see him. He is a dangerous one,” Roy warned, without telling me what exactly was going on.
“OK. I will stay away from him.”
Everything went well. The party was over.
“Oliver, spill everything out,” I asked my sister immediately as we stepped into our apartment.
“Spill what, sister?” she innocently asked, as if she didn’t understand what I was talking about.
“About you and Roy,” I said. “I know something is going on between you guys. Tell me now. I can’t wait to know everything.”
“Oh, sister, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Nothing is going on between me and Roy,” she said, trying to get inside her room.
“Where do you think you are going? Do you think I am going to let you be? After he called you baby at his party,” I said, dragging her back.
“OK, at least allow me to change my clothes,” she grumbled.
“No, no, I know you too well. You won’t come out of your room again, so be fast and spill everything.
Come here, sister. Let’s take our seats to talk,” I stated.
“Eh, is it up to this, sister Ava? OK, let’s talk then.” I took my seat beside Oliver. “I am listening,” I told her. “I am very eager to know what is going on.”
“He asked me out,” she blurted out.
“What? He asked you out?” I screamed.
“Can you stop screaming?” she said, as she continued, “He told me he is in love with my soul, not my body, and he told me he wants me to rule beside him as his mate, sister. What I am about to tell you, please keep it a secret from anyone, because I promise never to tell a soul about his secret.”
“I promise, tell me quick,” I said.
She began. He told me he is a werewolf, not a human being like us. He told me about his pack and the werewolves he rules over. He said I am his fated mate and his Luna. He doesn’t care whether I am a human or not. Likewise, he is never going to reject me.
“Wait,” I tried to digest the information I got.
“Mate? Luna?”
“Oliver, do you remember the words Aiden and Ethan told me the first time I met them? Mate and Rejection,” I asked.
“Yes, yes, I remember. Oh no, does it mean they were not human but werewolves like Roy?” she said.
“Yes, I think they were the same as him because Roy knows about mates, and he told you he is a werewolf,” I let out.
But what baffled me was the rejection part. Did they detest me because I was human? Is that why they rejected me the first time we met? They were cruel. They betrayed me. I told them my secret, and they chose to keep theirs. I am such a joke to them. They must have thought I wasn’t worth or deserved them. They were such betrayers. I abhorred them. They betrayed my trust and let me down. I began to cry.
She finally got to know what a mate was all about.
