CHAPTER 50
Dominic followed the doctor to his office with his phone on his ear, trying to reach Angelo.
Time and time again, his number was not connecting, and his brows kept furrowing.
He clenched his fists as he tried again, oblivious to his surroundings as he walked.
Some of Angelo’s men were lounging in the hospital halls, worried sick as they stood on guard in different spots.. for Eva.
But Dominic didn’t seem to notice them. His gaze was fixed on his phone as he kept trying to reach Angelo.
“Come on in,” the doctor called out as he stepped into his office.
Dominic raised a head, phone still in his ear, as he stepped into the spacious office.
Just then, their call connected, and he raised a hand, excusing himself he stepped back out of the office.
“We have a problem, Boss. A big one..” he began.
But instead of Angelo’s voice at the other end, it was something else.
“Boss…?” Dominic’s expression turned sour as he stared at the phone for a moment.
He placed the phone close to his ear and his eyes widened incredulously as the sound of gunshots reverberated through.
“What the fuck!?”
” Boss! Boss! Where are you!?”
There was no response, and the sounds of the gunshots and screaming filled his ears.
At that moment, Dominic was torn. Initially, he had wanted to inform him about Elena’s condition knowing fully well he wouldn’t take it nicely, but this seemed to be a bigger issue.
He dashed right back into the doctor’s office.
“Please have a…” the doctor who was already seated on his seat, was pointing at the one opposite him when he noticed Dominic’s expression.
Dominic was about to open his mouth when he realized he had no clue what to decide at the moment.
No way was he going to leave Elena alone in the hospital. If Angelo learns about it he would be so furious.
Also, his duty to his Boss was of utmost importance as well. He just couldn’t leave him amid a battle without doing something.
Hell, he knew he did not have many men with him at the moment, meaning he was quite vulnerable.
Right!
His eyes shone with a realization. He had to call in some of the men at the mansion. They all need to head there right now. Then maybe he can stay with ELENA.
But then, he also realized that he had absolutely no clue where he was at the moment.
“I understand you might be worried about her condition, but….”
The doctor’s voice snapped him back to reality and he blinked, “What?”
He tilted his head, “Wait.. what do you mean? I thought you said she was lucky to be brought at the right time. What do you mean by…?”
“I was speaking of the pregnancy. It’s a pity that…”
“What!?”
The doctor blinked, obviously caught unaware by the tone of Dominic.
He pushed back his glasses up his nose, regarding him with a blank look.
“Wh… what do you mean, p.. pregnant!?” Dominic stuttered as he kept staring at the doctor, gobsmacked.
No no no no…
This couldn’t be
This could not be happening.
“Perhaps you could be mistaken,” he chuckled slightly, “She can’t possibly be pregnant! She can’t.”
The doctor was perplexed at Dominic’s attitude, but rather he sighed and shook his head, “I’m afraid she was. Just a few weeks old, but unfort bully, it got affected by whatever she had consumed, hence the…”
Dominic’s eyes widened, “you mean… it’s gone? She lost the baby?”
“Yes, I am. Afraid so. And right now she would….”
Dominic didn’t wait for the doctor to speak further as he dashed out of the office, and made his way towards Elena’s ward.
He didn’t know why, but he needed to see her.
He needed to see her or he might lose his mind.
But by the time he got to the halls that led to her hall, the place was dark. Lights out.
He stared back at where he had emerged from, observing that the rest of the halls had lights on them.
In a moment of fury, and anxiousness, he got to her ward and pushed open that door.
Dominic could not take a step further, as he stood rooted to the spot at what was in front of him.
