Chapter 49
Angelo was tensed and restless since he heard Eva’s panicked voice on the phone.
He was already having a bad day and wasn’t expecting the day to get more messier.
As they drove, his eyes were wide, observing the routes she was talking about.
This was the time when his head was a little bit settled, and then he quickly brought out his phone and dialed a number.
Dominic.
Where the hell was he?
He should be at the house by now, he thought. He so badly wanted to know what exactly had happened that made Eva taken.
How did it happen?
He had arranged the best security in the mansion. His, as well as Don Massimo’s guards, all for her protection.
This was exactly what he had feared. What the Don was trying to avoid.
But, in Peru?
How had this happened?
He flung the phone to the front of the car, with so much force it hit the wheel, the driver almost jumping out in fright.
Dominic’s cell was not connecting, and he was so confused.
All of a sudden, Angelo froze.
He had left Eva in the house. With Elena.
If whoever had taken her could bypass the guards and do that…that could also mean that they took Elena as well.
What are the odds that they wouldn’t? He wondered.
“Drive faster!!” He yelled out to the driver in utmost urgency.
Not her too. Not Elena. He felt he was losing his senses at the mere thought of it.
“We.. we have been driving for a while, Boss…where…”
He tried to find Angelo’s eyes for the direction, but Angelo wasn’t speaking.
His gaze was focused on the houses as they passed by…he could give a wild guess as to the location where it was allowed to go for a smoke.
For a fleeting second, his eyes narrowed, as something flickered in them.
“Reverse! Fucking reverse right no….”
Gunshots echoed.
The car swiveled, making a screeching sound as the driver, in a moment of confusion, tried to rear back the car.
But his hand hit the brake instead, and the car propelled forward in a rush.
Bullets fired continuously on the car windows and windshields. Thankfully it was bulletproof, and it couldn’t penetrate in.
“What the fuck is going on!? Reverse the fucking car, you imbecile!”
The driver’s eyes were wide open as he tried to restart the car. But just as quickly as he tried to do so, cars lined up in front of them, beside them, and at their back.
Black sleek cars with a black flag waving upwards.
It became so clear to Angelo. They were outnumbered.

Back at the hospital, in Elena’s ward, the doctor was seen administering some fluid to her.
She was still unconscious, with Dominic sitting beside her on the mattress.
Dominic stood up the moment he noticed the frown on the doctor’s face, “Is everything okay? Would she be fine?”
” Oh, yes, yes. We hope so. She had ingested a really strong toxin, but it is a good thing she was brought in here on time…otherwise..”
The lines on Dominic’s forehead relaxed a bit, but he wasn’t satisfied. He cleared his throat, ” Has… has it been washed out completely? It wouldn’t be a problem for her later on?”
The doctor nodded as he heaved a sigh, ” She seemed to be in a deep rest, now. I think it’s best we discuss this in my office and give her some time…there is something rather important I would like to discuss..”
The moment the words tumbled out of his lips, Dominic froze.
Out?
He glanced at Elena, and for a second, he realized what had happened.
He should call and inform Angelo.
Shit!
“Sure, sure. We should head out now,” he took one last look at Elena and they made their way out of the ward.
Dominic quickly brought out his cell phone, intending to call Angelo and inform him of the situation at hand.
Especially because they were exposed in the hospital at this moment, and would need some security.
At the same time, the guard from earlier, to whom Eva had given strict instructions, was just about to head through the corner that led to Elena’s room.
He spotted Dominic coming out of the room and immediately retreated.
For a moment, he was a bit skeptical of his actions. If he was ever caught, he knew what the repercussions would be…so he needed to be extra careful.
Dominic began to make his way down the halls, following the doctor.
The moment they were out of sight, the guard glanced at his watch. He raised his head as he glanced at the ends of the halls, satisfied that no one was around.
He had distracted the other guards who had brought Eva to the hospital, and he quickly made his way towards Elena’s ward.
Slowly, he opened the door as carefully as he could and stepped in. She was lying on the bed, her black hair sprawled over the mattress with a peaceful expression on her face.
His eyes scanned the drips she was placed in, and he heaved a sigh.
Just as he glanced at his watch the second time, the lights went off and the room was enveloped in total darkness.
He stood there for a few minutes until he heard the door creak open, and a voice spoke.
“Good job. Now get out!”
“Yes, miss” he whispered and quietly found his way out.
Eva quickly made her way into the dark room, towards the bed, as she approached Elena.
Her hands clenched in a fist, as she stood over her for a few minutes.
Ever so slowly, her mouth opened and she spoke, “It’s all your fault. You shouldn’t have come into this life at all… you never should have. And you made a very grave mistake, you bitch. That thing should not be growing inside of you. But don’t worry. I will put you both out of the misery, and you can thank me from the other world…”
