Chapter 550: Withdraw Early

At this moment, Callie was standing by the door, pouring water for the brave men who had come to help. Once the situation was explained, they didn’t make things difficult for her. One of them asked, “Your husband seems to have a bad temper. Does he bully you often?”
Callie smiled awkwardly, thinking to herself that they hadn’t seen him really lose his temper. But she said nothing, “It’s my fault. I sneaked out without telling him.”
“He controls you that strictly?”
“That’s just his personality.”
“From the looks of it, you two won’t go far together. Take my advice and withdraw early.”
Callie smiled, “Thank you.”
She wanted to, but Nelson had his eyes on her and wouldn’t let her go.
When Nelson came out, those men had already left. Anthony was handling things outside. Nelson leaned against the wall, a cigarette in his hand, unlit. He stared at the frail woman, “Those guys are still young, probably just started their careers. If I do something behind their backs, their lives will be changed forever.”
Smoke swirled between their faces.
“I don’t want anything but for you to come back. It’s not difficult. If you don’t come back, I can’t do anything to you, but dealing with them is easy for me. They would have their lives ruined because of your whim. Can you live with that?”
“You know my temper.”
“Callie, weigh the consequences.”
Nelson’s voice was calm. The more he spoke, the tighter Callie’s fingers clenched. He knew all her psychological weaknesses.
Callie looked up, the light in her eyes extinguished, “I have one condition.”
Nelson raised an eyebrow.
“You have to tell me about Regan’s situation.”
Nelson laughed, “Alright.”
As they left the police station, the traffic officer from earlier was preparing for duty. He looked at Nelson repeatedly with his phone in hand. Nelson frowned, “What, still want to hit me?”
“No way…” The man smiled awkwardly, “Brother, I really didn’t recognize you earlier. If I had known you were the person trending online, I would never have mistaken you for a human trafficker.”
Callie glanced casually and immediately widened her eyes. The photos from yesterday at the Ellison family were trending online.
The reporter’s angle was tricky. In one photo, Nelson was carrying Callie away with large strides, his back tall and strong. She was nestled in his arms, looking back at the camera in fear.
Her small face was full of panic, her eyes sparkling.
Nelson remained ever composed.
The comments below had already exploded.
“Nelson really admitted publicly that this is Mrs. Oconnor!”
“So this is what Mrs. Oconnor looks like. Not very pretty but quite elegant!”
“I can already imagine a story of forced love and power…”
Callie’s mouth twitched; she wished she could cover her face.
This public reveal left her no place to hide. Everyone now knew she was Mrs. Oconnor.
Nelson seemed pleased with her reaction and told Anthony, “Tell the PR team to keep it trending for a few more days.”
“Nelson!” Callie couldn’t bear it anymore.
It was all his fault.
Back at the hotel’s top floor, Anthony mentioned that Nelson had booked the entire floor for half a year. He came prepared for a long standoff with her.
Nelson’s back was injured; the police station’s bandaging was crude. When he took off his shirt, blood had already seeped through the gauze.
Anthony quickly called for a doctor.
The blow had been strong, injuring his muscles and bones; it would take time to heal.
