Chapter 84
In the clubhouse, Elena’s father lay on the floor, breathing heavily and still tied up to his chair as he lay shivering on the ground.
It was obvious he was weak and in pain as he kept pleading for the lady to stop putting her bullets in his body.
“Hold on! If you are not Elena, who are you?” He asked amidst his pain, still trying to make sure he understood why she looked so much like his daughter.
The lady laughs and watches him closely with a smile, wondering why he was worried about that.
She had ordered that his men be taken away, leaving just the both of them in the bar, and yet all he could ask was how she looked so much like his daughter. The same daughter he had not been able to bring down here in the hours of grace she had graciously given to him.
“If I were you, I would bother more about myself than with things that have no usefulness to you.” She muttered while staring down at his almost paralyzed body.
She had shot him on his right toes and two fingers in four hours and yet he had not done anything useful to pacify her. She couldn’t even believe how she could still look at his disgust after everything she knew he had done.
“I just want to know, that’s all.” Elena’s dad said, trying to convince her to reveal the answer to his question to him.
“It’s been four hours since I gave you a task to do.” She spoke slowly. ” Yet, you have proved to be useless. So, I’ll just finish you off because there’s no need to keep you.” She was speaking with irritation now.
” I already told you. I told you Elena would not show up, but you refused to listen to me. Now you are calling me useless?” He spoke helplessly.
“Shut up! It doesn’t change the fact that you are indeed useless.” She snapped with her gun pointed at him.
Just then, her phone rang and she glared at him before turning to pick it up.
She wondered who this was that was interrupting her session with this useless man who thought himself a father.
But when she picked up the phone, she smiled and her expression brightened as she spoke into the phone.
“Hey!” She spoke and listened for a few minutes.
“Great. I will be right there soon!” She said to the caller and hung up.
She heaved a sigh of relief and turned to start at Elena’s father.
“You are a lucky man. I’m sure that is what has kept you alive to see this day. Luckily for you, you have a chance to live, and that is, only if my plan goes as planned and turns out a success. I’ll see you soon when I’m back.” These were her final words to him before she walked out.

Hours later. Angelo rushed into a private hospital and was fortunate to meet the doctor walking out of his office.
“Doctor! Where is my fiancee? How is she?” He queried immediately after he caught up with the doctor.
“Mr Angelo. I was just going to call for you. She is fine and the surgery went well. We have successfully pulled the bullet out of her. You can go meet her in her room. Meanwhile….”
Angelo couldn’t hear anything else the doctor was telling him about her progress as his mind kept wandering to who the gunman could’ve been. Who could’ve had the audacity to raise a gun at her in his presence?
He had immediately ordered his men to the scene, and they had combed the entire area but couldn’t find the shooter or any signs of a gunman.
“Mr Angelo! Are you with me?” The doctor, who had suddenly noticed he was talking to himself, called him, snapping his attention back to reality.
“I’ll be with you soon, doctor. Where is she? I’ll just go and… I’ll meet you in your office.”
With this, Angelo was hurrying through corridors before he eventually got to Elena’s private room.
He rushed in and met her sitting up on the bed; she was staring out of the window, but immediately, the door opened, and her attention turned in his direction.
“Hey, beautiful.” He called as he got to her bedside and sat on the bed with her, while Elena let out a small smile.
“Are you okay? How do you feel?” He asked her at the same time that his hands went up to feel her temperature.
Elena gave a slow nod in response.
“Yes, I’m fine. I feel like someone that has just been shot.” She responded jokingly and Angelo stiffened beside her.
He watched the bandage on her arm and the bag of blood that was dripping into her arm.
“Hey! That’s on a light note. The doctor said it was just a scratch and nothing serious.” She nudged him lightly as she spoke, and Angelo heaved a sigh and pulled her into his arms, holding her and patting her softly as she lay on his chest.
“Can I be discharged? I don’t like the smell of this hospital; it makes me sicker, and I don’t think I can recover here.” Elena said after a few moments of silence.
Angelo didn’t need anyone to tell him why she was saying that. He immediately understood why she wanted to leave the hospital, he knew it was because of the incident that happened before.
“I’ll speak to the doctor about that. He has to be sure that you can be discharged. Okay?” Angelo said to her and she nodded like a little child and muttered ‘okay.”
” Give me a few minutes.”
And with that, Angelo was heading out of the room back to the doctor’s office, and the doctor agreed that she could be taken home; he promised to show up and make sure she was doing well.
With this assurance, Angelo took Elena back home, and after he had made her comfortable in her room, he went to his office to attend to some official business matters, which included making sure he caught people who had shot his to-be wife.
Elena was in the room laying on her bed peacefully when the door opened.
She turned to find Dominic entering her room.
But surprisingly, her eyes widened in surprise and she asked,
“Who are you!?”
