Then he ended the call abruptly, as if afraid to hear any more harsh words from Rosalind.

Rosalind clenched her phone and closed her eyes, only to realize that tears had already started streaming down her cheeks.

Johnny was still looking for traces of that kid when he received Ulric’s call.
He really liked that child!
“Hello?”
“Come drink.”
Johnny was taken aback. “Did I hear you right? What did you say, drink?!”
“Are you coming or not?”
“I’m coming!”
He didn’t need to think. His brother must have been frustrated by Rosalind again! Ever since he had known him, Ulric only ever lost his composure over Rosalind, experiencing extreme highs and lows.
After sighing, he finished his tasks and hurried to the bar.
Since Ulric didn’t like noisy places, he had booked out the bar for the night. The music was still playing, the lights were on, and the drinks were there, but aside from Ulric sitting on the couch, there was no one else around.
Johnny strode over and sat down beside him, rolling his eyes.
“Brother, do you have some misunderstanding about drowning your sorrows in alcohol? Coming to a bar to drink, you’ve sent all the girls away. Where’s the fun in that?”
Ulric glanced at him, his long fingers picking up a bottle and pouring a full glass for Johnny.
“Drink.”
“Drinking is fine, but let me call a few girls over! Just the two of us drinking is no fun.” Johnny actually wanted Ulric to move on from the past.
Even if he didn’t end up with Sirena, there were other women out there!
The world wasn’t just made up of Rosalind and Sirena!
He thought Ulric was just shutting himself off and unwilling to meet new people.
“No.” Ulric frowned and refused. “They are noisy.”
“So Rosalind coming wouldn’t be noisy?” Johnny regretted his words as soon as they left his mouth. Sometimes his brain couldn’t keep up with his mouth; he spoke before thinking!
Sure enough, Johnny saw Ulric’s eyes darken quickly.
His mind raced to find a way to smooth things over. After thinking hard, he could only sigh. “Ulric, you really should give up! It’s over between you two.”
Ulric picked up a bottle of strong liquor from the table and downed it in one go.
“I thought that child was hers.”
“I’ve told you before, it’s not hers! You just wouldn’t believe it.” Johnny downed a glass with him. “Think about it. Didn’t you say before that besides Rosalind, you haven’t been with any other woman? So isn’t it possible that someone stole your…”
Ulric looked up with a frown. “What?”
“Oh come on! Haven’t you ever… taken care of yourself all these years?”
“…”
“You must have! What if someone with ill intentions took it? I’ve seen cases like this in the news.” He pulled out his phone and showed it to Ulric.
Ulric wasn’t in the mood to look at those things.
But indeed, he had taken care of himself before.
As a man, he had those needs, but every time he had to think of Rosalind for it to work.
