CHAPTER 79
Elena felt herself slowly come back to consciousness as she tried to make sense of her environment with her eyes still tightly closed but she didn’t hear any sound, and so she opened her eyes very slowly to find herself covered by a warm duvet.
As she tried to get familiar with the environment which she could place was Angelo’s room, she turned to see Angelo sitting beside her, staring at her face like he was waiting for her to come back to reality.
A look at his face, had all of her memories rushing back like troubled waters. She immediately sat up in the bed she tried to see if it was a part of her dream or if it had really happened.
The wedding card! Angelo’s words!
She looked at him again and her eyes widened when she could depict from the look on his face that she had not been dreaming. It was all real and he had actually told her that they would be getting married.
“I’m yet to understand why you suddenly fell unconscious just because I proposed to marry you,” Angelo said to her as she stared at him in surprise.
“Am I such a monster to you that the thought of marrying me makes you faint?” He asked in disappointment as his brows creased in confusion.
Elena blinked twice and tried to compose herself as she stared into his eyes. If only he knew!
“No! No, Angelo! It is nothing like that. I mean.. that’s not it.” She stammered, trying to find a suitable way to inform him that he was not the problem here, but she was.
To her surprise, he moved closer to her and whispered,
“Then what is it? Tell me.” He coaxed, his eyes searching hers as he tried to see the problem.
Elena felt like her tongue had been tied as no word could come out of her mouth anymore. She couldn’t speak even when she tried to and so she put her head down in shame and fear.
She wondered what her life would be like if they got married. She wondered what he would do to her as his wife when he found out all she had done, all the atrocities she had committed especially the ones his sister knew about.
Just then, in her confusion, Angelo used his thumb to raise her jaw, so she was looking at him. She could feel his fingers on her skin, making her skin crawl because of the fear that was deposited inside her. She did not deserve any of this. She had messed up big time and she knew deep down that she would pay for all of it, somehow, sometime soon.
“Well, I’m just glad you are well and awake now. Buckle up! We have a lot to do today.” Angelo said with a smile as he leaned in.
Surprised, she flinched at the proximity between them. If Angelo noticed it, he didn’t show, but still, he leaned in and kissed her lips very slowly.
She could feel her insides churn in excitement even when she willed them not to. If only she was pure enough, she would’ve jumped at this proposal and had enough of this excitement, but guilt would have had enough of her before then.
When Angelo left the room to give her privacy to prepare for the day, she ran to the bathroom to have her bath and see if she would wash away the filth she felt as well as the memories she had just added to her brain.
She was relieved Eva had not said anything regarding those videos which she was sure were more than one. If she had said something, Angelo would have mentioned it. There was no way he would’ve missed it.

A few days later,
In a bar on the outskirts of the town, a man sat on a chair with bottles and glasses of beer surrounding him.
Other random men sat at their table, having random drunken discussions about things that weren’t important, and the bartender kept running around trying to get all their orders in her already torn and mismanaged apron.
This man was already so drunk and tipsy, and yet he kept ordering more drinks, and the bartender kept giving him more of what he ordered.
“Keep them coming! Keep the drinks coming!” He continued saying in a loud slurred voice despite his drunken state.
He wasn’t alone on his table, some other men were with him as well.
One of them was forced to speak,
“Boss, you need to take it easy. Remember, we have an operation today.” He cautioned slowly being that this was his boss, but the man was not having anyone talk to him about what he was supposed to do and not do.
“Shut up!” He growled at the speaker as he hit one of the bottles on the table in anger making everyone in the bar jolt in sudden surprise.
“I’m only being concerned, boss.” The same man spoke again and before he could respond angrily again, one of his men interrupted them.
“I heard your daughter is getting married to Angelo Fabian.”
The man paused his angry venture at the first man and with a serious expression on his face, turned to look at the second speaker with the bottle still in his hands. When his eyes got to the man’s face, he burst out and began laughing.
“You are joking, aren’t you? I know… I know, because no one will marry that daughter of mine, talk more of a Mafia Lord like Angelo Fabian,? Isn’t it?” He asked no one in particular as he kept laughing.
“Don’t you know? She is only good for what she has between her legs, so who gave you such a piece of wrong information? ” He asked in between laughs and laughed so hard when he was done talking.
Suddenly they heard a voice, and all the men on the table looked up.
“Hello, gentlemen,”
It was a lady dressed in a short, transparent black dress that barely covered her thighs. She looked like she had been decorated specially for that night with her full breasts floating and juggling with every little movement that she made.
Her sleek body wasn’t even helping matters as they had the perfect curves everywhere her dress could reveal, and she did not make any effort to cover them up.
Elena’s father blinked and then said, with furrowed brows.
“Elena?” Surprise was written all over his drunken face.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, looking at his men, who seemed as surprised as he was with confused looks on their faces.
“Hold on! Before you answer. How are you here? Did you sneak off Angelo’s Fabian claws, or is he here with you?” He asked again obviously surprised to see her.
Some of the men by his side began to look at themselves, getting scared of her presence and what they suspected would follow.
The girl burst into a short laugh.
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” She said, speaking for the first time, then she approached Elena’s father slowly and bent down a little towards him.
Before anyone knew or could interpret what was going on, she had brought out a silencer and shot at his leg.
“Shhhhhh…. I wouldn’t make that sound if I were you, except you want Angelo to know about your recent dirty deeds.” She whispered in his ears in warning as Elena’s father held back the surprised scream that was on the verge of escaping his lips.
All his men were surprised, but they knew enough not to raise a gun at the one who was pointing a gun at their boss.
She had her eyes on him as she pulled the nearest seat her hands could find and sat down with her gun still pointed at him before she spoke again.
“Now, you are going to answer all my questions. “
